I'm not reading too much into the interview, I think she just doesn't want to talk about Lasso in advance until it's time to roll it out. I also don't think she's worried about trendhopping, she literally said the music industry is going country so she obviously knew a bunch of big releases this year would be country. She probably said that to get ahead of it and show that she isn't just following the trend and has been working on a country album for years.
 
I have a feeling Lasso is still on track and she just doesn't want to discuss it right now.

i'm 100% here for melodic, structured songs. i'm kind of sick of the stream of consciousness writing we've been seeing from her and other artists lately.

There’s no way she canceled the album or changed the genre, like the country theme they did for coachella with a rope, wearing all these country outfits, singing with so many country artists, opening Coachella with a country song, Margaret calling her country queen, henry being produced by a country producer, tough having country lyrics, and her saying she’s going country, all went for nothing? 

I feel like its gonna be Country but obviously infused with her own elements. I dont think its cancelled or scraped because she has done so much work/meeting country artists recently.
I feel like her saying “everyone went silent” - because no one believed that the music industry was going country. But then the week later 4 aftists were going country so she was trying to say “did I prove my point”

i think lana is genuinely concerned about looking like a trend hopper (“four major artists announced country albums”) so i think the country thing has probs been shelved for now  which is unfortunate bc i think it would’ve slayed but i’m just excited she’s feeling a bit more playful and melodic for the next record !!

I think it’s obvious from this interview that lasso has been cancelled and the country is gone and the best case scenario we get another album in 2025. Hopefully working with quavo redirects her to trap again

Interviewer: What can you tell us about Lasso coming out later this year, you're going country right?
 
Lana: Oh jeez, well what can I say now. What can I say now. I mean when I gave Jack Antonoff his award for best producer of the year and I said welcome Nashville to Hollywood and Hollywood welcome Nashville because the music business is gone going country and it went silent. Five thousand people dead silent and then the next week we had three major artists announce big country albums so where is Lasso going I really have no idea now. You know what I mean?
 
Interviewer: Lyrically (?) while it's been inspiring is it part of that fun and ease you were talking about on stage?
 
Lana: Yeah I would say so, maybe less to say in terms of any kind of self-revealing things like on Tunnel or Blue Banisters or Chemtrails, more melodic, maybe more like American songbook style.

Ah well I guess she wasn't lying, the fact is she probably wasn't asked and she did this off her own back and presented it to them. Like when she randomly emailed the producers of that Daniel Johnston doc her cover of Some Things Last a Long Time. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take 

it’s so interesting seeing her get her flowers in so many ways but at the end of the day she’s still taken more seriously as an artist outside of america.. compare these questions with the stuff she was asked at the met gala lmao like different universes

Holy shit, BBC asking some of the right questions, although we kind of knew it earlier it was nice to have some confirmation about it. It's nice to have some nostalgia crumbs about Honeymoon  And also fuck the producers, they had the perfect song for the movie but they blew it. I hope she will write for the new movie, she follows the next Bond on Insta as well (and he follows her as well). 
 
Also I loved this part where she said:
“But I'm going to continue to do my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend it's the title track.”
 
I really want her to do soundtrack for the new Sinatra movie as well 
 
Also I loved these Ocean Blvd crumbs:

Next week she's in Spain, so like last year, I think she'll be in Europe for the whole week before Primavera (like she was in Europe 2 weeks after Glasto and before Hyde Park in 2023). I really hope she's in London for a while, so you could meet her, wishing best of luck! 
 
She usually calls her friends as sisters too, like Jen, who has two kids!

Lana talked about 24 being the song she pitched for the Bond film Spectre back in 2015!

I don't know if I'm gaslighting myself but I'm certain she actually denied this at one point?! cause I remember thinking she was lying.
 
That video is very fun. Has the audio been pitched down? Her speaking Voice sounds lower and she seems more eccentric than usual
