"West Coast" music video nominated for VMA
Thunder Revenant replied to lanasgirl's topic in Awards & Nominations
Well, WC is ... atmospheric. But that's it. Not that Beyonce's videos would be very special or anything .... The Blue Jeans video by Woodkid was also "just" atmospheric, however it had much more interesting shoots and scenes, even if it was just Lana swimming in a pool with some crocodiles and a tatooed guy. West Coast has some nice shots and it fits the music, but .. yeah, could have definitly been better and more diverse But if i had to judge about "good musicvideos", I would rather chose things in the style of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Sacrilege" ... It's really like some sort of short movie with some interesting cutting-technique. Without taking the focus away from the song, or featuring thousands of "music-less" scenes or monologues .... So I wouldn't say "Music world is not prepared for Lana's WEST COAST" video, since even if you are a huge fan of it, you can't deny it's not very spectacular or original. Shades Of Cool would have told a story without being super-straightforward and it's very cinematic. Shame they didn't nominated this one .... -

I like the song and the video has grown on me but ... don't think she stands a chance with that one. They should have taken SoC ^^ -
I guess from that point of view, every bonustrack would have fit better ^^

So funny to hear that she remade a "melancholia" song into UV, because she wanted to call the album like that And the way she really admits she herself considers Sad Girl as a filler ... priceless And she still tries to circumvent explaining about what FMWUTTT is about

Well, the german RS interwiev was very positive ^^ -
Nice snippet, but I guess there will be some kind of .. beat drop or tempo change after this. Not because i don't like her quiet songs but .. well, kind of would fit the snippet ^^

Seems like it's ome of this interwievs where they just WANTED her to say stupid things, and asked provocing questions until they got their headlines like "I don't want them to hear it" ... And yeah, I guess "Sad Girl" just offers the lyrics the press wanted in order to describe her ... -
I'd have no problem if she released something like this. If the songs would be in good quality qand maybe redone ... Of course new songs are great, but this song-greedy "mimimi I want new ones if there will be but one song she remakes I will hate the record" people annoy the sh*t out of me ... Some of the unreleased/leaked songs are sooo good. I'd really love to hear them in full-studio-quality and see her selling them. Apart from this, some of the unreleased songs really have a "unique" feeling, very different from the officially-released stuff.

Official 2nd Single - Ultraviolence (Release August 18th)

Depends in how it's done ... I mean, they could cut some instrumental parts and maybe the "my boyfriend's really cool .." part would be cut out, so the song would end after the last chorus. -
Official 2nd Single - Ultraviolence (Release August 18th)
Thunder Revenant replied to naachoboy's topic in New Releases
Brooklyn Baby is too long for radio stations I guess and Old Money is too calm. UV is a nice choice and a good song, but i guess it might "do" as much as the "Born To Die" single, just without being as iconic ... But let's remember UV was @ °1 of the Itunes charts when the song was released, wasn't it? Would have prefered Money Power Glory, its just such a radio friendly but still very good song. -
Which Lana Del Rey Song/Music Video Are You?
Thunder Revenant replied to Macintosh Manhattan's topic in Games
Born To Die - You're a matter-of-fact kind of person, smart and you keep a low profile most of the time. When you let someone get close to you, however, you'll share your deepest darkest secrets and show an intimate involvement. You think a lot and it sometimes causes you to get depressed. You're extremely romantic and you find beauty in every tragedy, even when it breaks your heart at first. Don't forget to come out of your own world sometimes, others would really appreciate your calm yet dreamy personality! -
What Disney song would you WANT Lana to cover?

The Other Woman is SO Snow White-like ... I always thought about the well-scene, I'm not sure how the song's called. -

Hm, I guess i have to "divide" this into the different "classes" of songs we have from her. Leaked Unreleased Stuff: I guess my favourites here are Heavy Hitter, You Can Be The Boss, Kinda Out Of Luck, Hundred Dollar Bill and She's Not Me. That are quite a lot, but there are, infact, a lot of unreleased songs. I like many of them (I also don't like many of them) but these ones are my favs, as they were also some of the first Lana songs i heard (when VG hit the radio, I started to stan her and digged up the AKA album as well as the LolitaDemo and the unreleased songs above, so they kind of are my nostalgic favs). I really whish she would record an album/EP with some songs in the style of Heavy Hitter and YCBTB. May Jailer - Sirens: I frankly don't like this album alot, there are some nice lyrics on it, like My Momma or Next To Me, but the only song I really like and listen to casually is "A Star For Nick". I love the lyrics, the concept of the track and the way she sings/plays the guitar. Lizzy Grant AKA Lana Del Ray Tough one, like I already mentioned I listened to this album even before BtD (I'm a broooklyn hiiiiipsteeer! ) and I like the whole album alot. My all-time-favs are Gramma (it kind of makes me sad and happy at the same time, the lyrics, the instrumental, the overal mood ...) and Mermaid motel (I like how it's so unique and unusual for her in it's style. I like the feeling and .. everything about it). Born To Die Hard one here, like with AKA I'm gonna have to chose two, and I also can't say that there is one song on this record iI don't like (Radio and Lucky Ones aren't my alll-time favourites, but i still would prefer them over alot of what is played on the radio). Blue Jeans, it's just such a perfect song - the guitar, the concept the chorus, her voice. everything. And National Anthem, this one was a grower but in the end it landed on my top 5. I like the strings, the fireworks, the lyrics, the instrumental in general and this kind-of different way she sings along to the hip-hop beat. Paradise My favourite "album" so far. I like every song on it, so I'm only gonna pick one fav here, because it stands out the most (and I love all the others too <3). It's Cola. the instrumental, this heavy-string intro, the way she sings (especially the deep notes with the vinyl-feeling during the verse) - and I also like the lyrics. I like this slightly provocating Cola thing, it's funny without ridiculing the song. I like the sugardaddy-topic (especially the "I knwo your wife and she wouldn't mind" part). And I began to drink Pepsi since that song's out, even though I don't really like it, too sweet for my taste, even for a softdrink. Ultraviolence Hard to say, because it's not out for so long. Preferences change, some song which I loved at the first listen are now not that-fav anymore becaus eI just listened too much to them and so on. Got to name 3 here: Pretty When I Cry, it's such a beautiful song, but I just have to stop listening to it for a while to feel it#s atmosphere again. After 300001425 listens, it just isn't that strong anymore xD Brooklyn Baby, it's a wonderful song. Nuff said. And - unexpected - West Coast. it was a huge grower and I didn't liked the rob orton Mix at first. the I loved the Germand Radio Mix. Then the RO Mix started to grew on me, but i didn't liked the album version and so on ... but now, I love all versions of it and even though it's the first single, I'm not tired of listening to it. I love the feeling and atmosphere, i love the verses, the chorus ... everything. I listen to it in the car, while getting ready for a party and when I sunbath with friends. Wouldn't have expected this in the first place, but now it's like that and that's the way it is ...

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Thunder Revenant replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
I only know about Bobby Womack's death, not sure if it was the day before or the day she performed. But theay recorded a song together and seemed to get along. Does anyone know the font she used in the Body Electric backdrop during the Paradise tour for the words "psalm 51" and "my love" (don't know if i remember this one right)? -

Thunder Revenant replied to FormerLanaFan's topic in Shows
Yeah, I realy like that. Maybe HW will be on an EP or it will be some kind of live song during the UV tour which will never be on any album. I remember her playing You Can Be The Boss in some of her first post-BtD shows too ... -
Lolita: "Look at what i've got, not a second thought of romeo" Still sounds better to me than the actual lyrics xD Diet Mountain Dew: instead of "There in this white pontiac heaven" I heard"chases feel to me like heaven" ... Cola: "Hollywood, he's doing party with his pretty baby" Gods & Monsters "Monitor, squeeze squeeze" .. Now that I know the lyrics I can hear the "sprees" but I still hear "Monitor" ... Bel Air Brigde: "I don't have roses, I can't exhaust, I know the way" instead of this "idol of roses, iconic soul, I know your name"
