She applied a moisture masque to her hair & burned all of her leggings, HIADT has been annihilated from planet Earth & the critter friends have emigrated south, to hell.

But other things aside I would really like to know what's going on in her head and with her life for her to behave like this. I know eventually she will release the album and we will listen the songs and forget this period of time and it bugs me that we will never know the reason why things happened this way. Like is she feeling pressured? Is she not feeling that creative or motivated? Is she having problems with her label? Is her management not helping her enough? Is she just not into the whole bureaucracy of releasing an album right now and just wants to live in the moment? Is she delighted to have friends for the first time and decided to pay attention to them and work on these new relationships so they will last instead of putting effort in her career? 
 
We will NEVER know. She will just release the album eventually and that will be it. Lana is one of my favorite artists and I've always seen her as a very hard working woman who loves to create and release stuff, so this new behavios really fascinates me in a way and I'd love to know what caused that change.

I don’t know if I have any more patience for these snippets. Truly reached the end of my tether. It’s been like a year... my brain is fragmented with these LQ chopped up songs I have no clue what the titles are. I just want to enjoy, stream, and support her new shit but it’s just Instagram snippet after Instagram snippet and it’s like almost insulting?

my $0.02 on the hope is a keyboard smash discourse: i actually really love the somewhat awkward, almost ungainly lines (e.g. ipad, shaking my ass, etc. etc.). they kind of break the 4th wall a bit and feel like an allusion to the whole idea of feeling not entirely comfortable in her image/persona. like yes, she could write another song about eternal love and red lipstick and jewelry and being pretty while she cries and her beautiful man and cars and the color blue and drinking and smoking and living fast and dying young and eating ice cream, with lyrics that look and sound pretty and fit into aesthetic moodboards, but instead she inserts these decidedly unpoetic images into her usual template. the whole thing feels almost abrasive: the lyrics, the almost total lack of production (you want strings? you want beats? you want guitars? here, have a couple piano chords), the aggressively informal cover art, the sentence-length, decapitalized title (no other song in her discography has a title like that). the more i think about it, the more it appears like a concerted effort to smash things up, especially considering it's the last complete song we've gotten from her. it seems almost like a tacit scream of frustration, like someone locked in a room (the persona/sound/style/image she's acquired, for better or for worse) banging on the walls and smashing the glass in the picture frames. like, "maybe i can't unlock the door and leave but i can at least subvert what i'm supposed to do in here and how i'm supposed to behave."
 
maybe i'm reaching but when you put all the pieces together it just feels really sad and desperate and angry idk even despite the chorus and title

but like i said in my above post, she’s clearly been taking a break as we’ve seen from her spending time w her friends and doing fun activities and overall not mentioning music or her career. if lana del rey is on break then why does she have to dress up as lana del rey? but what she has released has her own bare faced selfies as the covers. so she probably wants us to accept her as she is and anyone who doesn’t like it is free to leave but it’s not her problem and she’s not going to change for them.

in my opinion... she’s changed, but that doesn’t mean we have to abandon ship and go find someone else to stan, she still has more to offer. people are gonna talk about how different she’s acting, her lack of makeup and hair styling, casual clothes, overall more laid back attitude and change of perspective in lyrics, and those of us who stand by her can stand up for her and defend these changes. she knows people are gonna be resistant to these changes especially cuz normally she’s known for her glamour. but the “i’m your man” lyric distances herself from traditional femininity and what type of performance is expected of her/the roll she’s expected to fill as a woman, especially one known for her submissive lyrics. i think she knows what she’s doing

tbh seeing comments about her image/“new persona” are really bothersome. i don’t know how her natural, bare face is less genuine than when she’s wearing eyeliner/lip liner/lash extensions/ etc.. she’s dressed causally her whole life. i mean she used to perform in jeans and that god awful green capitol records shirt for gods sake like,, idk. women will never be free huh. first you all diagnosed her with depression when she stopped wearing makeup and started tying her hair back or had some frizz. now because she does yoga and drinks matcha she’s basic with no personality? even tho these things really have nothing to do with her personality?? and besides, yoga and matcha are healthy, wholesome things. do you want her to go back to being an alcoholic?? my personal taste is very glamorous but i don’t dress like that day to day, it’s exhausting. i’m sure even moreso when you’re a celebrity and every time you leave your house you’re expected to perform for the public even if it’s just getting groceries. just let her exist naturally she doesn’t need lash extensions and fresh acrylics and an outfit that shows off her bare legs every time we see her . it’s like you guys forget ldr is a persona and a character she performs on stage for us, she’s not Lana Del Rey born to die cola honeymoon west coast million dollar man when she’s getting ice cream and window shopping with her friends. she’s lizzy grant (aka HERSELF). she doesn't have to be lana del rey when she doesn't want to. i think what we're seeing now is just lizzy grant, the most genuine version of herself because…. it’s her???

I don’t think we know who she is anymore. After the ‘Plain Jane’ Billboard cover last year as well as the ‘Plain Jane’ photo of her sitting by the side of the highway, she’s clearly negatively reacting to her former glamorous image and saying, “I’m not that.”
 
Keep in mind that she’s been roundly criticized by the Left, by members of her own party, many of whom are feminists against the glamorization of women, which they consider a male plot to keep women oppressed.
 
Personally, I think she’s going through an identity crisis, or coming out of one, which is to be expected, perhaps, for someone who has assumed numerous identities over the last ten years or so, each with its own set of expectations.
 
That’s why the NFR cover art will tell us a lot—not necessarily who she is or ‘ really is,’ but at least how she is projecting herself to the world now.
