If she doesn't release a cover/tracklist with pre-oder or a new song in what's left of this summer, we truly lost her. The real Lana would have never betrayed her favourite season like that. She was a summer girl through and through, but in LA it's all the same for her now, apparently. I will not be surprised if she thinks that there's only been a few days (a week max) since her birthday. She deleted the calendar app from her iPhones

y'all the reason people are talking about her retiring is because SHE HERSELF sure seems to want to. it's not because we don't want her music, it's because of...well honestly i don't even need to get into it because there are literally dozens of extremely well written posts laying it out and if you didn't get the message those times you're just being deliberately dense

ok "she loves her album." that's great. but this was also back in december and it doesn't explain why she hasn't released it and has deleted or ignored questions about it when she's fully able to release it and those are the questions she's getting asked, many of them politely and with a lot of enthusiasm. she also stopped talking about it for an extended amount of time and the first single was released almost a year ago. i wouldn't be here if i didn't love lana's music but this era promotionally is a vague goddamn mess and i say that as someone who loves clunky music videos and stripped down sound without a particularly huge budget spent

i took y'all's advice and went outside. i just kept walking with the endless summer sun beating on the back of my neck.  sometimes i swear i could hear the sound of piano chords being hit in the distance... a faint melody... the smell of PBR and sweat.  it seemed the day lasted for years before the sun began to set.  as i was passing under a bridge, a group of bums were gathered by a small trash can fire.  they were burning copies of Vogue Italia June 2019 for warmth even though it was sweltering.  i was sweating so profusely that i became delirious........ a screeching sound... a car pulls up as my eyes begin to flutter closed. a- a. white.. mustang.

next thing i knew, i was strapped in front of a computer with internet access but all websites were blacklisted except for Lanaboards. I'm here again.  the album still isn't out.  my eyes are held open with those shitty coke spoon necklaces Lana used to sell as merch. i'm praying they break from poor quality soon so i can blink and shut out this horrible computer screen.  idk who my captors are because they always wear masks when they come in to force feed me white bread and matcha, but one of them has long blond hair and these weird fitting jeans that are ripped in the front.  i swear she may have had bunny ears also, idk, maybe that was part of the mask.

i tried to go outside.  this is my story.  you dont wanna be like me, you dont wanna see all the things i've seen .... im dying............ dying

but.... where is the music. key point here

this is so well written. you always have the best replies. i definitely don't think this is her personality though. she just looks so lifeless and it gives me second-hand depression looking at her ig posts. she is drinking all these teas and laughing with her best baddies and it looks so fake and it hurts because it feels like she isn't happy. i obviously cant know but thats how i feel when i see it. and sadly i dont think its going away. i dont know whats gonna happen to her.

you too, you always write great stuff and this is just absolutely what has been on my mind for months, since lfl. i want her to have a good ending so much but with lust for life and now this, its gonna take something groundbreakingly amazing and im too tired to see another album through

ugh im just feeling so heartbroken

aside from anything else...... this is all just so boring. like, as i've said before if she'd shunned public life and that was in part why she wasn't releasing the album then at least there'd be some mystery but she's pretty active on social media and even most of that content is self indulgent and dull as fuck

It doesn’t let me quote LanaFlowers but good sis you are so on point. This is the shit I was talking about at the beginning of this era but even with L4L I already had the feeling she wasn’t the Lana we knew anymore. She doesn’t care because she isn’t trying to make it anymore. Very sad, disappointing & honestly quite heartbreaking for those of us who have loved her for so long. I’m not mad about her changing, I accept it although it’s sad but what’s upsetting is the way she’s treating the people who literally make it possible with our love & support for her to continue making her art. I’m over it at this point because it’s been a while now & I’ve gotten used to this new person she is or, maybe, this was her all along & she’s just now showing it. With an era like this, what more can we expect for the future? Remind yourself it’s not about the wait or wanting to take a break, it’s about the kind of treatment she’s giving us, I’m sorry but the teasing is becoming mockery at this point. She could’ve been happily living her life without dangling new snippets at our noses in a “oop just kidding” manner. Just sad is all. And I don’t want to hear she doesn’t owe us anything just shut up u little slimy worms let me and my gurls n gays be sad. This too shall pass

I understand wanting to give up. There's not even anything wrong with that. She's allowed to want to do something different in life. She's not our slave, and she doesn't have to put out an album every year till the day she dies. But she [CONTENT WARNING] owes us some goddamn honesty. Say it was good while it lasted, and now it's time to move on. It's not hard to tweet "Sorry guys, I'm sick of fame, I'm tired of touring & coming home only to be forced into a studio to record another album. I might release new music again sometime in the future, but I plan on spending the next few years focusing on my personal life & my mental health. Hope you understand." She can give her phone to a barista at Cha Cha Matcha and ask her to type the words for her if it's too much work. But obviously, it's more profitable to lead us on while doing the bare minimum.

been reading some of the posts over the last few pages and it's funny cos i remember when she was promoting BTD she said she "may not bother making another album" after that in an interview (or words to that effect), which in hindsight was incredibly premature for someone who cared so much. then she released ultraviolence and honeymoon and said she released those albums "because she had things to get out of her system and needed to make them" (or words to that effect) and... yeah after LFL and her reluctance to release NFR i kinda feel like she's running out of things to say and it simply doesn't matter to her anymore

i'll be shocked if she's still making music in 10 or even 5 years. she just does not seem into it, she's lost that sparkle to me

My BIGGEST pet peeve w all of this is her acting like she’s too cool for this album, too cool for us, too cool for her career. Hon give it a rest already there are absolutely no redeeming qualities in being apathetic

Ok this album really does have my favourite songs, Contaminated. And also The Fall and Stroke.

These are really my exact opinions except I think Sawzall needs to grow on me too

i actually did notice this as well. i think it might be the reason why i didn’t really care for what about love. i didn’t mind the “vibe” in the other two tracks though. the hawaiian mazes instrumental sounds like mariah carey mixed in with kanye’s flashing lights and sawzall was very matt corby (whom i adore) so i can’t be too mad at them.

The ones that have blown me away are Till Now, Contaminated, Stroke, The Fall, Gimme and IWWMOW for the production (obviously I do like those hard hitting songs). Can't say my definite favourite yet but Contaminated does seem to be the strongest contestant.

That's what I thought with The Altar at first cause I only liked 3 songs but they all sure as hell grew on me. don't think I can place this album yet.

    Don't know if anyone else
knows what I'm talking about but in a few places there's that really generic "chill wave/lounge" piano sound, like in What About Love, Hawaiian Mazes and Sawzall and I'm just not buying it. If that piano type was in Godess I could have rolled with it cause those sounds weren't as common back then but these days I'm just sick of hearing that noise

overall i’d say it was a massively strong and enjoyable effort. i was afraid she was gonna be one of 2019’s very disappointing comebacks but if anything, she just showed all the girls what they wish they would’ve done.
i’m glad this is getting some love from critics and fans alike (so far), considering how quirky and different of a direction it is for her.
a quite cinematic experience and i loved basking in every minute of it. muffy sis the dramatics!
it’s also so unapologetically in your face—the project doesn’t tirelessly beg for your attention, it simply demands it.

the only problem i did have with some of the songs: i couldn’t understand what the hell she was singing for the life of me. giving this a second listen later tonight (with the assistance of lyrics this time) because i do feel there is a lot to look out for in the production that i missed.
