Hopefully, Billie's new record doesn't disappoint in the same way. It's a bit suss that it's also very short (10 songs or so) and there are no singles. At that length, it needs to slap as much as "When we all fall asleep" and definitely more than "Happier than ever". Let's hope she didn't wing it like Dua Peep.

Mer 61,004 Posted May 3 It’s fun! It’s like a less-charismatic Kylie Minogue record, and I mean that in the best way such a thing could be said. 3 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹
Embach 40,298 Posted May 3 I FUCKING LOVE THIS ALBUM WHAT THE FUCK Houdini is probably the best track, so I think the choice to make it as a lead was perfect. My favorite is Falling Forever, those vocals! End Of An Era, oh what an intro!!! Maria is so damn good! The vibes and the energy! Some parts of the chorus reminded me of Stereo Love's hook. It's a perfect summer album, I love the summery, beachy and sunshiney vibes with spices and energy of tropical, electronic beats! I can't really comment on the lyrics because I didn't focus on them that much but I love the lyrics for Houdini. This is what I wanted Solar Power to be. Solar Power isn't bad but it lacked the energy and the flavour what Radical Optimism had. I sensed some Tame Impala vibes as well since he was the co-producer of the album but I'm glad that it had only some of his elements because I was kind of scared that it won't be a Dua Lipa-ish album. I think it's my second favorite. Future Nostalgia is hands down her best album, my favorite of hers and also her most innovative work with all the production, sound and lyrics although I didn't like that it was bloated with that many deluxe editions (didn't it have like 5 deluxe versions). Debut album is definitely classic and also very nostalgic, it had a mixed bag of different sound of pop music from the mid to late 2010s. Live love laugh, long live Dua Lipa
allmybirdsofparadise 140 Posted May 3 I like this album a lot more than I thought I would (and it seems many who expected to love it really don't). Listened on the way to work and it genuinely put me in a great mood. I’m a sentimental sap so of course my favourite is “Happy for You.” I really like “These Walls” too. “Anything for Love” would’ve been a standout had they not halted it after 2 minutes. Absolutely baffling decision. It switches gears, ready to take you on a glorious odyssey, only for it to just abruptly end. I'm so frustrated with this trend. No trial, straight to the electric chair for that one! “Houdini” only gets more excellent with time and it deserved a massive video. The ~ lethargically rehearsing with my dancers ~ treatment is such an insult to its potential. EDIT: "Falling Forever" has me by the neck. How loooooooooooooooooooooooooong

sunday afternoon 1,036 Posted May 3 Months and months since I lost my account, well I found it... Well as for Dua Lipa's latest album, I really like it. And it wasn't a win because I didn't like Future Nostalgia which was basic and boring, very 2020, very Covid. She didn't stand out at all and honestly, I didn't follow her. And then I heard Houdini, and I got closer to her, well I was surprised by the turn and the production with Kevin Parker who I really like. I told myself that ultimately she was an artist who was involved in her project to make good sounds, and the psychedelic side was interesting because of her vision. We agree that we are far from the psychedelic side that attracted us here but I recognize that the album is a soothing pop record, personally I needed a record like that. I mean, it is well produced, soft, summery spring - summer, you want to sip a cold drink in the sun and not think about anything. It makes me think of the golden days of sunny singles from the 2010s that were played over and over on popular radio, something positive sprinkled with blue and white. The good years, less sad. Unpopular opinion but I really love the visual which is perfect. The simple but well-layered writing, the simple but beautiful visuals, really beautiful. It’s definitely a summer record that can lift your spirits. I understand the disappointment of those who expected something more impactful, but deep down I think it's an album that feels good, there's no big pretension, it just says "enjoy the sun, the seasons sunny, warm wind and relax.

We’re just sharing different taste in music. Not everyone has to like songs that are < 100 BPM. 0 Quote pass me my vape.

Fireffie 3,634 Posted May 3 I’ve listened to it a few times since this morning and the first half grew a bit on me, but I couldn’t agree more with everyone: why did they choose the (best) songs that had nothing to do with the album as lead singles?? If they released End of an Era instead of Houdini or TH it would have been much better and the cover would’ve made more sense. its not bad, it’s a nice summer album (and it’s giving 2000 European pop vibes) but why did they promote it as something opposite…. anyways… we finally have a summer album for 2024!!! 2 Quote Dying by the hand of a foreign man, Happily Calling out my name in the summer rain, Ciao amore 13.04.2018 | 04.06.2024
TheBoss 13,476 Posted May 3 I'm so shocked at people comparing this to the likes of Solar Power or L+F, this is her Dawn FM to her After Hours, her Deeper Weel to her Golden Hour. The girls that get it, get it!
