At 13:30 here she starts talking about "comfort music" and she mentions Born To Die (album)

Can't believe I've never seen this thread here. Her new sound is everything. I'm obsessed with Breakout. Gaslight, Grow and Transparent Soul are my next favs. Nothing else from the album has stuck but it doesn't matter, I'm still on a high from those songs.

She always CRUSHES covers
-
Yes!!! Scissorhands makes it onto so many of my playlists for that reason. And same with Knife Under My Pillow before the EP. that one and Scissorhands are two songs I can never skip because the vibe almost always fits. The rest of the EP (I mean excluding Gaslight and Love Songs which I never play) has a more early 2000s rock vibe, similar to early Avril imo. just realising I'm repeating what I said earlier in the thread
-
Caprisongs this is so sweet, I can't wait
-
I think "You asked for this" is very underrated it really gives me chill early-mid 2000s rock vibes. It's a vibe I very much want brought back.
-
At least it's being revived by SaifDelRey on YouTube.

Witch Hazel, Witch Hazel Betrayal, betrayal One gun on the table Headshot if you're able Vs Ever since I fell out of love with you, I fell back in love with me And boy, does it feel sweet, like a summer breeze Ever since I fell out of love with you, I fell back in love with the city Like the Paramount sign sparkling, sparkling just for me

Out of curiosity, which FKA Twigs songs could you hear Lana covering the most?
-
your first Lana Del Rey song came on shuffle in 2023

I got Summertime The Gershwin version which is nice. I've underappreciated it for many months. -
I'm trying my best to not expect a single thing, not even a leak
-
I really need Lana to keep experimenting with windchimes and twinkling sounds. I'm watching the White Dress video for honestly the second time ever, and the windchime sounds before the song starts are mesmerising. I'm so happy something similar showed up in Black Bathing Bathing Suit and Beautiful.

This perfectly describes Tropico for me
-
Ah he's brilliant! I've used his covers to add strings to GKIT, HIADT, Cherry and So Good Ah that's a much better method!
-
Interesting!. I think the best system for a lot of us (stans who can't name a favourite song because it's really a list of around 20 of her songs) would be the rankings based on one of those "song vs song" generators, like this: https://jesseepinkman.tumblr.com/lanadelreysong Well I myself, at least, would have a meltdown if I was choosing only one song per era.

I just clicked on this thread but it took me back to the very first page which I'd never looked at before. The first post (quoting something deleted), well worth a read

Just Christmas: (because mine is in summer) Bel Air HTD Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Tropico Credits instrumental Just winter: All of Ultraviolence because it was released in winter for me and the black & white made sense

Such a cool video wow. This is the kind of level We Appreciate Power deserved. Player of Games is a better song tho, so I'm glad they really went there with this one. the only thing that diminishes it a Tony bit is that its apparently about Elon musk.
-
Thanks! I was there for the whole livestream, and she seemed pretty reserved to say more details. I wondered if she had said anything else about it.
-
I know people saying guns and roses is a good song is very common in this thread so i hope the details of what I'm saying hasn't been said 100 times already. I'm here to express my love for the vocal layering in the pre-chorus + chorus and the psychedelic distortion towards the end of the song. You can't call UV her masterpiece album with psychedelic rock influence without appreciating this song. Her singing in the verses isnt the most vibey and sultry, but if she released something like that nowadays yall would be saying "ugh finally her deep UV vocals are back !!!!" Let me also just say it's a headphones song and the feeling im left with after the song ends is very similar to what I get with honeymoon (album) and cotcc (song). The experience is also heightened on acid so maybe that's half the reason I defend jt

That's not weird at all because it's true! Also, when someone says "woman" in a song, the media expects that to mean whatever she's saying must be representative for all women, which is why there's such a difference in Lana saying girls in MTWBT vs woman in HIADTFAWLMTH.
-
Oh yeah I'm off topic too, and a whole week late... but it probably is just a language thing. The way the English language uses "girls" really is just different. Tbh it probably is a cultural thing and condescending (e.g. calling grown women girls as if they still don't have the right to be respected as an adult human being....), but if we want to keep using the term "girls" I think it's not totally a bad or distasteful thing. I see nothing wrong with feeling young and wanting to remain like your youthful self.
-
I'm 25 and I'm really just transitioning out of calling myself a "girl". I think it's obviously better to call us from 18 and above what we are- women, but I'm not gonna go and say that it's our own fault we get sexualised for calling ourselves girls if we still feel too young (relating to previous lolita comment, not yours).
-
True, people definitely would have twisted it, especially since (I could be wrong and embarass myself here) the song was about Sean. Yet I still would have preferred it. It sounded so blissful and it was exactly what I wanted.
-
I was gonna say that, but Lana's vocals were still beautiful and we got all those demos
