We have not seen Lana smoking a cigarette since 2018. As of last year she was vaping.

I think Lana quit smoking but I’m not sure. Can anyone confirm this? What about the vaping. Is she still doing that?

I would hope that she is not doing either of those things anymore. I quit smoking too, much like Lana I also smoked Parliaments. I guess we both had a preference for recessed filters!

But if she did quit that’s good. She’s a vocalist and smoking is something which I would not recommend for anyone who sings.

But damn, it is hard to quit!

I’d love to see Lana release another long song. Heck Bob Dylan just released a 17 minute long song; “Murder Most Foul” which is about the Kennedy Assassination.

Actually it is BS. All these industry awards are. It’s really all about money.
Still there is value in peer recognition. I do think these industry awards have become way too PC now.
It’s like when Bruce Springsteen (Born in the USA) lost Album of the Year to Lionel Richie. I think now we all kind of know they messed up that year.
Or when Pink Floyd (The Wall) lost Album of the year to Christopher Cross. That was a huge screw up.

    2. Let me say this about Best Spoken Word Album next year;

Someone was mentioning Hasley... probably not a threat in that race.

Lana’s biggest competition for Spoken Word Album in January will be James Taylor for his audiobook. But I think Lana has the edge because it’s so different.

This years winner for Spoken Word Album was Michelle Obama.

A Joan Baez collaboration is happening. My gut tells me it’s happening.

When the album comes out, Lana will need to promote it. I know she hates going on TV. She likes radio interviews, so I think she should go on the Howard Stern Show. Howard does great interviews and it might be the best interview Lana ever gets.

No, Lana would not ass kiss. See, Billie Eilish didn’t ass kiss though, but her team did. Her parents connections didn’t hurt either.

Billie did go on a ton of TV talk shows when the nominations were out. As we know Lana does not go in TV. There are a lot of things that I think Lana just isn’t willing to do. She is not a Hollywood insider who likes mingling with big shots.

Having said this, Lana does have one secret weapon; Jack Antanoff. In this case if he were to go around to all these industry events, mingle and simply talk about his work with Lana then she is in business. Also, the engineers and mixers who work on Lana’s music need to show up at events too. At AES last year (which I attended) I didn’t see Jack or any of Lana’s engineers/mixers. At AES, all the audio professionals gather and many of them are voting members of the Recording Academy. The key is to be making waves within The Producers and Engineers Wing of the academy. Now Billie’s team didn’t have to do any of that because of all the money she made. But I do believe that in the future that even if Lana doesn’t make the most money, if those who work with her in the recording process go to the AES Convention, Recording Academy events (in particular those run by the Producers and Engineers wing) then Lana will have a real advantage.

The biggest voting block in the academy is not the musicians. It’s the producers engineers and mixers. See they all loved Billie’s album because it was recorded in a bedroom with only one expensive plug-in that Finneas used.

But there is a way forward. Make no mistake about it.

Last year's Grammy race was so rigged folks! It was rigged in favor of Billie Eilish.

Both her parents work in the entertainment business. As a kid, she got signed up for GrammyU so she grew up around the academy. Her team shoved her down the throats of academy members. The deck was stacked.

Lana will win a Grammy eventually. Remember Bob Dylan didn't win a Grammy for his own work until 1980. He won Album of the Year in 1998. Even with Dylan the academy was late to the party.

Lana's team (management, agent, label, publishing etc) will need to play hardball for her to win a Grammy but it can be done. Dua Lipa (also managed by Ben & Ed) was able to win two Grammys in one night in 2019. I'm sure this can done for Lana too. There is a way to force NARAS' hand. Make money, shake lots of hands, kiss asses, put Lana on TV, put her all over the place so that she can't be avoided. Then the academy members will have no choice but to chose Lana.

Not until 2022. The eligibility period ends August 31. The album is released on September 5.

At next year’s Grammys (2021) Lana is already eligible for Spoken Word Album (“Violet”) and Best Music Video (Norman Fucking Rockwell).

If a song from the next album drops before August 31, then that would be eligible for Record and Song of the Year as well as Pop Solo Performance.

I look at some of these comments, some suggesting that she is not “sincere” or “deep” when in fact her music is deep and sincere and inspires many people around the world.

As for Lana being bothered when people call her out, she has been treated like crap from the press and online for years. How much of that do you expect her to take before she snaps? I’m surprised she didn’t unload sooner.

But can one really be a fan and really love her while constantly acting like she is not deep and accusing her of being privileged while not really knowing what she deals with on a day to day basis?

This is not how fans treat the artist they like. When I do see this I have to question the sincerity of those who make these kinds of comments and then claim to be fans.

Again, Stan culture and toxic fandom destroys artists. It destroyed Amy Winehouse 9 years ago today.

    Just some food for thought.

CLAIM: Lana was seen with Sean

    FACT CHECK:

    Sean was not seen there.

A fan account on IG took a photo of Lana (the one pictured above) and then took a second one (from Sean’s IG from August 2019). However that second photo was of the back end of Sean’s car. There was a women in the front but it wasn’t Lana. In August 2019 Lana was in Europe. The post from that IG account led people to falsely believe That Lana and Sean were back together.

This is the IG Post in question:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CC97W7SHxaU/

Lana Del Rey has been traveling for humanitarian purposes related to Native American causes. Oklahoma (where Tulsa is) has a large Native American population.

Sean Larkin does indeed own a 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. Lana’s producer Jack Antanoff also owns one. That model is very common on the collectors markets. Sean was in LA while Lana was out of town.

    RANKING THE CLAIM:

The claim made is false and is unsubstantiated by any concrete facts. ❌

This claim is given five Pinocchios.
