Whats up to all the good folks out there of Lana boards. Just wanted to use this story as my introduction to the message board

Been a fan of Lana's music for about year now. & What really got me into her was when i heard Off To The Races. Everything about that record just pulled me in. From her 50-60s adventurous vocal performance, to lyricism, content & just the overall production. She just really gave me an experience. Pretty soon after i started searching the net (youtube, google, & music sites) for anything related to her, and from that point on i couldn't get enough. & It was during this time where i began experimenting with a lot of the stuff i heard from her, being that im producer. Remixing some of the songs that caught my attention. Soon after a couple of the songs that i had worked on and released was noticed & realized by one of the writers, Mike Daly featured on Born To Die. & He showed his appreciation letting me know how much he loved it, and i was extremely humbled and honored. Shortly after, Lana followed me, & i just began to love her even more lol.

The article is out for a while but no one posted it, so I thought I might

The veteran DJ reaches the Top 10 and inks an album deal with Interscope. While many in clubland know Cedric Gervais for his residency at Space in Miami, his consistent output of remixes, and an outsized personality on and off the decks, the DJ is reaching a whole new audience this summer thanks to Lana Del Rey. Gervais’s rework of the singer’s “Summertime Sadness” reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 last week (it slipped to 10 this week despite a continued rise in sales and streams), giving the experienced EDM jock the biggest hit of his career.

Billed as Cedric Gervais vs. Lana Del Rey, the track was originally remixed by Gervais as a labor of love. “After the success of my track ‘Molly,’ a lot of people asked me to remix big artists,” Gervais explains. “To me it’s not about the money, so I turned down a lot of people. But Lana Del Rey came in. I didn’t even ask how much money I just said please send me the vocals right away and I did the track in one day. I wasn’t thinking if it was going to be a hit or not, I just love and respect the artist that she is.”

Touring Europe this summer, Gervais has watched the sleeper hit grow,  even the  giving the seasoned producer a sense of accomplishment. “In every country I’m going to, I hear my remix on the radio,” he says happily. “I heard it on the MTV Awards while they’re introducing Selena Gomez. It motivates me. I started a long time ago in the business with the passion of being a DJ and all of the sudden I make a track like this I get even more excited and motivated. It opens the door to so many things.”

One of those things includes an album deal with Interscope, ushered in by the label's A&R honcho, John Ehmann, who was responsible for the “Summertime” remix, even though the track was ultimately released through indie dance label Spinnin’ Records--a move designed to reach and appeal to Gervais’ core DJ fanbase. According to Gervais, when Ehmann saw “60,000 people singing the song” at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas he returned to Interscope’s L.A. offices ready to put the weight of Del Rey’s home label behind the song’s promotion.
“I love the label and I really love what they’re doing with Zedd at the moment,” says Gervais. “They’re putting me with so many great songwriters and producers that it’s the right thing to do.”

Working with “Summertime’s” veteran co-songwriter Rick Nowels (profiled recently in Chart Beat), Gervais promises an album of less-than-obvious featured vocalists but rather “very cool, very iconic” new artists.

Co-written by Nowels and Del Rey, “Summertime Sadness” first appeared on Del Rey’s 2012 album “Born To Die” and was even released as a single in Europe that year. While Gervais was also asked to rework “Young and Beautiful,” the featured single from The Great Gatsby, promotion for that track is being held until awards season this winter.

Despite an uptick in studio time (Gervais says a session with Alanis Morissette is in the near future), Gervais remains a touring DJ. For that facet of his career, the song’s success is directly seen in his renewed ability to pack a club, particularly in North America.
“The [previous] time I played Vancouver the promoter called my agent and said ‘we’re not moving a lot of tickets, we can’t pay the price we’re paying.’ And last time I played Vancouver [at the beginning of the summer], I sold out the week before.”

I know im not the only who's been anticipating Tropico since the day of its announcement, and thought it would be out sooner. Like at least by the end of the summer. But its better that Lana decided to wait to release it when i think about it. Because it gives more people time to know that's coming. Can't wait for it. Ride with something real special. So i can only imagine how this is going to turn out.

“Lana Del Rey earned respect because she is so good” says her co-writer
Rick Nowels, the co-writer and co-producer of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness‘, has revealed that she rose to fame so quickly because people could see her real talent and artistry. Speaking to Billboard, the songwriter explained that he saw something in her that was “magical” before she became so well-known and wasn’t surprised when she went on to enjoy an incredibly successful career:

How did you and Lana Del Rey come to write “Summertime Sadness” together?

I met Lana in summer 2011. I had heard some of her songs on YouTube and I loved what she was doing. When we wrote it, I realized that she was a brilliant songwriter and a magical artist. She writes the kind of music I want to listen to.

As the song is Del Rey’s first Pop Songs hit, do you feel that she’s earning respect that may have eluded her after her not exactly warmly-received “Saturday Night Live” appearance last year?

Lana has earned respect because she is so good. She has consistently released high-quality songs with artistry and vision. People are starving for real artistry. As more people hear her music, she’s gaining more fans.

IS LANA  EVER GOING TO REALIZE THAT AMERICA LOVES HER OR IS SHE NEVER GOING TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND LIVE IN THE PAST

Lana really does sound like she needs a break from it all. From the touring, which she sound relieved of, to constantly being in artist work mode. She just needs some time to break & live life. Rest up. Allow herself to figure things out. Let the inspiration for music to come. & Allow that internal well fill up. Because she did say ''I don’t have anyone writing anything for me. It’s such an internal well and if it’s not full, it’s just not full.'' & Overal with this interview, she doesnt seem as irritated as she was with Electronic beats magazine one

This interview makes me sad... she should just go on hiatus or something for a while and enjoy herself before she comes back to music. There's nothing more upsetting than an artist forced to make music.

    Aw, baby.

I've been so hyped on the idea of a new Lana release that I don't even know how to react to it potentially coming later. She still seems passionate about the idea of the album and even about "Black Beauty" itself. I really hope it makes the album, however long it takes. Being a fan of Lana since Born to Die's release has been a lot like getting spoiled. There are so many leaks and she's been pretty consistent in putting out new stuff even if certain ideas fall to the wayside. I do have to wonder how ready fansites are for a drought.

What the hell is she talking about with Steve Mertens, though? Is that something to do with Sirens? I mean 8 years ago would have been 2005 OMG channel the vibe of May Jailer with the voice and songwriting talent of Lana Del Rey. PLEASE.

Should I merge this with the other Radio.com thread since that article was just kind of an introduction that used snippets of this interview?

Come on, Lana - you are a songwriting machine if there ever was one.  Plus, I'll buy your next record the day it comes out, and I don't care what's on it.

That said, I'm getting the vibe from this interview she has to produce another record, sooner rather than later.  I hope I'm wrong about that because even a great songwriter like Lana Del Rey can't pull music out of the air on demand.  She has to have time to wait for the spark.  I hope she doesn't have to rush, but just her average songs meshed with her wonderful voice will keep her relevant for a long time.

Jay Z, Pharrell, & Lana Del Rey -  Allure (OTTR) [urban Noize Remix] (Video Preview)

Since last year we had the idea to combine our remix to Jay Z’s record Allure featuring Pharrell & Lana Del Rey to a high octane car chase scene from James Bond’s Quantum Solace, because it captured the energy of the music perfectly. & As well the music to the scene. Creating a whole new experience with the record.

The Allure remix comes off our Lana Del Rey & Jay Z remix EP released last year titled Lana

i used audacity for the methamphetamines mix because its the most simplistic / intuitive one out there imo. there are others that are much more technical and proficient for stuff like this, like abelton and fl studio but i've downloaded those before and seriously got a fucking migraine within 2 minutes just trying to navigate the available options. but honestly tho think the level of difficulty ultimately comes down to how much patience you've got
