yeah i guess i would have to say Sweet Oblivion, but i love so many songs from Last Words - i would love to hear her cover Crawlspace, Ash Gray Sunday and and and- i'll stop.
oh very interesting, i like OURS that would be a challenge for her and her fandom would freak over more Jimmy Gnecco connections.
i would also suggest Mark Lanegan's Bubblegum because Methamphetamine Blues, Hit the City and Wedding Dress would mesh with her aesthetic so well.
What I like about the suggestion that LDR cover an entire album of some other artist is that would put the universe back into kilter, after the unsettling covering of Taylor Swift's 1989 by Ryan Adams. Screaming Trees is an interesting suggestion for an artist, but if it were only one album, would it be Sweet Oblivion (which has Dollar Bill)?
Also, as an alternative suggestion, let me suggest Ballet the Boxer 1 from OURS (and Jimmy Gnecco)? She'd have to sing full throttle (both emotionwise and powerwise) through a lot of it, and I wonder if she could do that. TBH, I wonder the same thing about Adele.
In before Lana follows her cowgirl routes à la God Knows I Tried western theme...
Hoping for a tracklist like this...
Off to the Rodeo
Music To Watch Cowboys To
Ride (Wild West Version)
Wild West Coast
Million Dollar Cowboy
Cowboys & Indians
Burnt Desert
Sad Cowgirl
High By The Horse Range
Black Beauty
Guns and Cactii
Wild West Baby
The Other Cowgirl
Stable Song
What if she remade some of her best unreleased. And then the title of the album could be "The Greatest Story Never Told". With hits like Velvet Crowbar, Hollywood's Dead, and meet me in the pale moonlight
This makes me happy beyond belief, I can't thank you enough. (Also your signature is my thesis name )
I was thinking about it these days, it sounds cheesy as hell but like, I've been stanning for a year which is nothing but I'm so into Lana herself, her face and her looks and her voice and her words and her entire universe, I'm sometimes forgetting that what fascinated me in the first place wasn't even the lyrics, it was the melodies, the quality of the melodies and how powerful and bold and packed with emotional power they are, it's Lana's biggest strength in my opinion and I relate so much to the way she puts herself in them. Lana's music is incredible, and I sincerely enjoyed the beginning of HM era supremely, not just because it was my first and because of the mindstate I was in at the time and because I met her and she was the first girl I ever kissed and I'll never get over it, but because this music is excellent. I'm not a music critic at all and I'll never pretend I can be but the songs from Honeymoon just lifts the best in me and makes it flow and it's a gift few things can give me. I'm so grateful for all the songs we have. Even when the day come and I won't be interested in Lana's person itself, I know I will still listen to the music, because even if you remove the lyrical content, it's just too broad and too deep and beautiful not to be listened to, stuff like Sirens that took me a solid 6 months of continuous and intensive stanning to appreciate is the now stellar light in my bad days because it just, looks like me. And all the pop songs make me happy to a level that I never reached before, where music used to be a relief for me Lana is making it a strength in my mind and it's just precious, no need to go over it for hours, her music is my life and I can't put that aside.
And on top of this, one year after out of curiosity falling desperately in love in a few days, I'm realizing how much she taught me, I never knew I would be so interested in white trash and old Hollywood glamour and stuff like that, her whole universe, jazz and all, I read several books just because she did and watched several movies just because she did and it's basic stan stuff but it's GOOD, you know, it's not morally bad to be obsessed with a celebrity in this particular way, I've learned A LOT and it inspired me in a completely Lana-detached way. The music I'm listening to right now is essentially her, my old favs CocoRosie, and stuff that I discovered because of Lana, because she was the first person that I listened to that had NOTHING to do with what I used to listen. She taught me that it was stupid to have a priori about pop culture and stuff around it and it's confirmed every day with this forum because as much as contrary to the good sis I really hate drama, there are so many passionate and talented people here that reminds me of Lizzy's raging passion and it inspires me to my deepest depths.
Tl; dr Sorry I'm finally getting out of depression after 4 months and I just feel so ecstatic all the time. Merry Christmas folks may all your dreams come true
Edit: I got so into this that I completely forgot but funny enough, while relistening the album yesterday (I have yet to listen to it in full and order), I found that Freak revealed itself to be excellent and very atmospheric when in good quality, like immersive, I don't know if it's the good word, but it's weird because I was 1000% sure it would be my least fav. 24 is probably my least favourite track, not that I hate it, I just never listens to it it kind of bores me
Not true, David Nichtern said there were some promo CDs produced. And according to CG, David Kahne also said he had a few copies laying around. But vinyl copies? Extremely doubtful.
I doubt there's a connection. Lana's just into self-help shit.
Ha, we actually had an entire thread speculating about this (I think it was called "Do you think Lana was a prostitute?") back on LDR.FM, RIP. I thought we had a similar thread here, but I can't find one. This may be the closest thing.
Oh, I really like this theory. There're so many mysteries about this Ray guy that I always enjoy new "findings" even though they are pure speculations.
The guy you're referring to is probably Ray Dillman. His family seems to play an important role for those T.R.A.F.F.I.C. events the Grant family used to go to. He and Lizzy definitely know each other but I have no evidence that they had a romantic relationship or that he is where the "Del Ray/Rey" came from.
Here's a picture of Lizzy and Ray, in case you haven't seen it.
However some time ago Lana stated in an interview with Intro magazine that her name actually originates from Delray Beach in Florida where her then boyfriend came from. But funnily this also applies to Ray Dillman who according to his Facebook profile did not only go to a school near Delray Beach but also lived/lives near it...
Makes me sad that it was! But, uh -- nobody knows who Lana is in Japan, honestly. So far as I can tell.
I was at this gay bar in Shinjuku, like, back in the beginning of October when I went to Tokyo for three weeks, right?
They (as in the bartender ) asked me what sort of music I liked to listen to, and I played them MTWBT 'cuz the vid had just dropped -- and they were like "who the fuck is this bitch?"
lana needs do an 'art angels' and do tasteful electropop for LDR5. Not Kieron's weird-ass cheap trap beats of HBTB, but like trance-y synths and guitar and stuff kinda like REALiTi. I think as long as she pulls it off intelligently, it could be a hit plus the reviews could be really really good since music journalists seem to respect her a lot more and Lana's already shown that she's a credible artist and not doing it just for the money because of Honeysnooze - I think the press may get tired of supporting her if she releases yet another slow album - a change of style would be good.
I thought it was a good idea to list every concert (as Lana Del Rey) in one single thread. If something's missing/wrong, just tell me!

NEW MUSIC: Lana Del Rey & A$AP Rocky - Salvatore [urban Noize Remix]
With Salvatore being one of my favorite records off Honeymoon, i thought it was awesome that i had an opportunity to give it a proper remix. One which added extended flair and life to with an artist Lana has collaborated with more than once.
