my ~controversial~ opinion but honestly… both Downhill Lullaby & Don’t Forget do not give me that buzz that i get from songs like 24 Hours, I blame myself, love in stereo, etc.. i wouldn’t call them bad songs, but they’re both lacking melodically for me. Neither song is a good single choice imo, they both sound like deep cuts that i’d have appreciated more if my first exposure was within the full album.  

sky's vocals being "drowned" has always been part of her signature sound, her voice being mixed between instruments rather than being in a privileged spot in the design is something that goes back to NTMT –for example: the whole album lmao but like boys, ain't your right, omanko etc. and the same applies for her "noisy production".
 
sky's music is not for you if you consider don't forget "horribly mixed", and that's ok, but don't pretend like that's your hot take and not just a matter of personal preference. 
 
 
 

The article was so tacky and disrespectful you can really feel her production credit omission was on purpose. Sue really shit all over the lyrics & vibe while basically saying the production was the only redeeming factor, conveniently leaving out that Sky had anything to do with it. Even more embarrassing that sky was just talking about that in an interview!!! Happened in real time  
 
the song is alright to me personally, i think i’d enjoy it more within the album. I’m still not really gonna let myself feel any excitement for this until the album is here honestly.

I’m liking all these reactions good or bad but Pitchfork’s review was a little odd considering how often they rave about Sky ddd it reminds me of them hyping up Ethel Cain for a year + enlisting her for their festival and then demolishing her amazing debut album in a horribly written review

Imma pass the fuck out if after the single release (one, two weeks) the fucking album is put up for pre-order.
At this point is heavily unrealistic but also I don't lose anything deluluing myself once more with this girl.

Honestly, if you’re gonna attempt to shit on the way a woman looks with a pfp of a woman who’s clearly not you, you should post photos of yourself so it’s fair game…

i mean the meme is not wrong, its not that nobody else is oppressed by their label but... halsey? tiktok was already a thing when she released IICHLIWP which got a whole film for visuals and it had no potential hits for tiktok.
 
also, how is it that her label isn't interest on her releasing the song whatsoever, but gave her money to shoot a music video for it? 
 
to me its clear that this whole thing is just marketing to - surprise! - get a viral tiktok moment and promote the song before its release
 
ALSO, IF that is true and the label is oppression halsey then its pretty funny since she was the one who said years ago that sky was lying about being held back by her label and now its happening to her. seems like karma to me, and sky has all the right to shade just for that alone

I'm exited for the first official release in years but being honest, this rollout is underwhelmingly boring. It was teased way too soon (and we were all so happy that day!) but the hype died down as a whole month went by without any news on the matter, and now that we're on the release week, Sky, known for teasing way too much, is completely silent. 
 
ik this is related to her increased anxiety problems, but the only thing we actually got with the DHL release was a pitchfork interview and that alone was more than enough! 
 
This album is clearly important to her and a pivotal moment in her career – being one of the most anticipated albums of the decade, having been rewritten several times while described as a "heavy visual album", plus all the mysterious circumstances and vague hints that surrounds its delays – I want her to go full force with it. I don't mind being gaslighted again, I just need to hear her say that this album is going to be the greatest thing ever released just to feel like this is actually happening. 
 
 I'm just looking forward the mv and cute sandy kim behind the scenes pics, maybe that'll be the big breakthrough we have been waiting for 
 
 

I'm gonna make myself a glass of good drink for the premiere. All of us should, we deserve it.
