You are absolutely right, for her it may have some feeling to mention them in her songs but, there are parts of the song that I am listening that could hurt me and suddenly she mentions a name and it is as if everything that I could feel related to that song is gone, Chemtrails is full of names and BB the too.

Agreed, I hate them But I think it's intentional on her part because in previous eras we'd get the names of guys who she was in relationships with sprinkled throughout her songs - usually bad or screwed up relationships. Now though it feels like she's trying to shed that dramatic "fatalism" vibe that WE all love, because of the amount of backlash she got from critics. It's as if she's trying to project an image of her having more wholesome friendships and being more female-friendly; kinda like "See, I'm not just 'the other woman' or some homewrecking bitch, some of my best friends are women!" and whether or not it rings hollow with fans, or if it truly is a change in how she now lives her life, it feels like a curated move designed to change how she's viewed/judged by critics. Like she's trying to intentionally separate who she is - lyrically, sonically, reputationally - from her previous eras.

The name drops are terrible. We've had enough with Sean, Joni, Joan, Stevie, Cortney, and now Jenny and Nicki Lane. It's a little embarrassing and each new one dilutes all the others.

i cant believe how underrated wildflower wildfire is like those are her best lyrics since honeymoon. they’re so abstract and beautiful and not too wordy, it’s perfection to me

everyone was so disappointed in the production and was expecting so much from mike but he said in the fantano interview that he will always stay true to the artist which he did. the piano was haunting and RICH and the layering reminded me of uv. the percussion on first listen was bizarre but it’s so explosive which i really needed from her.

these first 3 songs are obviously heavy and very emotional. I don’t think lana was looking to make a radio friendly bop out of any of these songs. she’s still working with mike and I think they’re gonna go deeper with that explosive sound. anyways end rant and appreciate these godly lyrics

    Here’s the deal
I promised you like a million tomorrows
    Here’s the deal
What I can promise is i’ll lie down
    Like a bed of wildflowers
And always make the sheets smell like gardenias
    Wild at your feet
    And I
    Nourish you hazily baby, I
I’ve been running on stardust alone for so long...

Text book has no rythm at all and it gets even worse when the chorus randomly slowls down in the middle she clearly just took 3 poems n tried to make them into songs. and she failed

Yep. NFR, nearly 2 years old, has better stats than the fresh 2 months old CoCC. When CoCC is 2 years old, it’ll be interesting to see where it’s at by then.

In other news, idk if anyone else is like this too but it usually takes a couple years for me to finally fall in love with a Lana era. Idk why! For instance, just now I’m falling in love with NFR   Perhaps it really does have to do w maturity (Lana is significantly older than me)?! But anyway... while I’m not into the new BB songs right now, I’m wondering in which season of my life it’ll finally hit me

I like these tracks, but I was really craving a beat. I thought with Mike we'd get something with BTD vibes.
She has probably moved past that, but something that's a bit lighter and fun.
Do we know what the lead single is??

i think there will be. imo the 3 songs we’ve gotten now are just the let me love you of this era but times 3. and the next single/singles (who knows with her) will be the official lead single like chemtrails was.

It’s weird how she went from one of the most visually creative artists inspiring tumblr to where she’s being laughed at now.

I agree 100%. I think she knows 99.98% of her fans base hates it, so she's doubling down and using it as a cover 3 times. Just like she doubled down 3 times with the Question to the Culture mess.
A real management team and a label who cared would have stepped in by now and stop her from making these ugly covers, but like I said before, the label doesn't care and Ben and Ed just want to get paid. It's the sad reality.

im just thinking why is interscope allowing her to release an album like that? Fans either love it or hate it. Locals listened once and moved on. Or didnt even listen at all. I thought after Cocc tanking harder than honeymoon they would make her record something more upbeat and gp friendly but its the opposite the selfie cover will be the nail to the coffin. I guess there will be 100 vinyl variants this time

The start of Blue Banisters reminded me of the start of HBHBHB so I went and listened to the latter to contrast and compare and realised that  that was where the similarity ended because Florence's song has actual instrumentation and builds into something instead of the same thing for 5 minutes

I fucking WISH Lana would do a Delilah at this point and HBHBHB isn't even my favourite Florence album

i still wanna know why she hates graphic designers. and photographers. and decent management.

I mean I wouldn't mind this as the cover tbh just get some groovy font for the title and her name done

if the selfie really is the album cover, i understand the simplicity and candidness she was going for however i just wish it would be done with more poise and not a picsart filter :-( like the UV album cover is so simple, white tshirt in black and white and she looks so beautiful and it emulates the album perfectly. just wish BB would have this vibe too. i really hope the album cover is not the selfie

that's how we got the masterpiece of the nfr cover though... we would have 3 bad official covers in a row if it wasn't for interference

Just a black squares would be so much better, it would be such a statement. But nooo she gotta use this selpie just out of spite bc the fans dared to not like it, even if it makes no sense to use this photo in the music context. And dont tell me the bullshit about the genius of bruises, eyes on her chest and distortion

I hate how people here act like this absolute laziness would be a sign of high artistic profile.
It's not like she has to either do a National Anthemesque visual OR  a potatoe quality selfie. You can do great visuals with a low budget and without much effort.
If she does not want to do photoshoots, she could just use an animation, a painting or whatever.

Stop lying to yourself this selfie is the worst visual she ever released, even cocc cover is better, the fact she changed all of her Sm to this shit... The embarassment

the fact that Wildflower has way less streams than the other 2..... yet.. is easily the best of the three?  Mike Dean SERVED on that track.

PLS don’t act like 95% of their catalogue isn’t hip-hop or at least pop infused and this is neither

probably cause that’s who most of us fell in love with ? i don’t see what’s so hard to grasp here. honeymoon is barely 6 years old, lfl 3 and a half... some of you constantly act as if wanting another record in that direction was the craziest thing to expect/ask for as if she hadn’t had that sound in 30 years. hip-hop/pop sound ≠ born to die. i literally haven’t seen anyone asking her to make another born to die or to copy one of her old albums. wanting hip-hop/experimental influences doesn’t mean we want btd 2.0
