Oh, Sirens material. Listened to that album twice. I know many ppl love it here, so I will remain quiet here.

I can definitely see Lana bringing back some of her Lizzy-esque surf noir vibes with just a hint more rock. I think that period of her life was her most creative; before fame, before criticism, before a fanbase, when it was just her and a few producers working on AKA, she had freedom to express herself (no matter how weird.) I think now, she feels less free as an artist and more restricted by public opinion and interviews and articles. I think during her time writing BTD/P/UV, she felt as if she needed to stick to more mainstream lyrics, for example, love/heartbreak/etc. Now that she's been in the business for a few years I think she no longer gives a shit about trying to appeal to the masses, I think UV's "unlistenable" sound is a clear indicator of that. I think she's ready to venture into more surreal topics which makes me very excited for Honeymoon. Think Mermaid Motel meets Blake's guitar meets Ronson's jazzy production with a summer vibe. I think that's how the album will be, and I trust Lana will prevail no matter what.

Well I hate to post three times in a row, but apparently no one can think of anything relevant to the topic, so I'll get us started.

Well, I'm starting to really anticipate Lana's idea of "surrealist" lyrics. I often see you guys saying that she'll never sing about anything but romance, men, etc. but I mean a lot of songs from AKA are very surrealist in style and theme. Particularly Oh Say Can You See (an absouloute gem from the Lizzy era) and if we get an album of songs of that lyrical quality I might just die.
Other examples of Lana's surreal theme:
    For K Pt. 2
    Gramma
    Mermaid Motel

So yeah, in other words I'm still desperate for a comeback of SURF NOIR. I know so far her statements on the record haven't sounded the slightest bit similar to AKA (but Raise Me Up IS kinda "orchestral grunge") but I mean the fact is with how unpredictable Lana can be my guess is probably as good as hers

I don't get why you have to be so vitriolic regarding Miley's cover. She was paying homage to Lana, not trying to "outdo" her own song.
Speaking of live lounge, it seems a lot of you have forgotten Lana's cover of Goodbye Kiss. That was a fucking outstanding live performance. I think the only place she has trouble with live performances is when she's trying to sing over Blake's loud guitar and the obnoxious fan girls in the front row screaming their tits off. When Lana's given a respectfully quiet, calm venue she can actually kill any song (with the obvious exception of her SNL performance but come on it was her first live performance and it was being televised LIVE, that was too much stress to put on someone like her when she was just starting out)

Still not sure why we're discussing live performances at all, I thought this was a thread for Lana's new album

Not everyone agrees with you on this. And if you're trying to make people come around to your opinion, you're doing a terrible job.

    Here's the reality:
Adele hit a zeitgeist with her album and hasn't followed it up nearly 5 years later. The Beatles were their own monster, 40 years ago. The comparisons are nonsense. Lana Del Rey has always been on the periphery, she even says it herself. She is an IMMENSELY polarizing figure. The Beatles and Adele are not. They were safe, they were for all ages. Lana Del Rey is not prime-time, she's not Clive Davis, she's not the Grammys, she's not John Lennon, she's not 20x platinum. She is maligned just as much as she is adored. Why are you so intent on making her a Billboard creation? Let the bitch be whatever she wants.

I need this back in my life. I was watching the Born To Die video and its so epic, like its on the same scale as an actual film.

Honestly I have no fucking idea what she could do and I'm sure I'm not in the minority either, I wouldn't be surprised if she disappeared off the face of the planet for 5 years or turned into one of the biggest stars of the year or whatever - I find her very mysterious but feel that if she had the chance to stop for a while she would.

After 300+ songs now of pretty much the same topic I do hope this album improves lyrically - I LOVE BTD, Paradise, UV, LDRAKALG, even all of her unreleased stuff and listen to it all the time, am excited as hell for Honeymoon but it would be good to hear some newer topics in her songs. that saying tho I'll love anything she throws at us

I am one of those who are here for more hip hop/pop influenced beats and my reasoning behind it is that that's the kind of music I like? Do I need another reason? I have an appreciation for Lana's typical style of music (see: Ride, or like you mentioned, AFFA, JFK, etc) but I also like when an artist has a variety of down-, mid-, and up-tempo songs. Seeing as this last album gave us mostly down- to mid-tempo songs aside from the bop that is Florida Kilos, I would like to see Lana spice it back up, especially if she is planning to go in a happier direction with Honeymoon. Don't get me wrong, it took me awhile to warm up to it, but I like Ultraviolence and the direction she took. It suits her! But I think Lana is a very versatile artist and does really well with faster, hip-hop influenced songs like OTTR and it would be a shame if she never sang another songs in that style.

I want an album closer for Honeymoon along the lines of My Best Days.. it seems really fitting in my mind. Like, I'm definitely here for some happier Lana songs, but the longing & reminiscent vibe of My Best Days would be such a great way to close an album with the title Honeymoon in my opinion..

Also some of y'all are so rude ew.

Do you guys really think there'll be a title track? Honeymoon to me just sounds like a setting for the mood of the album. Then again I thought the same thing when Lana announced UV

I like the title tracks from BTD and UV but to me having a title track in each album just seems a bit boring. It just takes away the mystique of the title, at first you wonder why the record is called Honeymoon, is there some kind of running story regarding a relationship? Maybe the whole album will be Lana envisioning the marriage she and Barrie never had? But if there's just a song on the record called Honeymoon, then you almost feel like that's the only reason behind the record's title. It's like with Paradise, since there's no song on the record called paradise, the title feels more like a summary of the album in general (and that record is simply sublime so it's a fitting name)

I'm still not half sure what I'm saying but that's always how I've felt about title tracks, in case anyone cares.

i don't think there's anything wrong with saying stuff like oh maybe she should've worn a different colour dress or did her hair differently bc that's just constructive criticism but when you're like she look like she so fat she look a whale she look like her pussy stank like.....that's just unfair.
