Why do people apologize for critiquing her live shows? If you pay to hear her sing live and she's barely singing, don't you deserve a refund? Or at the very least, the right to complain lmao

Hearing how people save up money to see her and then get subpar performances is sad. You paid money to see her, yes you are entitled to a good performance that had effort put into it.

Her older performances were really good, where she gets into the song and she's alone on stage. Her vocals were unique, everything was uniquely Lana. From the dropping down low during body electric, the way her hands would move during songs and her hugging her lead guitarist during solos. It's sad to see how 'dead' she's become. I think criticism over time really wore her down. She's also mentioned having health problems.

And god, digressing but her performances on that one french show, she looked impossibly beautiful. I'm always sad I got into Lana so late that I completely missed 2012 Lana. OH AND THAT ICONIC LANA AT THE SWEDEN SHOW, where she does The Hairflip during Cola. RIP that Lana.

I'd hope somebody truly thinking their culture equates to things such as a lightbulb can have their ignorance speak for itself in that case.

    1. I won't bother replying past this comment case it just keeps proving how little you truly know, and it's just basic knowledge at this point. You truly don't have the depth nor mind to talk about this, stick to bitching about 'complainers complaining' in mainthread.

    and secondly,

I'm not going to be DM'ing you. You didn't bother to do so with Noel last night when he offered, and he still ended up writing paragraphs for you. If I have to go through the manual and eventual emotional labor of trying to teach someone who doesn't give a fuck I can happily forward you my paypal in advance so I can get something out of teaching a child.

Yeah, you definitely weren't; trying to use passive aggressive language to imply I was a hypocrite for saying what I did. Don't toss stones you can barely pick up then try and hide the hands, Peroxide. It's incredibly apparent your depth in any conversation whatsoever is that equal to a college boy trying to be devil's advocate & take a moral high ground in any and every topic you can hamfist your unneeded opinion into. The usage of 'big boy' words at the tail end of this comment reaffirm my point even more, you don't have to sound smart to make people believe you are, you can just prove it by knowing what you're talking about. If your views of Arab culture are solely 'Math' and Greeks, 'Philosophy' you're ignorant. Nobody ever said you can't appreciate culture, and one would do that by supporting traditions made BY a community FOR that community. Maybe make some recipes, go to a charity event to put some revenue into their already oppressed community, do something productive.

But asking white people not to wear ceremonial headdresses for the fact their appreciation of them is purely vanity based, shallow, and ignorant to the purpose of said pieces? A crime against the culture of humanity ig. I'd highly appreciate it if you were to accept you clearly don't carry the range needed to partake in this discussion.

It's faulty logic that has been disagreed upon and critiqued by every damn minority under the sun yet people who don't give a fuck as to listening to the communities their "appreciation" affects, don't seem to care. Eyeliner made by the Egyptians and Math made by the Arabs isn't among the same vein as CEREMONIAL AND RELIGIOUS GARB MADE BY INDIGENOUS AMERICANS. It's like when Black people say not to wear box braids, dreads, bantu knots, etc. and white people get pissy at the very idea and tell them they can't use lightbulbs or printing press. If you truly think your 'culture' is made notable by inventions or objects such as those, then it speaks for itself.

@ please just don't. It's not the same. This isn't about using math, or eating sushi, or learning foreign languages or whatever. I wish I was able to explain it myself, but I'm too tired right now. So when you can, please do some research on the subject. You're a smart person and I know you'll get it.

yall realize its mostly Lana whos asking for a picture? whenever lana signed my items or took the picture with me, it was HER asking "do you want me to sign this / do u want to take a picture?"

and i really dont get why yall so salty about Win going to Lana's shows. He can afford it and he queues early so he deserves his front row spot while you guys are sitting at home behind a computer. i guess its just jealousy

My fucking god, there are a few reasons Lana is better than Lady Gaga and you managed to list exactly zero. I can say all the same things about Lana; in fact, it's almost like you're begging me to.

    10-minute pretentious music videos?

    Generic crap dance songs?

Considering herself to be an avant-garde artist?

     Playing the victim?

    No sell out required?

Everyone keep doing the most, meanwhile I'm not allowing this to be some kind of uninformed circle jerk. I won't say some of the things you people are saying about Gaga are untrue but there is some self-awareness that is sorely absent.

Y'all need to understand we are different beings and are entitled to different opinions. Some will like it, some will not, but what you guys need to understand is that just because we're fans it doesn't mean we need to swallow everything she throw at us without some critical thinking. A lot of people hated LFL and I genuinely LOVED the album, but now I'm not pleased with Hope, the poetry and thats it. "ooooh but what if she's reading this thread right now she would be so sad" well if she was reading this thread she would know we're fucking tired of her anthics and if she really cared she would have given some piece of information to us, so that excuse is not realistic. It's not like I'm going to her instagram and sayind YOUR NEW MUSIC SUCKS GO BACK TO THE TRAILER PARK WHERE YOU BELONG BITCH, I'm stating my opinion in a safe place where opinions are meant to be expressed. And thats that on that.

i'm happy lana has gotten to a very comfortable place in her life, but it's become clear that she is not stimulated or challenged in any way. her lyrics are lazy. her visuals are lazy (that's being kind). her art has undoubtedly regressed. given that, it's incredible that the music still sounds good and the lyrics are okay, but come on. go listen to anything pre-LFL. nothing she puts out compares. she's wasting away in LA and seems to have surrounded herself with yes-men.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's rude and vile, unless you have thin skin and aren't used to the sometimes harsh aspects of critiquing. No one said "Lana is a disgusting poet, let's burn her house down with all her books in it" the only thing I've read is that people saw it as somewhat amateur and subpar, considering she has been writing for the past 15+ years, took writing classes, and basically submerged herself in Whitman, Nabokov, Sylvia Plath and beat poetry for a long time. I'm glad she's writing poetry, I just think she should have sat on this poem for another year before releasing it. I have hope the poetry book won't be like what she posted on instagram, considering how beautiful the title is. I just think some members here shouldn't be so dramatic and act as though we've signed a petition to have Lana's hands binded and her mouth sewn shut. If things like this really bother you, I wouldn't necessarily say being a part of a forum is the best idea, considering it is a union of all aspects of opinion, not a biased playground of compliments and devotion. As I've stated and will again, I'm glad Lana is writing. I also think, since she genuinely (kinda) enjoyed pilot classes, maybe going to some writing classes would do her some good. She could invite her new gal pals, bring her coffee, discuss literature, and improve on something she has potential for. There's nothing wrong with working towards improvement, I mean, even singers like Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande have vocal coaches! Growth hurts no one.
