Her vocals with those deep atmospheric synths, lawd Godt give us an electronic album Queen.

Only on track 2 and loving the shit out of this. It reminds me of old school 90s Madonna and Bjork for sure. A lot better than Caprisongs IMO.

Oh wow I LOVE this I love love love 90s and early 00s electronic music like Chemical Brothers and Orbital. This has scratched my itch, other pop girlies just aren’t doing electronic music like this

Because of our broken dream to have a smooth pre release with no fake dates, no fake titles, with no silence and hints at surf psychedelia

definitely see heavy parallels between perverts and silent hill. the idea of being trapped in an endless loop of guilt w/ punish and silent hill 2

It’s not out in CA yet but everyone keeps talking about white noise. I fucking love white noise. I have like 5 white noise machines in my bedroom to block out traffic sounds, so I’m good with it. I also love ambient music and loved the instrumental tracks on PD. I’m more excited than ever now to listen to Perverts. Sometimes artists don’t do what we want, but having an open mind and good headphones can for sure improve the experience and add more layers. I mean, I say all this having not heard it yet, obviously, but the sentiment stands

I don't know what y'all was expecting from Ethel since she spent most of 2024 releasing ambient songs on soundcloud, one of which was 40 minutes.
But anyway, i truly hope this project creates a dramatic shift in the perception of drone music and ambient. Typing my review for Perverts as we speak. Y'all need to lock urselfs in a dark room and listen to this shit with eyes closed. Imagine the experience of the music. Please.

I like it better then inbred and golden age simply for the fact that she doesn't have that weird effect on her vocals and they are so clear

this. i wish i was in 2022 again stanning ethel bc her fanbase since 2023 has been so weird.
its a mixed batch of prentetious people who wanna gatekeep her and are so excited with this idea that she's trying to push people away, and they project that idea on swifties who came into the fandom who aren't fond at all of the idea of a body of work like perverts. they find it weird and offputting. not really their fault i can't lie, but i wish there was more people who actually could appreciate the art ethel makes, and her concepts etc etc, not all this bullshit about "ur too pussy to listen to ethel cain" or "no one wants to hear shitty white noise etc etc" when the project itself is far beyond the idea of just white noise. did you even listen to perverts in the first place?

Im on title track rn... It's like a mix of reverend kristin michael hayter with silent hill and white death by father2006. im already feeling this project, it's like an audio imaginative experience (which is what most ambient music with darker elements is supposed to provoke btw)
she has to make a horror movie about this omfg.

update now!
i’m all in. i’ve been reading interviews for each song on yessaid and am taking my TIME with this!! absorbing and feeling everything. i went back to Little Earthquakes and had time with that and the b-sides, now I’m on the UTP b-sides.
Currently, my favorites are Flying Dutchman, Winter, Precious Things, Mary, Honey, Cornflake Girl, and the live version of Sugar on Venus Live, Still Orbiting (I was curious and went ahead!!) — but I love every song.
I really am obsessed with the live version of Sugar right now. Oh my god. And when she said “I've written a song called "Sugar" about those people you meet that you'll never have a relationship with, but if you could have 25 minutes alone with them, you'd have this incredible affair. There's something magical and you want to merge with it in every way possible. That's why I could imagine being a carnivore thousands of years ago; you want to merge with them so intensely you could almost eat them. Say we didn't have bodies and blood and guts, but just released these light energies like colours, then we could just merge. That's what making love is really about. Your blue connects with my pale orange; a little bit of fire-engine red with your lime green! That's what they were doing when they ate someone, like their lover or a beaten enemy. It's a bit different with the Romans buggering the guys they beat -- it all gets distorted down the line. They were merging; that's what they were doing.”
…
Wow. I felt that so hard. I did first read that when I was HEAD over HEELS infatuated with a guy though and now I’ve come to my senses, but it still is intense. And I FEEL those high notes at the end of the song so painfully. Yeah! Tori Amos!
