We're complaining about her songs being slow ass piano ballads, and at the same time Lana is posting selfies freshly fucked in a bra wearing nothing but Gucci w skin clearer than baccarat and probably vaping this is why I'll never unstan thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Mariners Apartment Complex has more streams on Spotify than any Azealia song since 212. Ms. Banks is not a scapegoat.

all that's certain is the lifelong death spiral of the guitars and cymbals and archaic space-age blip blip bleeps within VEnice's bitch that last for 10 minutes long enough for the perfect time to not only create and make a nice cold coffee but also slam chug that bitch hard back onto the counter with the whip smeared across ur face like the dumb bitch monster of october u really are thinking we're all fake deep but it's a lana del rey song from an noncertain album within a noncertain atmosphere n the only certain thing is u just consumed..,, all, them calories.

Do you think Freak and Venice Bitch are connected?...

Freak "That's the way I feel for you"
VB "Life's dream I'm sweet for you"

Freak "That's the way I feel for you, If time stood still, I'd take this moment, Make it last forever"
VB "Fear fun, fear love, Fresh out of fucks, forever, Tryin' to be stronger for you"

Freak "Leather black and eyes of blue"
VB "I dream in jeans and leather"

Freak "Oooh, you're cold as ice, baby"
    VB "Ice cream, ice queen"

Freak "Flames so hot that they turn blue"
VB "You're in the yard, I light the fire"

Freak "Palms reflecting in your eyes, like an endless summer"
VB "And as the summer fades away"

Freak "Kiss while we do it"
VB "Oh god, miss you on my lips"

Freak "Talk 'til we both turn blue"
VB "Paint me happy in blue"

Freak "Baby, if you wanna leave, Come to California"
VB "It's me, your little Venice bitch, On the stoop with the neighborhood kids, Callin' out, bang bang, kiss kiss" "You should probably come over"

Feak "Be a freak like me, too, Screw your anonymity, Loving me is all you need to feel, Like I do"
VB "You write, I tour, we make it work, You're beautiful and I'm insane, We're American-made"

Freak "We could slow dance to rock music"
VB" My baby, Crimson and Clover" (A kind of slow dance rock song which plays out the rest of the song)

I think to much about the meaning of her songs

Both songs have a pretty similar theme though of her telling a guy to come to California/back to his "Venice Bitch", she still loves him and in Freak she was saying ieven though he is cold and blue he's nice when he's good and she didn't want him to leave and now she's saying she's stronger for him and they are older now so it'll work.

I just hope for a UV-esque booklet in terms of images and lyric snippets. Hopefully Neil or a new artist do the majority of the work.

I’m down for 90s indie rock, simple visuals like the supposed cover. Soft browns, lots of blue. Pictures of desert highways and LA industrial sites.

I'm half-expecting a Nina cover but I think FLF broke the spell and she's over those years. NFR sounds much less jazzy than HM and much more rockish idk

    Cool

President Obama wears a violet tie, and it is Violet  not violent as I have seen people making a mistake.
    Very poetic

Could be some interesting pre-release bundles coming with "Norman Fucking Rockwell"
(does everyone think this title shall be the final title in the US?"

think both the reference to the poetry book and the album and the song Venice Bitch needs an older perspective.

Venice Bitch from the first second reminds me of the song that pre-Lana was one of only 3 songs since 1968 that I ever considered to be the greatest song of all time. All 3 are referenced in Venice Beach. (MacArthur's Park sung by RIchard Harris, Someone saved my life Elton/Bernie,
and Being Boring by Neil Tenant & Chris Lowe Pet Shop Boys).
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main reference the song is like would be Jimmy Webb's 1967 written "Macarthur Park" which was finally explained a few years ago
Every single reference in the song was something Webb saw in "Macarthur Park" (which is in the Los Angeles (Hollywood) area.
And was a love song to a woman Jimmy Webb had broken up with.

The melody a few seconds later took me five/six full listens to realize it was "Our House" written by Graham Nash (who at the time was living with Joni Mitchell) and sung by Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young. This was written in 1970

Interspersed (as with Mariners Apartment Complex) (so is MAC actually a reference to MacArthur Park?) are references to very early
Elton John (1967 to 1972) and Tiny Dancer, Skyline Pidgeon, the self titled Elton John album, Tumbleweed Connection
and the legendary producer Gus Dundgeon & Arranger Paul Buckmaster

later on in the song there are references to "Crimson & Clover" written and sung by Tommy James & Paul Lucia Jr.which came after MacArthur Park in later 1968, and like MAC Park had many musical shifts.

Also referenced in the song are many Beatles songs including Elton's version of Lucy in the sky with Diamonds,  but with tinges
of Day in the Life,  Daniel (which was similar to Space Oddity and utilized both Gus & Paul)
and the Elton influenced "Bohemian Rhapsody".
    ---------------------------------------
    A very kaleidoscope
Glen Campbell was a part of the "Wrecking Crew" studio musicians that were the music behind MAC Park and Jimmy Webb wrote
and Glen sang "Witchita Lineman" which to me is referenced in the video with the Electrical polls/units (as does the Tiny Dancer official video only recently commissioned by Elton.

Then the mellotron and the harpsichord both used greatly by the producer of the Beatles George Martin (damn shame he passed away in 2016).

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Norman Fucking Rockwell has a connotation to those who are old enough
That is the "All American" proverbial that personally is quite eerie
When I got married, one of our friends said to her, So you got your "White picket fence".

An America that in reality in the 50s did NOT exist and most certainly does not exist at this moment in time
(and over the years, there are many many people who questioned if Rockwell himself was a racist (or was promoting/capitalizing on racism)
Re:the whole current issue of immigrants and immigration and not being welcome conflicting with the reality that most people actually
want their own little place (be it a little house or apartment) with a proverbial picket fence and their own garden and to live in peace love and harmony (trump need not apply nor his bots)

So there is specific meaning in the usage of Norman Fucking Rockwell.
    =====================================================================

"Violet bent backwards over the grass" (and the ultraviolet (not violence) reference is America gone amok and offtrack
and to me pictures a title like Paul Simon's quite poetic "Rene and Georgette Magritte and their dog After the War (the dogs name)
which segues into French later on. And also Simon's "Kodachrome" song, and the horrific "My little town" with its last line conjuring up
images of Lana's Is this Happiness.

And also conjures up Neil & Chris' Pet Shop Boys Being Boring (to me the most poetic song there is, and my favorite PSB song also
perhaps one of their totally untypical songs when one thinks of PSB, who were the last pre-Lana new artist that continuous to this day
who came after Elton (and really thought there would never be anyone who came later that would join that list).

    edit to add more-
upon rewatching the Venice video another 7 times-
the highway, cars, no matter what lane Lana is in, nobody passes her
much like my opinion of Lana on the boardwalk in Salvatore looking back, and nobody catches up to her
Always one step ahead, and just when one would think....she moves further ahead
over and over and over again

As for the book being self-produced, self-sold any which way she chooses, 100% is hers.  (and still possible would be
forwarding some when the time is appropriate to select other places should she choose).
  14. G4YB1RD liked a post in a topic by MahaMaha in Does anyone think Lana's latest lyrics suggest that she's an atheist/agnostic now?
I'm baffled how many of you understand her religous lyrics as literal references. Not to say anybody is wrong here, I just assumed the way I feel about it was quite common.

I think she has always been agnostic in her work (excluding the cult ridden May Jailer era). She portrays the struggle of every human being to question one's own purpose. God is the only figure whether he exists or only exists as a common fantasy amongst our culture to might have an answer to that. Pawn Shop Blues and Coachella both describe the will to let go of everything earthly imaginable just to get a piece of that universal knowledge of life. Just like Eve she wants to taste the forbidden fruit to gain knowledge even if that results in her losing life/losing eternal life. To me the constant mention of God seems more like a feeling of desperation and the last remaining hope. If there is no heaven, none of us will ever find the true meaning of life. Yet death (and the following encounter with God) seems to be the only way to answer her questions as it is humanly impossible (the Absurd) to figure out what our purpose is. Camus believed to accept the absurdity of life and continue living is the true revolt (contrary to suicide being the revolt against the absurdity) which could relate to songs like L4L. I guess that could be a shift.

But then again a lot of her songs give different perspectives on the matter. From claiming one's own human power and dismissing anything above that (Disco/Gods &Monsters) to surrendering completely to the unknown entity (Bel Air/Old Money) or even trying to create heaven on earth (Ride).

Lol I'm really not expecting an album this year. Mid 2019 maybe

Also I feel it will be my least favorite album from her. I really dislike the HIAB clip, and I find Antonoff's production very underwhelming. I wish she would go back to a dark rock sound when it looks like she's heading towards uplifting pop. Whatever tho

Omg... I am just NOW realizing that those underwater scenes y'all keep referring to were used in both the Freak video and the MTWBT video. What kind of lazy mess? Jesus Christ. Has anyone made an edit with the Freak video and used it for UV? I'd love to see that
