She really deserved so much better, her influence and talent went so unappreciated. XCX World never got to see the light of day and her work with Gaga got scrapped because people weren’t ready to embrace her artistry, it’s sickening.

I think it would be really respectful in the futur to never mention Taxi or XCX World to Charli ever again. Yes it became a meme inside the fanbase, but it will now be attached to Sophie's terrible passing and for her to receive messages remembering the lost of her friend would be awful

i remember when i first heard bitch, i'm madonna. the mv had just hit youtube and everyone was shit-talking how bad it was, so naturally i checked it out to see if it was that bad. but i found myself enamoured with its duality - it was using traditional transgressive sounds and genuinely making something fresh and progressive from it. it grew on me with every listen. then, when vroom vroom hit, i couldn't stop listening. trophy just hit different. then xcx world leaked, and those songs changed my life. then faceshopping, ponyboy and immaterial. her work with let's eat grandma in particular was something that kept me sane and made me feel grounded during an incredibly difficult time.
 
i just can't accept that she's gone. she was at the height of her powers.

I'll never forget how powerful and embraced she made me feel listening to "It's Ok to Cry" before and after coming out, devastating, just devastating

No judgement for anyone who can’t or doesn’t want to speak right now. It’s everyone’s right to take time process this, as it’s such a shock. 

to me SOPHIE and charli are so connected this feels twice as painful, i'm losing one of my favourite artists and my other favourite artist (charli) lost her biggest inspiration. 
 
i fear for charli's acknowledgement of the death, it's still so early in LA she might be sleeping and i'm breaking for her already

I’m having a real hard time accepting the news, like it still hasn’t settled in that she passed away. This is a set back for the music industry, like I truly believe that this girl was about to change the whole music industry with her sound (esp. with the transnation tracks). I’m also mad that in a way she wasn’t celebrated enough during her lifetime. It’ just cluster of emotions that I’m feeling rn and I just want this to be a bad dream or even a sick joke...

She really was the vision of trans excellence in art, such a huge loss to our community in every way I'm gutted man

If you feel like you've lost hope hearing about her death - please don't. Look at how much support she's got, even from mainstream DJ's, performers and singers - this is huge! Everyone using the correct pronouns, acknowledging her work and legacy - truly a progressive icon for LGBT and creatives. 
 
It's amazing - we can grieve but feel relief that everyone is here for her and the community 

In case it’s not abundantly clear already - please allow Charli to respond in her own time. She’s made it very clear how impactful SOPHIE has been to her music, career and artistry. It’s going to be a sore topic for many in that circle for a very long time.

Listening to Immaterial right now... Not only her legacy in the music world, but also her legacy in people's lives will live on forever. This is so sad?

Honestly though Charli's career timeline has always fascinated me so much, especially 2015-2017...
 
Summer 2015 was a real turning point in her career, I remember her performing Mow That Lawn live for the first time that summer at a festival and she introduced as her brand new song and there was a lot of speculation that she was planning to drop a full punk project that year. But we also know it was mid-late 2015 when she first started working with SOPHIE and Girls Night Out was written that year and that would've been the beginning of super pop / PC Charli... Then we got the Vroom Vroom era which was kinda crazy as the follow up project to Sucker?! 
 
Then we had the stop start 2016 / 2017 album campaign which caused her to rebel and give us Number 1 Angel, which again was different for her. And then to end the year with Pop 2! Like damn, I think since Pop 2 she's kinda stayed in one place in terms of her sound... But those few years were really a rollercoaster ride.

The album was officially called "XCX" in 2016. She had a huge rollout planned for it with an entire XCX universe and a brand. It was some hyperreal Paris Hilton type of shit. It was supposed to be out May 2017. Atlantic had huge promo slots and online campaigns made. "After parties" with fans. She had some ARTPOP app type of tech ideas. XCX calculators, Pet Boyfriend app that was like Tamagotchi.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more stuff. It was a very ambitious and huge project that was unfortunately scrapped.
