  1. I don't know why so many people think that images of their unclothed bodies are such a goldmine. It's a buyer's market for nudity - every person with access to google can spend every minute for the rest of their life looking at nude pictures via google, without having to give up anything. Any producer who trades one of their artist's songs for a random fan's nudes is: a) an idiot b) finished in the industry c) probably headed to a prison cell
  2. I'll bet anything this guy's releasing a song that either samples 'Born to Die' or quotes lyrics from it.
  3. You don't have to pay to name a brand in a song. It's possible that if a company believed that their brand was being damaged by being named in a song, they might want to bring legal action, but they probably wouldn't win because of 'fair use' laws. Lana hardly ever says anything directly about the brands she names, anyway - she just uses them as images in her songs, so as long as she's not suggesting that the company is endorsing her record (for example), which she never does, there aren't any legal issues. ETA: This article is about using brand names in fiction, and I would expect it would apply to songs as well. The takeaway is
  4. I'm not sure how I missed this thread, but thanks for bumping it. I like her voice a lot. Pretty interesting that the project came together in Melbourne. Can somebody please send me anything that's available, apart from the songs on http://www.honeymoonwith.us/anna/

  12. I agree - a subforum for fighting and kvetching works well on Message Boards where there are thousands of active members and multiple topics, where it's relatively easy to just stay out of the way of people you've had a shitfight with, but this board is too small and 80% focused on one subject, for that to lead to less problems. On the positive side, I'm all for reviving MOTM and having different themes for different parts of the site.

    Regina Spektor

New song: I think I like it, but it might take a few more listens.
  16. I strongly recommend that if you haven't read it, give a good read to the article from mtv linked in the first post. It answers a lot of questions about the album and makes some great points about Lana's artistic and business acumen. It's my theory that the record sold very very few copies (something closer to 100-200), based on how long it took most of us to get hold of an original digital copy, and the fairly low sales for independent releases at the time. I'd love to have this confirmed or refuted definitively, but it would help to explain why it was so easy to suppress at the time.

  18. As much as I love the 'all Blake' mix on the periscope, I hope the sound is better in the room.
