I agree, I definitely have sympathy for that. I think it's more a frustration that she tends to speak out about ideas long before they have any basis in reality, so people get hyped and then stuff never comes out.
Big picture, Lana has given us a lot of stuff over the years, she has a pretty big output compared to a lot of other artists out there. I'm certainly very grateful for that.

I miss her old glamorous style. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% in it for her music - but old Lana like made me discover style

i don't even think it's her marketing team that dictates it, imo she just goes through phases (the political phase, the witchcraft phase, the silver lake lifestyle phase, the vegetarian phase, etc. etc.) but they're always pretty surface level because they never last very long, thus all the contradictions and actions that don't match her past words. this being said, i also agree that she doesn't give a shit about social movements, not really.

I am pretty disappointed in the direction Melanie decided to go music-wise, it was already risky for her to keep working on an aged concept, but I thought that she might still be able to make it work if she expanded on her sound a bit. Conceptually, the whole album/movie felt dull, like it had no deeper connection to the album other than just being a continuation of CB. The album sounds like crybaby if all the creativity of the lyrics and the production of that album were stripped away. K-12, as a whole, is just bland. the songs aren't terrible, and if this was released back when I was into her, I probably would have listened to them, but that just isn't enough to keep me interested anymore. Even though I don't listen to CB anymore, I still look back at what an amazing album that was, and I can't say the same about this one.
Some people here are excusing the mediocrity of the lyrics because it's to make them more suitable for the movie, but that's exactly what the problem is here: The fact that it's a movie reduces the quality of the music and the fact that it's an album reduces the quality of the movie. I know Melanie put a lot of effort into this and that it was a very ambitious project, and I admire that, but the bigger the project the easier it is to fuck something up.
the movie wasn't very good, but it's what you can expect from someone who isn't an experienced director or screenwriter. The visuals were beautiful though, and the choreo was pretty cute, I'll giver her that.

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but the photo they also used for Terrence Loves You promo is just really ugly, I've hated it from the moment I first saw it - the fake bangs don't work at all and her face is a mess, she looks weird like those failed wax figures at Madame Tussauds.
Edit: Also here's a more fresh one, I just can't get into NFR. It's her worst opening track because it's so boring and it's also my least played song from the record atm along with HTD

I wasn't ready to watch the videos until today (don't judge) and then I clicked on them and bawled.
Takes me way back, personally. Everything is just too beautiful and the lyrics go deep.

Sis, what do you think Coachella was?
I don't like it when she tries to do political/social issues shit, either (yeah yeah, she's not trying to be a politician ... whatever) but LFA has many good qualities that Coachella lacks. Such as ... lyrics that make sense.
I didn't understand the "no bombs in the sky" part in LFA; I was srsly like, "WTF is this crazy bitch talking about?" and needed actual Americans to explain to me that it was a reference from the national anthem, but it's FAR better than Coachella in pretty much every single way.
Sincerely,
Children's children's children's children.

tbh I am also kind of bummed about how many tracks we've already heard but whatever, a confirmed date is good news.

I don't like to put down others but...
The only thing uglier than that the Blurt shoot (specially the pics where she's sitting in the chair looking like a methed up Chef Anne Burrell) is that ugly ass mess she did in the cornfield with that ugly ass hat.
