Now, I understand the point Lana was trying to make, which is that she gets backlash for writing about 'taboo' topics such as abuse, drugs, sex, etc, but what in the hell was the point of bringing in all of those other female artists? She's acting as if none of those artists have ever gotten backlash for the same lyrical themes, when in reality they've probably received more hate from it than Lana has. What did they ever do to her? And also, her lyrics are a LOT different than some of the stuff that Doja Cat and Ariana Grande are writing about. Lana has written about abuse, addiction, cheating, etc, and I'm not saying at all that Doja and Ariana are any less than Lana for not writing lyrical content like that, but I don't think I've ever seen songs by them that go that deeply into topics like that. So comparing these artists to her don't really make any sense in the first place.

I don't know, I just think it's a stupid point to make when she's an incredibly successful singer and songwriter, her last album got tons of great reviews and debuted at number 3 on Billboard, and she's a millionaire white woman!! I'm not saying millionaire white women can't have any problems, but having to drag multiple black women over her OWN problems seems kind of entitled. (is that the right word? I don't know, but it's stupid lol)

i don’t believe she meant it to sound racist at all,, but her choices were odd and inexplainable, since she posted this just as black women are dominating the charts and the artists she named are mainly black women who had a lot of hate leveled at them for talking about their sexuality, which she’s just.. ignoring for some reason

You can still end up being racist without intent to be racist, and I think that's the point here. No one is saying Lana is a racist or a bigot or has intent to be evil or insulting. But what she said was tone deaf and ignorant. Black women have suffered a lot of critcism in the arts and have had to fight hard for their place.... they deserve their attention and #1 hits. I always say you don't have to bring others down to raise another person up. Her post is also full of many great points. I think she could have gotten her message across in a more clear and concise way without dropping a single name. It's a complex statement full of good and bad. We can disagree and call her out on the not so good parts, while still agreeing with her on other things.

Considering she's friends with Ariana, I doubt she even meant to be insulting, but she's still wrong for having dropped those names in the way she did. On the flipside, she has a point in the media's reaction and how people have interpreted her music. And there is no doubt she's been an absolute trendsetter for alternative music and paved the way for artists that now sing dark & "depressing" songs as well.

If anything harassing other people for Charli music is worse! She already said back in 2017 her reputation in the industry was damaged due to the leaks; people were wary of working with her cos so much stuff was leaked. Having her fans beg producers and other artists for songs they've done with her is just bad. And at the end of the day it wouldn't affect us but it could potentially risk her relationship with that person. Putting them off working with her in the future cos there's an added pressure of if we don't release the Charli collab her fans will bother us until we do... Which could also put off other people who she's yet to work with.

Just enjoy the leaks we have and the new music she's making and releasing officially! As a fan base we are incredibly lucky that she gives us so much but some seem to misinterpret that and think we have the right to abuse the boundaries.

I think the worst thing about L+F was the lack of the "love" and "fear" concepts that she promoted so much. I was so hyped about it and then... There was no concept at all

Ok but I have songs I love from 10+ years ago from other artists that I still love and they don't sound stale at all to me. I was never trying to drag anything, either... Just giving my opinion on her older songs lol. It doesn't have to be that serious, I still like some of her older songs.

i think the situation was like... you know when 2 bestfriends do a school project together for the first time and they have their creativity blasting out and no one censors the other one because they're having their time.... but it ends up messy for this reason? that was it to me.

haxan cloak fucking nailed it on the Midsommar soundtrack.... this track made me transcend in the movie theater

Does anybody else think that a lot of her songs have aged pretty badly? I tried going back to listen to some of her older singles, and I just didn't like them nearly as much as I did before. Cherry, Alone and Tattoo are still great songs, but besides that... I dunno. She needs to release new fresh songs!
