criminally underrated EP. although it's sonically cohesive, it really does feel like every song has it's own little vibe to it, it's own little quirk, it's own little touch of magic. i actually see paradise as lana's most cinematic work, by far, and every song is soooo damn tight (except maybe its version of yayo lmao) i can't see why people underrate it.

i know lana is more than capable of an incredible performance, but is it wrong to say i kiiiiinda hope she doesn't perform?? she gets so incredibly nervous, i'm so worried she'd mess up and it'd put her off performing once again.

orrrr maybe if she'd do it and mess up, she'd serve paradise-era levels of effort in her vocals and looks and performances again to make up for it, kinda like post-SNL

I feel like Paradise is weirdly under appreciated amongst Lana fans and I’ve never understood it. Anyway, Paradise is a great album. At least I think so. With only 8 songs and a runtime just over a half hour, it feels the most like an old classic album out of all her albums. And to me it’s always been almost a jazzy psychedelic rock album (I know it’s not really). And all the songs are amazing too. My favourite song on the album has always been Body Electric and it’s probably even still one of my favourite songs of hers in general. And idk if this is weird, but the album as a whole always gave me Janis Joplin vibes even though it doesn’t sound like her music at all... idk. I just love this album and think it deserves more appreciation.

I wasn’t here to celebrate 10 years of AKA yesterday, but you all best believe I gave her a listen (for the record, Put Me in a Movie STAYS my favorite Lana song, period)

I still love this album SO much — it doesn’t matter how much my tastes change; there will always be something incredibly magical embedded into this record. I’m a huge fan of the music Lana is putting out now, but something sets AKA apart — there’s such an honesty and sense of hope and promise and excitement that shines out from it, that you just can’t recapture. It’s a totally singular voice and I hope one day it gets the recognition it so sorely deserves — there is truly not another album like it, by Lana or anyone else.

Hopefully, today or in the next few days, I’ll update and fix up the OP. It’s what she deserves

(She also deserved a birthday leak, buuuuut )

There's some reason why I can't sit still
Every waking moment I feel so unfulfilled
I try to lie down but I don't know how
Baby when I'm sleeping it feels less like I am dreaming, oh my god
    I got a bad disease

    - from Bad Disease by Lana of course. I'm deeply unfulfilled right now and constantly anxious, panicking, on edge. I'm also struggling with addiction, my "bad disease", so that's hurting me rn.

Been listening to Lust for Life a lot this week. I’ve always thought the album deserved more appreciation, but it was still the only album that didn’t become my new favourite Lana album when it came out. Sometimes I wonder if I wouldn’t have appreciated it either if it didn’t have the witchy aesthetics, the Shangri-La’s vibes, and the Stevie collab (those just happened to be things I lovelovelove). But I do consistently seem to like the album more and more over time. More and more over time I’ve been finding the album is a lot more thematically cohesive than it seems at face value. And idk it’s the album that most feels like an opera almost by the way the songs line up. Like I can almost visualize the curtains opening and closing with the discs as acts. Anyway, it’s kinda funny how I’ve been listening to this so much lately. It’s nowhere near as good as NFR but it’s a lot better than even I give it credit for most of the time. In general, 2017 was just an awkward sounding year for music, so I think with that in mind, Lust for Life was pretty darn good. Also, I still soar towards the heavens whenever Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems starts. I don’t think I’ll ever get over that song. I do hope we start seeing people come around to this album more over the years because it is a beautiful album with lots of layers we still haven’t made our way through yet. Sorry if I had nothing new to add, I’ve just been vibing with this album and had a bunch of nothing to say about it lol.

Musically Lana is capable of so much more than what she has displayed on NFR. I feel like the album was just too surface level for Lana. The fact that she says she has recorded a full rock album with Miles Kane but doesn't want us to hear it is shady. Her music process post Honeymoon doesn't fascinate me as much as what it used to to be honest. I feel like Honeymoon is the last album from Lana on which she gets in the studio and she has a full concept for a record and wants it to have like "x" amount of songs and sound a very specific way.

Both LFL and NFR differ from that. I feel like nowadays Lana just gets in the studio and records song after song; cherrypicks what she likes most and makes a record with that. There's not the same attention to detail or intention to make a cohesive album with a specific sound/production and, dare I say, concept album? Didn't Jack say in an interview that he and Lana they basically met and just recorded a bunch of songs and never really stop? Also, on LFL, while the album's roll out was rushed due to leaks, I feel like Lana kept going back to the cutting board to add/remove songs (still can't believe that we have Coachella, but never got Yosemite).

The real surprise on White Hot Forever/LP7 to me would be that Lana actually has a concept this time around.

Oh I totally forgot about the "Red Hot Chili Peppers Influence"! I'm wondering what some of the early outtakes/demos from this album could possibly sound like. Didn't she record an album with a band prior to NFR? Her music process absolutely fascinates me and it's crazy knowing that she's recorded so much over time, I'd love to hear the demos from this era because I feel like these songs may be more emotionally effective and enriching with a different, more raw sound.

But when it comes to LDR7, I really don't mind if she goes with a similar acoustic sound but I really want her to take her vision seriously and have confidence in her ability because she is totally capable of it. I want to have an album full of beautiful songs that show a maturity in her writing and approach, with better production and better panning. Also MVs that suit the song.
