  1. degrassi: tng was incredible (and so dorky, there is no way hbo will keep this aspect), but i feel like (esp based on show runners) it might just end up being basically euphoria? i guess we'll see.
  2. big time agree re j&d being the worst on the album– one of the worst songs she's ever recorded (lol but really). i don't listen to gypsy or dope either (and the album works better w/o them imo). aura, GUY, sexxx dreams, mary jane holland, Donatella (incredibly underrated), fashion, swine, venus, and artpop are some of her best songs ever.

  4. the image/metaphor of "star drip IVs" is a top tier lana lyric, so fucking good, super evocative
  5. excited to listen tomorrow omg
  6. this is so wild to me!! wasn't on forums at the time so didn't know how allegedly hated it was until a few years ago when people started talking about it as underappreciated. imo i imagine at least some of the backlash had to do with how MUCH was going on promo wise w this era? it was extremely fucking chaotic– but the music was always there!

    Mitski

recommended mitski songs if i love "working for the knife" but haven't been into other songs of theirs i've heard?
  9. oversize-glasses lana is the best, followed closely by cat eye sunnies
  10. Loved The Power of the Dog and The Lost Daughter; didn’t really like Titane. Liked Nomadland & The Green Knight but didn’t love. Pig was meh for me though also less stupid than I thought it’d be (and really sad). French Dispatch also meh for me. I know a lot of people hated Don’t Look Up but I enjoyed. Passing is prob my fav of the year, incredible adaptation of a terrific novel. Still want to see Lamb, Dig, Last Night In Soho, Licorice Pizza & Cruella.

  16. marina's work just hasn't resonated with me since FROOT. i liked the sound of ADIAML (the single) but the lyrics are meh, so i haven't returned to it much. would love for her to work with a producer totally out of her comfort zone bc i think she's so talented but seems a little stuck artistically.
  17. soringtime matters- no nothing county absolutely coming for me i love the making up song titles era of a pre-release

    Tori Amos

yes!! damn i used to collect CD singles to try and collect all those b-sides lol , so nice to have them on streaming now. ode to the banana king, mary, here in my head, take to the sky, sweet dreams...iconic, every one. wish her cover of "if 6 was 9" was on there!

    Tori Amos

omg happy 30th fucking bday to little earthquakes!! a landmark album, an insane debut, that girl who really started it all. if you don't think all your favs now are influenced by her (whether they know it or not) you're wrong
  22. i always hated nightmare (the production and line "i'm no sweet dream but i'm a hell of a night" lmao i'm sorry it's corny) but the reprise (produced by NIN i'm assuming) truly elevates it
  23. @electra was working on a web page of all LDR merchandise (!!!) but she's been gone awhile hope she's well & that we get it someday! it would be v cool if someone made a thread and OP could update regularly?
  24. not so much the psychedelic part, more like spooky & surreal but strange/artsy def. kind of like alice through the looking glass versions of film noir. highly rec mulholland drive if you're interested!
