And let's not forget Ann Powers writing about how Lana should or must feel and think on any number of issues as a woman and female. Otherwise, Powers implied, you're out of the girls' club, you're foolish, you're a puppet of male influence, a manipulated media creation, retrogressive, etc.

Here's one Powers snippet from the NFR! era:

"Lana Del Rey is all about wrong combinations: sunset dreams and dirty water, Mexican-American braids and a wetsuit, hip-hop flow and torch song feeling, conventional feminine submissiveness and post-feminist self-possession. Cognitive dissonance is the essence of her art, the way she builds her dream logic...The tone of her voice as she uttered these words [in Video Games] was forever after labeled "sad," but was really something different. My mom would have called it "needy"; today, more common descriptions are "disempowered," "self-sabotaging," "unwoke.""

Kim Gordon, the respected co-founder of Sonic Youth, also came out against Lana for being retrogressive and backward. "The Sonic Youth founder says: “Today we have someone like Lana Del Rey … who believes women can do whatever they want, which, in her world, tilts toward self-destruction, whether it’s sleeping with gross old men or getting gang raped by bikers. Equal pay and equal rights would be nice.”

    I say, let Lana be.

People have a perfect right to like her, love her, dislike her, or dislike who they perceive her to be even if they continue to like her music, and say so, as all of us do about any performer or anything at all. If Lana is anti-feminist, then she has that right (though I don't think she is).

Politically and culturally liberal artists (and cultural institutions themselves) like Joan Baez, Patti Smith, Stevie Nicks, Courtney Love, and Bruce Springsteen--would hardly support Lana is she was the way the media has painted her. I note most or all of them believe in the relativity of belief and the depth and complexity of individuals.

What's fascist is to say, "You must think this way about feminism," "you must believe as I do about Marxism, Wokism, or MAGA-ism," "there's only one way to think about _______," etc.

We'll see what the lyrics and album concept of TRPWS will add to this ongoing conversation and debate.

she already said she’s happy in this relationship, and after ages of not posting, her last instagram picture was literally her pants with his name on them

we don’t know him personally so as @KeiichiDelRey said, can we not?

The way everyone says she's killed all hype but the second she hiccups everyone's going to lose their minds

so can we finally stop trusting self proclaimed insiders now

Lana prereleases are generally very quick. Typically there is only 3 months between lead single and the album, so if she sticks to the end of May the single will likely be next month, but personally I think March is more likely.

Not to beat a dead horse but the worst part of Lana's Lasso announcement was when she said she's worked on it for four years. That part alone made us so sure it was actually coming.

A-men. I don't care for anything she did with Nikki Lane, including Breaking Up Slowly.

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't want any country artists as features on this album. Assuming it's country-esk, I want more experimental or pop artists. I can't stand Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan, and other country artists' music

idk it seems like such a shallow way to approach art. Like “take out this collab and its a classic” who talks/thinks like that.. ocean boulevard is a body of work with a very strong creative vision, I don’t think it would be the same without a part of it however small. I understand disliking collabs cause some times I do that too but I don’t think they detract in any way from the brilliance or artistry of the album

    Yeah, whining sucks, I agree.

But then she did say she'll release it in September last year, which was 5 months ago. If she hadn't done that (nor lied about dropping two more singles by year-end), there'd be far less complaining, I assure you. So, that's on her, not on us.

Now, if the album doesn't come in May and there are no singles either, you can be sure that whining (+ screaming and howling) will be the only vibes on this board when you visit. At least from my end

it's not an era, you guys. One fake album announcement on the gram and a year-old snippet is not an era-make.

basically, we got "My album is called lasso." "My album is called the Right person will stay", a few acoustic notes and a pixart selfie that's her sister's design actually

so, technically, lana gave us two titles, a verse and a caption in 2 years

she's not our musicmaid, and part of what makes her an excellent artist is not listening to what anyone says/ deciding for herself what she wants to do. the release waits can be annoying, but that's part of the deal. take it or leave it n move on.
