she’s too visually intelligent to do this kind of cover off the cuff. it had to have been done like this intentionally; down to earth, and glaringly unpretentious, possibly to match that new midwest sound she’s going for or whatever. i mean honestly this looks like a cover for any run of the mill coffee shop singer in the early 2000’s but maybe that’s exactly what she was going for. doesn’t mean it isn’t ugly as fuck, i’d just like to think there was some thought behind it ?

anyone notice how at 1:39 she sings "need you to come", but in the background you can hear her say "want"

Just listened to it a few times and I don't like it that much, it sounds exactly like it should be on NFR and I think it would have suited being on there fine but I don't really get the song, lyrically it doesn't really say anything she never said before even on NFR, it's like a song that was meant for NFR but said pretty much the same stuff as Venice Bitch in lyrics and sounded like a mix of half the NFR album so they just left it out?

She did two duets in Denver - 'Don't Know How to Keep Loving You' with Julia Jacklin and 'I Will Follow You into the Dark' with Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie.
Both were absolutely incredible, but the Julia Jacklin duet is definitely a top highlight from all the duets she did for the NFR tour -

Wow!! I sorta fell off the Melanie train a few years ago, but I always still wanted this song because I knew it would be one of her best and I was riiiiight!! Officially declaring this her second best song - the melody & sonic vibe went off! This was the Life is Beautiful for Melanie stans and we waited 5 years for both and got them both this year.. maybe 2020 made a few points x
