So I feel like we should compile a list of songs we are working towards getting. I have a lot of artist's unreleased stuff, but Allie is no joke the first one where I have become familiar with all the songs and really appreciate them all. Probably somewhere in this thread we listed songs some time ago but I swear this went from 15 to 40 pages in like two weeks lol. So anyone willing please help me out!

    Headmaster (Full)
    Prism
    Tumor (Demo)
T.M.O. (Snippet) [wtf even is this btw???]
    MASTERpeace
    Those two other Hughes albums?
    Roll the Dice
    Marry Me for a Night
    Party Over
    Tongue Tied
    Wreck It All (Live)
    Be My Baby (Live)
    Never Again
    Lie to Me
    Elevator

If she really wanted everyone to forget everything pre-Catch then there wouldn't even be old videos or articles of her performing live. She did an extremely good job of scrubbing a LOT from the Internet, but there's a reason why there's tiny slivers were left behind.

A recent interviewer even asked her about How Do You Solve a Problem and she was happy to talk about it, which to me displays that it's not something she'd like to forget. She had a lot going for her in Canada.

She wanted us to Xplore, and we are exploring the human behind the artifice

It's artistic identity, she wants to be egnigmatic as possible for her new pop persona. Allie X is not an equation and X does not equal Hughes for her. She's a vegan anomaly who makes synthpop, not someone who used to weigh more, wear frilly dresses and do musical theatre. She's not trying to be Maria now, she's doing her own thing and she's a fully realized artist. She wants everyone to forget Gorilla Sounds and everything up until Catch, her real debut. I think she deserves that kind of respect as an artist.

    This song is genius.
    I love it so much

It could be about the same guy she wrote National Anthem about, that guy had heaven in his eyes too

Personally, I don't think they sound alike at all. Her voice is a lot weaker, lighter, and younger sounding than Lana's. Although, if she really fools the rest of you that much, someone should give her some fake Roses lyrics to sing too and see how many people will buy it. x

It's just you. Lana only has one vocal twin.

there's lots of different reasons for not leaking songs, i know on the outside it seems very simple but it's actually really not. you might have been given the songs by a friend, so you're not leaking them out of friendship. it might have a trader's beats in (ie. LODV2), so you might be waiting to get the "real" version. you might hold on to it in order to trade for some more tracks. there's lots of reasons for not leaking, it's not as simple as just a superiority complex (although i think that if you proclaim to have them + leak snippets but not the track, then you're a dick)

Out of respect for Lana, I am taking this down.

I think it's a sign on how good the album is when everyone has to argue which songs are they think are the worst/ best.

She's my #1 hope for great pop music in 2013. Everything she's teased us with so far has been truly amazing, and I'll be so sad if her full-length fails to deliver. (But there's virtually no chance of that happening, right?)

Earlier this year, I bought tickets to Coldplay just to see her and Marina open. ^_^

  19. demiannn liked a post in a topic by Honeymooner in Lana's vocal quality and vibrato
    Hey everyone,

I'm curious to see what some of my fellow musicians (instrumental or vocal, doesn't matter) have to say on this topic.

I've heard it said that Lana's voice has gotten stronger since Born To Die came out.  I think Ultraviolence is certainly proof of that.  But one thing I've also noticed is that her vibrato has improved dramatically.

In the beginning, it seemed like it was sometimes shaky and unsteady, and was always kind of fast and fluttery.  The songs on Born To Die had that quality.  Paradise was a small improvement.  You can really only tell when she holds sustained notes.  "American" is a good example.  Take the chorus: "You make me crazy / You make me wiiiii-iiiild..."  On that last held note, you can hear her vibrato, and while it's better than it had been in the past, it's still a bit fast for my taste.  Fast forward to "Young and Beautiful" -- again, a marginal improvement, but still fluttery.  Fast forward again to "Once Upon a Dream," and there's still more improvement.

But, where I noticed the most dramatic change was in the bonus track "Is This Happiness" on Ultraviolence.  When she holds "Is this happineeessssssss". you can really hear a change.  Her vibrato is slower and wider than even on other UV songs.  To me, this is the most beautiful her voice has ever sounded.  I wonder if she had any sort of vocal coaching, or if she just changed on her own, or...?  "Is This Happiness" is definitely my favorite UV track.

    Look forward to discussion

I'm going to let you all enjoy this as the innocent teenage love song it appears to be for about a day before I completely ruin it with some Lanalysis.

Let's all agree we'll take anything, no matter if it's Brooklyn Baby, Sad Girl, Guns And Roses or This Is What Makes Us Girls as long as it's neither a lyrics nor a remix video.
