making music that's mellow & sparse instrumentally doesn't necessarily mean that she doesn't have any "fire under her ass" or that she's stagnant, she currently prefers a mellow sound & genre, it isn't luscious & cinematic like paradise or honeymoon, it's more casual & introspective, which is totally fine, we are entitled to our opinions about the music itself, but let's not act like she isn't working constantly, we get an album almost every year, she's very prolific

Wildfire here: while I miss the Paradise/Honeymoon and UV sound, I really don't expect Lana to make another record with that same old sound (maybe something similar in a very long time from now, but not equal). Real artists evolve and she is one of the few modern mainstream artists that have done this many times in a very little space of time. She came from folk to experimental indie rock to arabian electronic music to dance music (Boom Like That strikes again) to hip hop to chamber pop to pop to jazz to rock to blues rock to orchestral jazz rock to trip hop to trap to folk rock to piano ballads to soft pop rock to country-influenced music to indie folk to singer-songwriter style and I'm sure this list will get each album longer. She's just like Bowie or Madonna, she "keeps changing all the time". Everyone have different tastes and everyone must respect the differences between us, but we can't just keep driving in a white car and living in an endless delulu world tour. Oh, so now it's time to slander the new tracks just because they have a lot of piano? Jeez. Pages of hate to the new songs when they're actually beautiful.
But apparently a section of LB is not ready for that conversation.
ANYWAYS I hope the announcement is soon, the album would be lovely for the end of summer / during the fall.

Also having 3 or 4 piano ballads doesn't mean that's all we're going to get in the album. NFR had like 5 o 6 and we still got some beach bops and slow jams 

re: the "piano ballads". if u don't like lana's "ballads" u probably have fundamentally misunderstood her. she started her career w "ballads" 
 
and yes! i'd rather have multiple versions with multiple story lines (hence why i'm totally okay w reworked stuff like tnbar)

how about we just let lana do whatever it is she wants 

i understand what you mean and when i listen to previous albums i miss those kinds of songs too, the angry, hopeless ultraviolence, dreamy cinematic honeymoon. but i think what she's doing now isn't for critics or certain parts of audience, it really reflects how lana herself evolves. maybe it sounds naive but i see her as an almost independent singer songwriter expressing herself and her own experience through music, not a usual pop singer following trends.
 
i miss those eras, moods and sounds, her unreleased from 2010-2013 are amazing. but they just don't suit her anymore. we change, she changes too and it doesn't always go along. but i personally just accepted it and watch what road she takes next, and i'm almost sure it won't be just piano ballads forever
