HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LANA DEL RAY!
Seven years ago today, Lana's official debut album was released.
May it continue to "raise us up".
(I'm a little late, lol. Also, credit to adoringlana on tumblr for these beautiful gifs!)

I believe that's the implication-- there's still an existing version! Which doesn't surprise me, with all the unleaked Kahne tracks: Lemonade Motorcycle Heaven, Ben, Bounce, Coconut and Keylime Pie, etc. I bet a lot of the tracks have similar sounds to AKA, which is so exciting!

you ought to know good and well that symbols like these mean a lot to lana. to assume that yayo is just a song about "drugs, motorcycles, and putting on shows for men" is to simplify things too much. it's a song, at least it seems to me, about escaping from the darkness in her life, really feeling happiness for once, and being with someone she loves very much-- i think it's so melancholy, though, because she doesn't believe she'll really get that

Here's a fun question:
Had AKA been successful, what unreleased tracks do you think would've been used for a follow-up album?

I really love Mertens' work that we've heard. His style is actually a great match with LDR. I'm dying to know if he produced versions of Kill Kill and Smarty, and if any other tracks almost made the album. The Brite Lites demo is very intriguing. :deadbanana:

While Lana Del Ray (commonly known as AKA) wasn’t Lana’s first studio album -- that honor goes to Sirens -- it was her debut on a record label, and her first album to be sold commercially. AKA’s history was turbulent, which probably owes to much of the mystery and misinformation that surrounds the album today:
As noted above, the formation of AKA brought about many demos and outtakes that didn’t make the final cut, including Lizzy’s collaborations with producer Steven Mertens. Below is a helpful guide to the AKA demos, along with information on unused tracks recorded with both Mertens and David Kahne:
Lana’s promotion of her music during the AKA era included interviews, frequent live performances, and perhaps most distinctively, the creation of self-assembled music videos for most of the tracks on the album, much like the “Video Games” visuals that would propel her to stardom in 2011. Below are a selection of these videos, plus relevant fan creations:
Lastly, here are some helpful links for further info and exploration of AKA:

I can’t wait for the hazy western ocean breeze trap beats to kick in for the chorus. Ugh jack is going to eat the original alive

Stan Twitter has discovered that the sunglasses in actor guy's story are, in fact, her Gucci ones.
I'm just dying reading all the in-depth analyses/comparisons of the tortoiseshell pattern. I bet neither of them thought people would figure it out. LMAO.

I’d ask Universal Music Poland because I was in a constant contant with them in 2016/17, but I’m pretty sure I’m in a beef with them at this point but TBH their info was a mess anyway (Coachella not being on LFL, LFL cover change etc). Biggest polish radio was also a first source to post about March 29 and we still don’t know if it was even a 1% legit info so I don’t think I’ll ever trust polish sources again, even if it’s UMG
My friends’ mom is working @ empik so i’ll ask him tho

Mm. Ok got that. Someone else mentioned Russian before. We found out about Coachella last cycle thru an Arab streaming site. Does anyone have those sites from before? I can make it a part of the title post for peeps to look at, to keep an eye out for

It's how we first found the UV and LFL track lists. Random Polish websites.

Yeah, this line made me think of "the little death" too. I think this lyric is intentional double entendre for, um, manual stimulation. Or in the parlance of this forum, he slayed her pussy.
"Soft ice cream" may be innuendo as well.
Fun fact: Lizzy's 2008 Mercury Lounge performance was as an opener for Moby's side project The Little Death, and is the basis for her claim to have shared the stage with Moby. The drummer for The Little Death was also her drummer in Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena.

I love how she thirsts over the guy for the whole song and then decides that he can wait, because she wants to eat some ice cream first.
