  1. To me, it would've made more sense to hire a teenager with some resemblance to Lana to play 19-yr-old Lana on skates...having the double in that absurd wig with her face blurred out like we're supposed to pretend she's Lana was just... Also deeply baffled by the intermittent arm sling; either have it or don't, but it looks super lazy to have it part of the time. And masks part of the time. Mess. But then, I also have mixed feelings about the song--the baby voice sounds so strained that it makes me flinch, but I love the lyrics (except that weird awkward thing about the meninthemusicbusinessconference). If she sings it live with her normal range in concert I would legit love it.
  2. This is her grown-up "Sirens." Chill, meditative, slow-burn. For me, TJF is the only one I would listen to as a standalone "single." The album overall is way more country than I would usually like, BUT I think it is the absolute perfect album to sing along to for a long road trip across open spaces...especially at night. For me, she's channeling the artists she loves so much that if you told me this was a cover album of lost songs from Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, etc, I would 100% believe you. However, I know it's just a side of her we haven't seen before...earnest, romantic, mature. I see myself listening to it in the car a lot. P.S. Yosemite made me cry, but that might be because I thought we'd never get it?
  3. Seeing Chuck's post upthread saying "love you daddy", I had to do a double-take to realize she means her baby's actual daddy not, like, "you can be my daddy"
  4. Apparently it is a mix of colors, if I'm reading that right? Chestnut, Midas Touch, and...wait for it...CHERRY COLA!
  5. Auntie Lana!!!! I bet she will write poems and songs to celebrate. "I wore diamonds for the birth of your baby, for the birth of MY NIECE" (or nephew but it's too many syllables)
  6. Random thoughts in no particular order, after reading the interview again: 1. I think of old-school country (not pop-country) as songs that tell stories, often stories of heartbreak and/or traveling the open rode; LDR does have that same narrative quality in Video Games and Ride. Doesn't mean she's going to sing with a twang or play the harmonica. 2. I've been wanting to hear Lana cover anything Portishead forever, but her writing her own songs in that vein is even better! 3. Trip-hop is literally my favorite genre. So damn sexy. 4. I do think Charlie used overly harsh lighting for the cover shot; Lana has delicate features, so I don't love that. But the picture with the face-framing white fur (?) is a serve. It looks like a halo for an angel livin' in the garden of evil. 5. The interview is wonderfully thoughtful and in-depth, plus the A-Z suggestions for appreciating her influences are a bonus! 6. To clarify: no one said NFR is "about" Father John Misty meaning she literally fucked him. The interviewer said the persona of FJM (not the real man, Josh Tillman) is the kind of man that she's gently mocking in the song, the same kind of character he played in her Freak video, a guy in love with himself.
  7. This is an excellent interview! Thoughtful, detailed, in-depth, with lots of juicy tidbits that have me so excited for the new album!
  8. Wolfy is the new witchy. She looks beautiful! (Not saying she did this, but FYI getting Botox on your forehead often causes the brows to lift/arch as well.)
  9. The way Wolf T-shirt grew up to be this video! (Also the way I kept reading "brthr" as "birther" and then it suddenly hit me it's probably "brother"?)
  10. They took her weirdness out of context... I think the video clarifies (for me) that she assumes people know where she's coming from (liberal, anti-Trump), and it's a shock to her to be misinterpreted, even though her ambiguous words do honestly leave her open to that. I wish she would just say, "the sound bites from my interview were misleading; I'm horrified about the attack on the Capitol" and stop there. But I will say, I much prefer angry defiant "fuck you" Lana, because she's still making amazing music. I really worried she might flounce off and not make music.
  11. I think it's "YOU'RE in the wind / I'm in the water" because it goes with the implied [you're] "nobody's son" [and I'm] "nobody's daughter". Also sounds like "we're in our jewels" rather than "wearing our jewels" although it doesn't much matter. I am in love with this song, oh my GOD.
  12. Which of us hasn’t gone out in bedroom slippers? (Usually by accident for me ) Relatable queen!
  13. That’s so cool, Elle! Angry Lana eating tacos is a big 2020 mood. (and maybe also a new fetish)
  14. Being a Lana stan is the weirdest ride. The way you start by stanning a woman who clearly understands what it's like to be dark and messed up... ...and then one day you find yourself staying up late to watch a cat lady in a grey twinset and pearls sitting in her Magnolia Farm by Chip n' Joanna house, singing a Jesus Christmas song and an earnest heteronormative love ballad. AND YOU LOVE IT.
  15. Lana + her cats is the cutest thing ever. I thought the “C” stocking might be Chuck not Clay, but could be either. I love her hair. She did that!
  16. So relieved you don’t need to make an account to watch! Sipping spiked eggnog and enjoying the energy on here while I wait for Lana to show.
  17. I think she should do "California Dreamin' (On Such a Winter's Day)" for the cover song. Perfectly Lana without being the wrong season like "Summertime".
  18. 2020 MOOD! I about died of cringe hearing Jimmy Fallon say "let me love you like a woman" all serious-like. No thanks, Jimmy, please don't. I LOVED Lana's updated Ride hair and sexy-country look. Also love the backup singers; they are true queens! Wish it had been a new song or any info on COCC, but it was a good tv comeback.
  19. Oh wow, I was assuming it would be a cover of a holiday song, but her posting like an adorable airplane makes me think it actually will be COCC (airplane making chemtrails in the sky). The way we maybe won!
  20. If she sings a song from COCC, even if it's LMYLAW, I wish she would show up as the eccentric-rich-lady character she played in the video with the typewriter and the cats. Wearing a bathrobe and pearl gloves, just being totally weird and Jimmy can't tell if she's joking or not.
  21. Dec 14, I would expect her to cover a Christmas song, possibly one of the covers from the album (assuming any of them are holiday songs). Or "I'll be Home for Christmas" again because sis is lazy. But who knows. She loves to surprise.
  22. Everyone else on Nov 26: small business Saturday Lana: *goes to Target* : (I still love her)
