I really love the record. When it came out I thought it was alright but the more I listen the more I like it. Mushroom Punch, Last Time and Sunday In Heaven are probably my current favorites.

I really think Lana is Jimmy. Antonoff calls her that. It also connects to the second line of American Whore (I haven't seen my mother in a long long time). Someone probably said this to Lana, either as a joke or seriously, and she's quoting them.
Or maybe she's also talking to herself. She talked to her mother on the phone and knew in her mother's eyes she was "fucking up big time". Maybe Lana even agrees.
Anyway, that's how I understand the whole second part.
Other than that, this song is so deep and dark. The first half especially. It's not a "slutty revenge bop" but I already know some fans are gonna claim that. To me "It's not about having someone to love me anymore" is not about silencing the haters, it's about loneliness or giving up. Together with "When's it gonna be my turn / Don't forget me" that's such a sad thought.

Impossible to write down all of them! There's entire songs that are incredible from start to finish, especially from her Lizzy Grant days up to the masterpieces she wrote in 2013/14.
Baby put on heart-shaped sunglasses cause we're gonna take a ride will forever be iconic and it always puts me in a good mood. I still love Diet Mtn Dew (demo 2) so much.
It was the first non-single track of BTD I heard (the 2nd demo on Lana's YT channel) and I was so infatuated with the lyrics and vibes. I only drank Mountain Dew for a while because of that song. It's packed with iconic lines in general.

Verse 1:
Feet don't fail me now
Take me to the finish line
All my scars run deep
But they can't keep me from feeling alive
It's a bittersweet symphony
This life I lead
But I wouldn't have it any other way
Chorus:
I was born to thrive
But sometimes it feels like I'm living to survive
I can't help but wonder why
We're here for such a fleeting time
But I'll keep chasing the sun
Until the day I die
Verse 2:
I've seen it all before
Broken promises and shattered dreams
But I won't give up hope
For a life that's full of beauty and meaning
In a world that's so uncertain
I'll hold on to my faith
And trust that love will find a way
Chorus:
I was born to shine
But sometimes it feels like I'm just trying to survive
I can't help but wonder why
We're here for such a brief moment in time But I'll keep reaching for the stars
Until the end of the line
Bridge:
Life can be a rollercoaster
Full of ups and downs
But I'll keep holding on
To the love that I have found
I know that I was born to live
A life that's full of meaning and purpose
And I won't let anything stand in my way
Chorus:
I was born to love
But sometimes it feels like the world is just too tough
I can't help but wonder why
We're here for such a fleeting time
But I'll keep holding on to hope
Until the end of the line
LMFAOOO it's giving Cascada

I just hope her lyricism goes back to the great days of Marina and the Diamonds.
In production terms I have no big issues (yeah some are bland, mostly in L+F) but she needs a second, third and fourth opinion on the lyrics (not the message, just the way the message is being worded out).
