The fact she had Push Push Push, Dark Part Of Your Heart, Shame On Me and Malibu for Era 1 and decided to never put them out and instead release Homework

it feels like each of these pre-release singles are lacking in some department - this hell is a mess lyrically, catch me in the air feels a bit too on the nose with its lyrics and sonic references, and hold the girl's production on the verses sound too detached from the choruses. i know she's trying to merge genres and make pop songs about stuff that usually isn't discussed in pop music (the latter of which i really do appreciate), but it feels like the lyrical/production quality is being sacrificed for the sake of having some commercial appeal. i'm really hoping this is a sawayama situation where she just made weird single choices and the rest of the album is actually good

so far it's my favorite album of the year!
motomami is supposed to be experimental, fresh and quirky in a fun way and I don't understand why people are so angry about homegirl having fun and experimenting with other stuff and having some silly pop lyrics here and there. people make it seem like she's just talking gibberish from track 1 to track 16, which isn't true at all. one of the themes she explores throughout the whole thing is fame and its consequences and she just wrote about that in a different way, it's not like she got stupid and doesn't know how to write anymore
if people want deep lyrics from beginning to end just listen to her other projects?? the album is about her, what she likes and it has a clear artistic direction that she created and imo does not lose to el mal querer, I think both projects are on the same level of greatness even though they're complete opposites
I think the minimalistic and experimental production is what makes it so great and it's clearly the focus point of this project, so if someone doesn't vibe with that I understand, but I think it's pretty unfair the amount of hate torwards her and the album just because of some silly lyrics

edit: so sorry for the essay lmao

Not true! I just got some burning hot tea, she re-recorded Pray For Rain at Capitol THIS YEAR & it should be on the album! She hasn’t submitted the full record to the label yet, my friend told me she just submitted one other song that was “way better than Don’t Forget”. I’m 99% sure it’s Descending (or it could be Pray For Rain), but he didn’t have a title. It’s really weird that the insiders have more of Masochism than the actual label, usually when you’re signed the masters are due right after completion. I guess since she’s such a perfectionist they’re technically “not complete”, but Lovers Die, Descending & a few others are going around in lossless
