Chemtrails Over the Country Club - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
jvcx replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
The record's grown on me and I ordered the nice cover one on Fnac. Breaking Up Slowly and For Free are the worst tracks she's ever released though bc of the collabs -
I've cried every time I've seen the film during the part where On the Nature of Daylight plays
-
It's not necessarily a bad album, just not all that and it's definitely the weakest one yet. Some of the songs are okay at best and it's all downhill with the exception of Yosemite which would've been perfect on LFL. Honestly I think it would be good for her to take a few years off from recording material or at least work with another producer but hey we know that ain't happening. Each Jack Antonoff produced track is just a copy of its predecessor and Jack honey, your printer is running out of ink. Also I do not understand how the official cover fits the record at all. Thank god we have the alternative one which I guess I'll have to get from Fnac.

I've never really understood how her music got so much praise but I always found her artistic image and visuals pretentious to say the least. Also I've never thought much of her relationship with Maddie but the cuddling and other things you mentioned do make me uncomfortable. From what I've read it seems like there could be some kind of power relationship between the two. Also the film definitely deserves all the negative backlash.

Ugh yeah we need a reissue, I did this about a year ago

Unnecessary except for That Kind of Woman, love the chorus. I like the cover art though.

There's also a video!!! I'm sorry I ever doubted you Sam he's hot again ok

I found it, I watched it and I hope it gains more worldwide attention despite currently being only on FX and Hulu. It's so good. Though I wish they had even mentioned Lou M. Taylor since she's been scheming the conservatorship ever since the beginning but she sues everyone over the tiniest things so I guess it would've been too risky or something, I don't know. My heart breaks for Britney and I so much hope she gets her wishes granted one day and her freedom back. I've been a stan for a decade, I saw her on Femme Fatale tour and I love her so much I can't even put it into words

I'm just waiting for someone to upload it online bc we have no FX or Hulu in this corner of the world and I won't get a VPN just for this...

The 2022 After Hours tour was announced today and he's kicking off the European leg just a few kilometres from me... missed his gig in 2017 so I'm trying to get tickets for me and my friend this time Edit: I almost lost hope but after 30 minutes I finally managed to get us good seats!!! And now I'm even more broke than I already was...

Btw isn't it a bit convenient how this surfaced just a few days before the Framing Britney Spears documentary?
-
There's so much potential when she starts singing "I'm an exaholic, call it what you call it / All I know is I want it, I-I can't help it" but then it goes... absolutely nowhere? It's like they're building up to something big but the climax is just some chiming plucks.

I have no comments on the actual series as I stopped watching it a lifetime ago but oh my god that photoshop is so bad, wtf is going on with Kaley

I take back everything I said about A Quien Quiera Escuchar, I got the CD for my collection (which is still missing his first two records) so I've been listening to it lately and it's actually pretty good! La Mordidita is still the best track on the record but Adiós has grown on me so much and I've been surprisingly addicted to Isla Bella I love taking a look at the album cover every now and then bc he looks smoldering hot on it, that chest hair is making me feel things...

The viking haircut actually could've been somewhat cute if the baby wasn't only a year old, had more hair to work with and was done by a professional. Now it just looks stupid and I feel sorry for him. Edit: Also I think they should grow a common sense and stop including their baby in their weird shit, yes I do believe they love him and want all the best for him but come on now... to an outsider it feels like they do all these decisions for themselves and not their kid. With celebs like Azealia digging up their dead cats and boiling them these days, I can actually imagine Grimes putting their baby through some elf ear modifying or stuff like that just because she likes the aesthetic. I hope there's laws in the US to prevent things like that though.

Tame Impala, It Might Be Time played sometimes at my work and I hate it so much

I loved the animated series as a kid but this looks like absolute shit I won't spend a minute of my time on.

I'm a day late but happy birthday to Vulnicura! Took me a while to learn to love the record back then but once I did it hit me hard. I've said this dozens of times already but it's definitely in my "Holy Trinity" top 3 with Homogenic and Utopia as I really just can't rank her albums. My boyfriend sometimes wonders how I can listen to such a heavy record so much (he's a fan as well but definitely not in the same proportion as I am) and so did my parents when I lived back home, lying on my bed for hours with the record on repeat. It's definitely heavy and full of heartbreak, disappointment and anger but I personally don't find it depressing at all as I somehow find so much serenity and relief in the songs and the arrangements. My number one favorite record to listen to on my walks in the forest - there's nothing better than walking in nature and breathing fresh air with songs like Stonemilker and Black Lake gently playing in your ears. Definitely one of the turning points in my life, thank you Björk Also Notget is the shit! I literally do those ritualistic-like dance moves of hers when I'm alone at home

Bitch milked it when she was big and now we only get like 10 songs every three or four years and a few remixes I want b-sides! I want Utopia Flutes! I want Losss remixes! I want a Björk Orchestral album! I want something! At least there's the Sonos radio thing to look forward to, I'm really interested in hearing what she likes to listen to. Then there are the Björk Orchestral streams in the Spring and my concert in June but really... it's hard out here. I'm currently trying to scrape together some of the singles that have my favorite b-sides and I even found some of them being sold in Finland but 7,90€ and shipping for I Miss You? Really? At least I finally copped the Mouth Mantra (The Haxan Cloak Mix) LP... I just really want this Hymn song to be for The Northman so we could get at least something if not the lead single for B10 by the end of the year. Imagine it being featured in the first trailer and then dropped on digital with physical LP singles announced... oh if only

What are the most recent leaks we have? Trance and Softly from Volta?

I don't know which I find more disturbing, the English dub (you just don't watch Ghibli films dubbed) or the 3D CGI animation - it does look like a Ghibli animation but at the same time it looks so... lifeless. I know traditional 2D animation takes very much time and effort but 3D CGI isn't that easy either, considering it took them four years to make this film and the end result looks like this. Apparently Goro Miyazaki didn't want the animation to be as detailed and photorealistic as Pixar animations but maybe they should've gone into that direction, considering their 2D animations are incredibly detailed. I'm definitely interested in seeing this and I think the cat is a very nice nod to Kiki's Delivery Service (I had a Jiji plushie as a kid), maybe the Japanese voice actors give the characters some personality they lack with the English cast.

Yeah I was watching the DVD and thought exactly the same... need her back
