Cherry is a highlight for sure. (i always mentally picture Lana spilling grape juice on herself during the "fuck" part lmao). 13 Beaches is so beautifully produced!! Heroin feels like a masterpiece and Get Free is serving 1950s prom song vibes tbh

"It’s been a long time coming! Fans waited three years between Lana’s last album Ultraviolence and her song “Lust For Life” which dropped April 19."

did she really just ignore Honeymoon

Get Free is her best album closer ever. She couldn't have chosen a better song to close the album with

the second I heard Lizzy shine through I knew.. we all say every song is her magnum opus based off her and our favorites; but that song is everything.

it referenced her older songs (and two specific ones mentioned further in the post),

it gave truth of a transformation- going from black to blue, albeit it's not all the way there; it's still change and progress (beats 1 radio interview & the recent one from yesterday and the previous song Change REALLY give insight to this song. Like she was telling us before it showed itself)

it showed Lizzy Grant high vocals while being VERY shangri-la and 60s sounding, and the fact it was the closing track really felt like she tried to encompass her beginnings with her studio album career while also showing the beginning sound of the album itself; it's a musical double entendre

It truly stands in the hall with Ride and Video Games. In terms of Lana's most tried and true and iconic songs Video Games, Ride, and Get Free are genuinely her magnum opus' and we all need to understand that

Lust for Life is definitely an achievement. There isn't one song I don't like and it flows so wonderfully. I wasn't IN LOVE with any singles that were released but in context with the rest of the album it definitely elevates them. Will be my soundtrack for awhile. Let's see if it tops Ultraviolence for me.

    13 Beaches
    Cherry
    White Mustang
    Tomorrow Never Came
    Heroin
    Get Free

    Probably my favorites.

Apparently, in the booklet it says "Ah, he's in the sky with diamonds," which pisses me off because that's lame. It sounds like she's saying Harvey to me, and that's how I'll continue to sing it.

    Mermaid Motel is so amazing

I see Lana/Lizzy/Elizabeth (whoever she is) as a story writer using her life. I honestly see her more as the quiet, weird, quirky girl who kept to herself and kinda lived in her own fantasy world growing up. I think she grew interested in the themes we see during the Lizzy Grant period (crazy, wild, Lolita, white trash, etc.) and she created a persona out of that and tried to do her best to live that out of pure interest in those themes. Then, when that wasn't gaining enough popularity and after pressure from her label, she had to try to reinvent herself again, which led to the creation of the Lana that was formed in Born to Die. Some of the themes from the Lizzy era continued or evolved, but instead of being the wild, quirky, white trash Lolita, she became the dark, dramatic, desperate, high-class, vintage depressed girl in Born to Die. The LDR persona has evolved since then (less Lolita references, less high-class, less depressing), and now she seems to be bouncing around between jazz, rock, vintage, and hip hop-inspired, while dark, dramatic, and vintage remain the recurring themes. Since LDR was the persona she got famous for, she's stuck with it. Who knows how much of that persona is her true personality, but she herself has admitted to writing about things she never experienced and admitted BTD Lana was a persona if i recall correctly.

I found that David Kahne's studio where the album was recorded is called SeeSquared Studios. This definitely isn't new information as somebody uploaded a photo of Lana and David to the studios Discogs page, https://www.discogs.com/label/269045-SeeSquared-Studios,  butI hadn't ever known this until I trawled through google while searching about David's work with Paul McCartney. Also found all of these photos in the studio at the same place as Lana's portraits with David which is cool.

Okay I found the girl and she said

“I feel like I’m annoying locals with so many response tweets but she did sign it! And I said “I’m not sure how you feel about that one so u don’t have to sign it” and she said “I don’t know how I feel either but you’re the one person I’ll sign it for so let’s do it” and that I’m the only person who has it signed haha”

I can’t believe someone asked her to sign it. It’s a bootleg copy she’s never getting paid or recognition off it. I mean I guess she did try to wipe it from the internet. Idk I would feel so weird asking her to sign it.
