Degrading the experiences, expressions and art of another woman is also not presenting a productive solution to the questions that feminism tries to address.

I stand by it she needs to sample !Franchesckaar! at some point, there’s way too much potential there

okay so my immediate thoughts after my first listen: i feel like this album is so personal in a way and she kind of let loose with her lyricism, it feels very much like a stream of consciousness at times? which i like, it does give it an experimental edge. live for the production & melodies, its so quintessentially her but i feel like shes breaking boundaries and barriers within her own cosmos.
its beautiful but there are some skips for me personally, maybe theyll grow on me idk. listening again now but without the grants, judah smith interlude, kintsugi, fingertips & margaret.

also peppers is so incredibly good never knew i needed this collab. lana rly thrives on these more dancey tracks with a good collab.

At least we got Marina reference from Lana in Candy Necklace tho. Super suicidal and Bible can't be coincidental

Why is power and control listed as power pop?

power pop is poppy power chords similar to pop punk but not punk influenced.

songs like Stacey’s mom, Gold coins by charli xcx, Beverly Hills.

Power and Control is Gaga dance pop.

Long life to FROOT, an iconic era followed by… well… not greatness, that’s for sure

love her TFJ, EH and FROOT trio though!

honestly I really like the sentiment of this one, and the last slide, obviously it's much better than the last one, but overall it's still not a great poem imo. the first 5 lines feel like a separate poem, she should have started it at 'I liked being adored' and saved that first bit for something else.
whilst this one is also designed better, (she did it herself this time) the formatting with the random lines to the side does not help the poem at all. if they had a double meaning when you read the bits off to the side separately then that would be ideal but they don't. hoping the next one will be better again, she always picks questionable first singles so what were we expecting really.
    also  marinabook, forgotten about again.

What I find so interesting about this album so far is that I don’t have a big urge to listen to individual songs. It feels like the album needs to be listened to as a whole. Like there are songs I don’t particularly care for on their own, yet this still might be my favorite Lana album as a whole because of the mood, experimentation, and ambition it has as a whole. I think I even like that it feels challenging and inaccessible in places.

I know I’m preaching to the choir, But Lana is really incapable of making a bad album.
Like I remember thinking grandfather would be different judging by the title, But no it’s a masterpiece.
I’m thinking it may actually make my holy trinity, UV>HM>DYK

    Thank You Lana!

i guess the only issue is that it's way too personal (and too freestyle in composing / writing / piano-focused) in the middle of the record that it is hard to connect with a wider audience

a solid 9 out of 10 with all things considered. top 3 album along with NFR! and UV for me (for now).

I love the story she's telling with these city names belonging to a different country

    Paris, Texas
    Florence, Alabama
    Venice, California

in a song where she questions if she belongs to that place or not

I shared it here before in more detail during the Pre-Release, but I formed such a core memory with the title track that I'll always carry with me. In short, I gained the news of three deaths within 24 hours just days after the song's release, one of which being my dear friend Candy that I had met through the Lana community that passed on the day of the song's release, a man in a car accident I was stuck behind in an Uber with my girl while we were blasting this song on repeat waiting for the traffic to clear, and the death of my friend's husband when I signed onto Facebook for the first time in years to attend Candy's livestream funeral. It was very overwhelming, and re-listening to this song floods me with the same emotions I had within that 24-hour span. I felt like those 3 people were very clearly trying to tell me not to forget them before I even knew they were gone. Their message was received loud and clear, and I'll never forget hour span. I'll always think of those three while listening to this song. Such an emotive song.
Onto Sweet, my first new track from the record!! (aside from my initial listening party listen) x
