Why do I love the random snippets of the guy’s voice in Not All Who Wander Are Lost so much?

Her revenge will be everyone expecting one album on June 1st and we will receive in a typewriter letter:

You thought that I was rich and I am. So rich that I'm disappearing and no one will hear from me. EVER. Fuck you all.
                                 XOXO

Haven't posted my opinion on the album yet cus i wanted to adjust but here's my ranking:

    1. Chemtrails Over The Country Club
    2. White Dress
    3. Not All Who Wander Are Lost
    4. Yosemite
    5. Tulsa Jesus Freak
    6. Dance Till We Die
    7. Wild At Heart
    8. Let Me Love You Like A Woman
    9. Dark But Just A Game
    10. For Free (ugly/stupid)
    11. Breaking Up Slowly (ugly/stupid)

The album is definitely her worst in my opinion, the only songs i find interesting that hold a true replay value for me are my top 3 from the list, everything else i only play because it's there. It's definitely not a bad album it's just a very boring album. It doesn't have a strong concept (if any?) and nothing about it stands out in her discography. One thing i will say that i love though are her vocals and the layering on this album, it's very pretty. But that's all it is really, just pretty.

Hoping she finds the fire again for Rock Candy Sweet

Well even with me not connecting with COTCC, I finally tried listening to JB’s new album and based off the first few songs, it sounds absolutely juvenile and makes COTCC sound like the best thing ever created.

OMG!!! I feel the same thing. It's been really hard for me to conect with Chemtrails... I thought I was the only one, but by now I feel like a lot of fans lie about how they like Chemtrails, when the lyrics are so simple and no meaning at all hahaha

I definitely think 81 is a better score. NFR is significantly better to me. To me, NFR is absolutely no skips and pretty much a perfect album. Venice Bitch, Happiness is a Butterfly, and Bartender each, on their own, blow away anything on Chemtrails except maybe Tulsa Jesus Freak and Breaking Up Slowly for me.

Even though I enjoy the melodies and harmonies, Not All Who Wander Are Lost is the most uninspired I've seen Lana in her lyrics. I also enjoy Wild at Heart, but the fact that she basically reused the production of How to Disappear also ruined it a bit for me.

Even though Chemtrails has grown on me, I'm having a really hard time connecting with it - which is a problem I've never had with any Lana album. Even Sirens, I connect more with, so it's not even like I can theorize that it might just be the stripped down production not doing it for me. I recognize objectively that COTCC is good, mature, and more refined then a good amount of her past work, but something about it just isn't clicking.

Lana's music has always felt custom made for me, but COTCC felt like when I listened to folklore and I was like "I can see why people like this, and I might like a bit of it, but this just isn't really my thing. Objectively, it's good, but it's not for me." I've NEVER felt that way about Lana's albums and it's lowkey driving me a bit mad that I feel this way about Chemtrails.

I really felt that part where you said that you're struggling with connecting with the album cus that's exactly what happens to me.

I love how it's placed after Chemtrails & WD and just before LMLYLAW. Chemtrails is like the reverse of WD : the Country club as the privileged setting she lives in, trying to find happiness and comfort despite it being out of hand there (the seemingly upsetting and impossible relationship with the man in the song, the ominous chemtrails over the superficial and careless inhabitants of the club) ; and then just like in WD she goes back into the past, to a completly opposed setting (a humble flat in Tulsa), to a man she actually was happy with, who actually lived his faith in a very intimate and lively fashion, harkening back to what was gone but real (like in WD). The first songs are the incipit ; in LMLYLAW she makes the final decision of leaving, traveling back to the hinterland... Like that's actually a very smart and thought out concept. Tulsa is such a simple but nice track and the white hots are exhilarating, i wish she'd gone a bit more out there with them.

I think it's the eternal life Jesus's talking about. Also it seems like a description of 'light' for me.

Favourite, favourite off this album. Along with Yosemite and Breaking Up Slowly. I'm in tears  she really did THAT.
And the Autotune splash in Tulsa Jesus Freak is delicious

Arkansas/Our Kansas is iconic to me LOL. I love little flourishes like that that give off small town Lizzy Grant vibes with a wink.

I know what you mean. I like Chemtrails, but it's not my favorite album, and I don't think it's her best.
It's the tracks that ARE amazing that stand out tho. Do they make up for it? No, because in my opinion there's not enough.
I'm not sure where I'd rate Chemtrails with her other albums rn, but it's okay not to LOVE it, don't feel bad!!!
Honeymoon is still my fav album and always will be and it's from 2015.
NFR is second though, I agree with the no skips part I just also feel that way about Honeymoon.
Honeymoon and NFR both hit home HARD for me :(((( I can't explain, but they're the only two albums that make me feel some type of way.
    Still love her others obviously.

I don't know if any of you have checked Metacritic but the chemtrails score is now lower (81) previously it was at 85 almost the same score as Norman (87).
I personally think that 80/81 is a fair score for the album, when I saw that chemtrails had two points less than Norman's score it seemed strange to me because that means that it is almost as good as Norman and in my humble opinion it is not. NORMAN's lyrics and production is simply superior.
I like chemtrails but I just don't think it's on Norman's level or close to him; in the same way I will continue listening to see if my opinion changes.
    What do you think?

Okay so I did not like cocc at all. After indoctrinating myself with it, it's enjoyable for me now. I still do not like it as much as her previous work, but sitting down with a nice pair of headphones, a drink and listening to the emotion she has put in, its quite enjoyable!
