Father John misty said at his concert yesterday, that Lana told him the guy she wrote Norman about was really 5,8 and not 6ft as she says in the song. Is this new information? Because I’m pretty sure we didn’t know with a 100% certainty who the song is about…

I may never stop talking about the different track mixes in UV, but I've been listening to the West Coast mixes in more depth lately and am still finding extra hidden things!
In the Early mix, there's a background guitar riff missing (either missing or just so quiet I can't pick it out) from the bridges that I can pick up in the Album and Rob Orton mixes.
Even in the Radio mix/demo, there's so much background complexity to the production. I can't believe I used to think of that track as "acoustic" and "basic". It's a masterpiece and I wish we got a a better mastered version.

today i was listening to Ultraviolence, and i have to say it has to be the most unique album lyrically and musically wise, it also brings back memories, oh the memories.
Life when i first listened to UV, wasn't good, and i was in the midst of a bad breakup. Needless to say i was listening to UV ALOT to the point where my spotify wrapped placed me in the top .1% of all lana del rey listeners.
It's so hard to pick my favorite, as they are so good. But if i had to choose, Black Beauty would be my pick, with The Other Woman and Is this happiness? as a very close second.
If i had known that ITH, was actually on the album i would've listened to it alot more.
But anyways i'm glad that the next album had a much brighter and livelier vibe than this album which felt very melancholy and you could feel the sadness ooze out from every word.

Ngl reading this made me really happy somehow I feel a similiar way about it as you do. When I became a Lana fan it was one of my favourite songs ever , I was obsessed with the Carcassonne live performance & still MPG is one of my faves from UV & it means alot to me, every time I hear it , it reminds of the old times & why I fell in love with her music
And what a beautiful story of how you got into Lana

I mean
and it is the 49th most streamed album (male-female-group singer altogether) of all-time on Spotify , surpassing Eminem.

Honest question - when did Radio became so popular?

she didn't have to impact a whole generation and basically start her own genre like that but she did

Angel Olsen
A cover of "Shut up kiss me" for example.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't understand why, as they live in LA and work with the same people (Drew Erickson for example), they haven't met or just talk to each other yet.

This was an amazing read. Now "Bird World" title makes a lot of sense. Do we know his height because Father John Misty recently said that she told him the guy in NFR is actually 5'8'' and previously said he knows who the song is about but can't say it (Jonathan Wilson produced several FJM albums). The reworked version of The Next Best American Record has the lyrics "Topanga's hot tonight". I wonder if it also points to him as he has a production studio in Topanga right now.

The police taking him away kinda reminded me of blue jeans
„Just want it like before, we were dancing all night
Then they took you away, stole you out of my life“
She didn’t know what he did all she saw is the police taking him away without an explanation wich could be interpreted as stealing.
lemmeknow what u think abt this idea

Life doesn't always work out like you planned it
They say make lemonade outta lemons
But I tried and I just can't understand it
All this tryin' for no good reason
Man makes plans and God laughs
Why do I even bother to ask?
Well, once, you and I
We were the king and queen of this town
It doesn't matter now, the sun's settin' on our love
Bye, baby
Starry Eyed will always be one of my favorites…

This song is pure genius. Everytime I read about it I get more and more impressed, not a coincidence it’s my favorite lana song. Once I read that she uses lower voice to talk with third parties about her relationship and with the higher voice to talk with the man she’s with. It makes a lot of sense and it’s amazing
