Personally I think the video was absolutely perfect for the song. The visuals are breathtaking, it's super cinematic, Marina stands out so well wearing all red against the white white snowy landscape, it's very striking, visually pleasing, and artistic. Almost looks like it could accompany the lead song to a movie soundtrack, in the best way.

Wow it truly is a beautiful song and makes me emotional and nostalgic hearing new Marina for the first time in a long time, I do think it's not as powerful as her previous leads I mean Hollywood, Primadonna, Froot...they're just so defining of each era and this one is more of an album track to me. That being said it's one of those songs that you'll definitely listen to again and again, it's not forgettable and it's not boring. Just not lead worthy I don't think...

It’s cute but not fresh. Sounds like a mix of all of her ballads (Valley Of The Dolls, anyone?). Definitely not a material for album’s first single. I expected something fresh, experimental from her but I’m afraid she left her experimental-self with her persona.

A bit weak but cute- an odd choice for a lead single.

Is it like lead single good or track 9 on the album good that nobody really cares about but the gays and true fans

Remember when Welsh-Greek singer Marina Lambrini Diamandis appropriated Latin culture on “Baby” by singing over a Latin guitar riff? At least she had the decency to feature Luis Fonsi...

I mean what was Kim thinking having a slightly Urban Bridge without a black rapper to cover herself!!!

Kim is absolutely not appropriating anyone’s culture. Do you even know what cultural appropriation means? It’s when you take/are selective of the aspects of someone’s culture that you like opposed to the rest of them which you don’t. For example, white girls wearing bindis because they like the aesthetic yet making fun of/bullying Indian women for other aspects of their culture. There are white rap artists too like Eminem and Iggy Azealea to name just two, so are they appropriating rap/hip-hop culture by making music belonging to that genre? Regardless of working with black musicians/producers. As a white person if I make a hip hop style or inspired beat all by myself and decide to rap over it in my bedroom because I really love rap and it’s my aspiration to become a rap or hip hop artist, does that mean I’m appropriating culture? Get a life. Also, people like Gwen Stefani have taken aspects of reggae and ska music and infused it into their own because of their love and appreciation for it. We can’t label a certain genre of music as only appropriate for people of certain skin colours to make or see it as only okay or acceptable if they make this music with black people. That’s actually a worse mentality to have if you ask me. Don’t restrict anyone’s creativity and let them be inspired by and pay tribute to what they want.

I mean, I get what @KillForLove is trying to say but I feel like their argument doesn't really connect with Kim Petras at all. Kim is strictly pop and she hasn't really stepped over the lines of cultural appropriating as far as I'm concerned. I'd throw some hell when she starts tanning her skin and throws on trap beats on her songs to make herself look and sound more urban, but in the meantime, let the girl make her fun bops so her fans can enjoy them.

She has 11 singles.. and a Halloween EP, not even a full album.. collabed with 3/4 people and worked with how many producers? Has POC in her heart to break music video, did a interview video thing with Lizzo... there’s plenty of time to, and I very much doubt she has any issue with collabing with black creatives. As for sounds she’s using/borrowing from, not entirely sure what you mean... she’s literally white girl dance pop or white girl pop ballad.

Not killforlove thinking kim is somehow culturally appropriating... and over a really generic bridge... appropriating sngnsngnf... girl you tried that in the GOFTY thread saying that PC music appropriate Queer POC/ball culture. give it a rest.

cultural appropriation is REALLY a thing and can't be ignored. i just don't get WHY y'all are discussing this on a Kim Petras thread lol

i mean, she's a pop singer and all of her work is stuck with this genre and image. it's not like she's making rap and selling her image as a urban/hip-hop artist while making fun of black culture like Miley Cyrus, for example, she's just getting some inspirations just like every other pop singer right now
