There was this guy who reacted to the album on yt and said he would much rather Charli have done an EP with Dylan being the main producer and tbh that’s a concept I’m really here for. Her PC—esque sound cant go much elsewhere I fear. AG is still a genius, but his stuff with charli is starting to sound less and less specific and more catered, yknow?

Charli got high metacritic scores cause she makes good interesting music. Marina got a low metacritic score for EH cause a lot of times critics used to give women who made good music low scores (see BTD for example), they fully missed the point of the album also. She got a low score for L+F cause the album just wasn't that interesting. Simple as that. I think it's a pretty good album for what it is and it has a few standout tracks that are on par with her earlier work but as a whole it isn't anything more than lighthearted pop that sounds like stuff you'd hear on the radio.

The problem with Love + Fear is not that the concept was poorly executed, it’s that the songs are bad. Like, Electra Heart, despite being visually stunning, still had a lot of flaws when it came to the concept: there is NO storyline aside from a song or two, the archetypes are very blurry, etc... but it’s a great record in that the songs are great and stand on their own, which makes all the flaws of the concept slide into the background cause they don’t need to carry the record, it carries itself.
 
Love + Fear songs are bad, and even the best ones are underwhelming. No amount of concept behind it could’ve made it good. Concepts in and of themselves very rarely work out. Unless you’re pulling some Rosalia shit and doing a full fledged concept album with a story, characters and an actual ending, it’s just a way to tie the songs together.
 
The Love/Fear thing was just a way to tie the songs together. Had they been good, we would’ve had no problem with the concept to begin with. But they’re bad, and we’re blaming the concept for it, even though it’s not particularly bad, just lazy IMO

I'm shocked nothing from FROOT has leaked! Only True Colours which was planned for a compilation, that's why it leaked and I'm Not Hungry Anymore which was being traded before the album release.

This is gross as hell. Hundreds of thousands getting infected worldwide, dozens of thousands dying, yet Lana needs to go outside with her cringy friends. I'm not worried about her, but how many millions of people without health insurance are in the EEUU that wont be able to face this? How many other will lose all because of the huge economic crisis that's coming?
 
Just hoping that the privileged ones -as her and her friends- will grow up at least a bit and stay at their mansions, even if that appears as problematic to them.

So crazy to hear Like China Dolls after it's been rumored for all these years.  Honestly didn't even think it was a real thing lol.

Wow, she really did that with the No More Suckers acoustic version.  It is miles better than the album version.  The tracks that she chose were really interesting choices. It really gives a whole new dimension to these songs.  And the BEAUTY that was served in the Superstar video like WOW.....
 
Also, about INHA, it's honestly just so shocking to me to see her even acknowledging this song.  I remember the Mickey Mouse phone snippet so vividly, like I could tell you where I was when she posted it.  It always really meant a lot to me and then when the song leaked I was ecstatic (literally one of her best.) I'm so happy to see her performing it on tour and seeing that the song still clearly means a lot to her. I'm super bummed that I had to sell my ticket and won't be at the show next week, the tour looks incredible.
 
I'm super excited to see what else she has in store, especially whatever the collaboration with all women is going to be.... she is feeding us well.

This & the thank you to Lana in her album booklet is kinda sad since Lana has posted about albums before and after Marina's release but said nothing about Love + Fear. Granted, Lana does post personal stuff about Marina periodically, but to not mention her first album in 4 years when they are supposedly so important to each other... pretty shady :/
 
Edit: so strange how I have liked Marina more as a person over the past few years, yet not liked her music as much, but have had the inverse experience with Lana. 
 
Regardless of how her instagram post may come off, I appreciate how openly she shows her vulnerable, flawed human side. She doesn't have all of the answers and I think she acknowledges that and is just trying to make sense of it all. Its so.. special? heartbreaking? to watch someone go through what she has and be so open to so many strangers about it. I feel like she is being genuine and heartfelt. I admire her, I really do. 

I don’t blame her. It IS depressing when every album cycle, “fans” literally always find something to complain about (this is not the same as casually disliking a song) or they leak things she’s worked hard on - I know that it’s impossible to avoid these kind of things in the internet age but that’s probably something she knows anyway. It still would be frustrating for a more sensitive kind of person. Especially when you can tell she’s passionate about all of her work.
 
It really is true though how people will always criticize something during its time & then go back years later to praise it. I don’t really understand why. But it’s easy to see.

Aaaah I really remember the same annoying mfs talking shit about FROOT back in 2015. CPMD is shit, Gold is shit, what a boring cover, she's so basic, ugly vocal filter, boring songs, bla bla bla. It's just so funny that FROOT is so praised nowadays. Can't take these L+F haters seriously tbh.

I mean the album JUST came out? So no, you can’t just immediately move on yet, lol. I dunno why y’all are so unsatisfied. End of the Earth was sending me today while I was walking around the park. This album is genuinely better than most of you are giving it credit for. No it’s not her best, but tbh it’s got more bops than FROOT at least!
