Us: *criticizes her for willingly working with an abuser*
    You: “omg the transphobia!!1!”

just because she’s trans doesn’t mean she’s immune to criticism. in fact, i think we all love she’s becoming a successful trans pop icon, but we want her to not willingly work with people who rape others, and we also don’t want her explicitly saying she doesn’t support SA victims

Stop using this "cancel culture doesn't work" bs. Nobody sane in this thread expects every person on the planet to stop streaming her music, we are calling her out on her bullshit. Also, this is us talking on Lanaboards which is a very small website compared to other social media. I don't think we're bringing that much attention to the situation to people who don't already know about it. And would you rather us say...nothing? Also, outrage does work and can make change. If we let it slide that she works with Dr. Luke, more artists will be comfortable working with him and start giving him a platform to hurt more women. Even if it does give her more attention in the short run, in the grand scheme people will just remember her as a rape apologist who chose money over morals, it's not like her getting attention for working with a rapist is giving her a core fanbase  Sure, she can continue her career all she wants but that by no means says it will be as successful as it could be if she wasn't known for being problematic. Building a career on controversies doesn't work well in the pop music industry especially as a female, maybe YouTube and TikTok would be a better place for her if that's what she's into. Idc if you stream her music illegally, but don't get mad at us for discussing and criticizing her decision to support rapists publicly.

she really didnt perform primadonna, a staple of her discography  was this the song she was hinting at retiring from live shows?

also, NNT stage setup remains superior. i truly believe that was her strongest era artistically, its unfortunate the tour itself was really hard for her.

The point is she no longer wants to be an *artist*. She gave up on it at the time everyone, like the British public and critics as well, put shit on Electra Heart, her biggest and most challenging project yet. At the time she started up, she was broke, lonely, depressed, without friends and with familly issues. This all has changed. She is now a millionaire, she has friends, she is happy, what could she write about? She's not the same type of person as Lana is, perhaps because Lana always looks for other men who inspire her (and often mistreat her too, probably). Marina tried to redeem herself with FROOT and critics did enjoy the album. And this was supposed to be the final record. I don't know honestly if her hiatus decision was made just before the tour ended or it was planned all along. We know the tour was exhausting and she had to perform despite her father's poor health et cetera. The breakthrough that was abandoning the Diamonds was letting her go of the persona she had in order to have a more casual, relaxed relationship with her profession -- yes, more of a profession instead of art. This is a little bit sad from our viewpoint because we're probably not getting anything daring from her catalogue anymore except for silly-written woke-feminist-anthems that could've been easily written on Twitter but whatever. Sex Yeah or Teen Idle lyrics touch hearts because they are spoken from her own viewpoint, these were her own problems. What she writes now seems flat at times because she tries to be universal too much. It's the same rhethoric as "we all cry the same tears at night, life is strange oh oh". I just don't think she's necessarily a good *universal* lyricist, you know what I mean? Like St. Vincent was able to write The Melting of the Sun, but Man's World or Purge the Poison -- lyrically, because sonically they're very, very good and I am really happy fo that -- seem sillier.

I want her to explore something that she has not explored about herself. This is what she needs, to be an explorer, actually interested in what's to find instead of digging the same hole again and again. Maybe something about sensuality, sexuality, something peaceful yet dreamy & beautiful, she could draw inspiration from Lana's Music to Watch Boys to or Bush's The Sensual World. Or even the other way round, more like Lily Allen, the sexual rebelion. Who knows? This is just something completely random that came into mind, and, duh, she's got lots of time and money to think about her new project to make it interesting.

Anyway Scab & Plaster is probably never coming again because I cannot imagine her releasing a song about her hating her dad after a decade. Will she even do that compilation album? Right now even Marinazine is abandoned lol.

Froot really has such a powerful chorus
imma say it: Froot is one of her best songs, and FROOT is her best album

“it’s a situation between two people who i both respect” where is the respect for kesha?? has she even taken back her statements about not believing dr. luke is an abuser? or apologized to kesha for discrediting her and calling her a liar? you can’t say you respect her whilst respecting and being a “big fan” of her rapist. i wanted to believe that kim was working with dr. luke unwillingly but the aaron joseph tweets just go to show that she doesn’t care what he’s done as long as he furthers her career

    basically to summarize ::
    - she has worked with several s*xual predators willingly
    - her music has taken a sharp decline in quality
    - she has also willingly signed with larry rudolph who was a major pawn in britney's conservatorship
    - she has indirectly accused kesha of lying

even if it was just for the controversy there's only so much you can do before it just makes you look like a terrible person

edit: btw this isn't me calling you out i'm just summarizing why she's over

it’s literally all his signature synths throughout he definitely worked on this and i find it hard to believe he had no involvement in the conceptual side too. i mean kim has never done this vibe her sexuality has been confident and playful in the past. i read a review that summed this eps approach perfectly : When you sing about sex without agency and drive it’s just abuse.

the fun part about this all is that i bet dr. luke had no involvement in this ep at all, it sounds too cheap for someone with many years in this industry like him but yeah i'm fed up with kim messy ass i ain't defending her no more, cancel her all you want i'm out of here
