Bah is it that important? I see the a&w single as the new VB: it won’t chart but will slowly gather streams over the next months.

The way we have everything and nothing at the same time 

here’s what’s gonna happen on tuesday: lana’s fans from all over the world are sitting by their computer at 4:00 pm GMT on valentine’s day awaiting lana’s new single and merch. an hour goes by and nothing. 2 hours goes by and nothing. the fans are furious and lanaboards.com crashes  there was no release at all that day, not even a word from lana. a riot starts in venice beach in front of lana’s mural (fans didn’t know where else to go) because the fans are STARVING for something… anything. Ben and Ed get so overwhelmed by the riot that they quit as lana’s managers. Lana ends up getting new management and they force her to be more active online. she ends up releasing A&W along with her whole album next Friday the 17th of february and continues to drop a new album every six months and goes an a world tour. the end

Again, I don’t think caring about commercial success is silly or shallow. I think basing an artist’s worth off of those things IS, but that’s not what I’m implying. As a fan for many years, I don’t think it’s accurate to say Lana doesn’t care about commercial success. In the LFL era her team fought for number 1, in the NFR era she made a video talking about her first week streams. Do I think she bases her worth off of those things? No. Do I think I would like her music any less if it didn’t sell well? No. But I think it’s naive to think that commercial success doesn’t matter to artists. If you or I were to release an album to the public, seeing it be well-received would be rewarding, both critically and commercially. I rest my case on this topic now. ✨

I’m kinda confused as to why I keep seeing speculation that there isn’t going to be any visual projects for this album. (Maybe I missed something?) I’m not saying she’s gonna release a bunch of music videos, but wouldn’t it be weird if she didn’t release at least one? That would make this her first album without a single music video. Which seems odd to me because she’s never done that before. The fact that we already have three magazine issues, two singles and merch implies that this is going to be a BIG era for her. I can’t see her putting this much effort into an era just to not release a video

In 2 days we'll have the A&W masterpiece, a magazine cover, the new merch, meltdowns from people that didn't like the song, more meltdowns from people fighting with those that didn't like it, meltdowns cause it doesn't sound like OTTR, meltdowns cause there's a piano note hidden in the background, delulus (me) saying the MV and album trailer are still coming trust...
