I feel glad watching this video, it looks like what Lizzy Grant would have released if she had the possibility to do it. I am happy that she finally can make her dreams and visions come true.
It is actually more a song about girls than boys, it's the This Is What Makes Us Girls 2.0.
Lana depicts herself as an almost non-human beautiful creature, it gives me also Maha Maha teas. She puts on her music when watching the boys to lure them in just like a siren. It's an ode to carnal enjoyment and appreciation of the human body beauty. Do you remember the poem she read during Tropico about how the body is beautiful but is also the soul?

Darlin' little queens do you know what you're worth?
I'll tell you everyday till you get it, girl
    It's all gonna happen

I just realized that by voicing her interest in technology and cosmology Lana gave a more feminist answer than most feminists would.

Well, I didn’t expected that I will have to witness to her career crumbling so soon.

Many of you will say that’s nothing wrong with selling 200k globally in the first week: “music not the bling”. I would respond to you that by December HM will be off the charts everywhere and will struggle to reach 750k in global sales (and I’m optimistic here). If this numbers become reality she went from selling roughly 6 mil. in the BTD+Paradise to 750k, she’ll shrunk roughly 8 times in just 2 years. I don’t have the exact figures from her streaming data but my impression is that her streaming is also in the pits.

But not the numbers are bothering me really, they are just symptoms of a bigger change in Lana’s perception lately.

From what I saw from the internet, the HM launch was practically a non-event. No one cares about her album. Everybody is polite, fans and critics alike, but in 2 weeks no one will talk about the album. She has no hits, no radio play, no good videos, no performances, nothing.

I sense in Lana lately a certain giddiness about HM, maybe she’s happy that the album was relatively well received by the critics. She seems ready to communicate more with the fans. But soon she will have to face a new reality that her music isn’t ignite to much interest in people anymore. It will be a big hit for her and I don’t know how she’ll take it.

I’m surprised by this because I (and many others) always had the impression that she has a lot of dedicated fans and she’s immune to promotion because she’ll be able to produce certain numbers. Well, it seems that this perception of her was a collective delusion. The latest delusional piece is from one of the rare stans of her music in the American media, Sasha Frere-Jones who called her “ice queen of pop”. While I’m agreeing with the ice part, I have to laugh when he calls her “queen of pop”. How is Lana a “queen” when she’s afraid of performing her music before the GP? She was/is less a star, in the traditional sense of the term, she was more a hyped curiosity on the internet. She lived well of this situation until the internet hype slowed down: in 2015, LDR has become an afterthought and her album launch a non-event. The hardcore fans will keep her in the charts for the 1-2 weeks but beyond them is a big empty space and it’s sad because her music it’s better than that.

But how she got in this place anyway? We live in a world where perceptions can quickly change because of the internet and you can ruin your image in a short amount of time (see Iggy).Well, Lana did everything in her power to ruin her career in 2014 with this “it’s my party and I crash it if I want too” attitude which resulted in random behavior, trolling, canceled shows, irresponsible interviews and a total neglect of her material. At that time I didn’t thought that this will affect her to much because I liked UV but for the GP and for many casual fans she became quickly annoyingly boring. Honeymoon continued the trend with the depressive music and a total carelessness towards presenting her material. She did nothing besides that promotional stint with UO which didn’t helped the promotion of the album, on the contrary.

Regarding the music, without the campiness of BTD, UV and the ice cold HM are just incredibly difficult listens and she doesn’t have the artistic credibility to pull them off. If she’s fantasizing about a career like that of Bjork she’s deluding herself, remember what Auerbach said about her in the RS interview that she’s not respected in the business. But her biggest problem is that, at 30, she still cannot sing live properly and this is so off-putting even for a long time fan as me.

I’m depressed because I don’t see how she can turn around her career. I don’t see her improving dramatically live or investing more in her artistic output. I think that she’s heading towards the Marina category of artists but I don’t think that she’ll take it well: from Glastonbury to Sziget it’s a huge demotion even for someone like Lana who doesn’t seem to care.

I love both albums a lot. I voted for UV only because Honeymoon doesn't have a song as good as "Old Money" which is just literal perfection.

No worries!! I'll get started on these, and your other requests, now

I've made some Lizzy/Lana live ones before though, that aren't in the style of the Demos/Instrumentals ones:

If you want me to do ones like the demos/instrumentals for the lives too, (or replace 'Early Shows' with 'Live' on the Lizzy one), then just let me know

Soo, I always loved to do Lana covers, even if most of them were just slightly edited pictures with font over them

When I heard Swan Song, I immediately had this concept for a cover in my head and even though I never photoshopped a lot (at east not at a very high level) I decided to try ...
The cover turned out quite good, but it was saved in MQ for some stupid reason, so I can't really continue working on it.
The hair looks quite meh and the frame wasn't really finished but well ... I put a lot of effort into it (even though it may not really look like it) so I thought I'd share it witth you..

I got inspired by the Honeymoon Album Sampler. I made this all today; it was a pretty short period of time, so forgive me for it being a little rough. I might remake it some other time, but I think it's okay for now.

Thought I'd share this piece of art I made that was inspired by the song "Ultraviolence". I thought it was cool how I got this wedding/bridal vibe from the song and started making this piece reflecting that, and then her video did it too! This is my first Lana inspired artwork, but I hope to make more in the future!

This is not a hate post against you or your opinion at all, and I am very satisfied with HM as an album, but I also don't get people who throw crap at BTD all the time and say that just because it's her first official album somehow it's also her worst.

I don't get why would someone NOT want her to write about honoring long lost love and a glamorous lifestyle, when that world is so captivating, it just draws you in.
I don't get why would someone NOT want more videos on the level of these:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bag1gUxuU0g
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxDdEPED0h8

I don't get why would someone not want her to do photoshoots this amazing again, who, why would you not want her to look this good again?

Born To Die was not only an album, it was an experience. What she does now does not compare. But I also understand that it is not supposed to, as making BTD was her main goal in life.
Now, HM is a wonderful album and I sincerely love all songs. But I can't help but feel that BTD is on a whole other level.

To me, it's the perfect mix of all her albums together, not really a follow-up to an individual album, but an entire new entity, with elements of all of her previous works.

The title track has strings, which makes it a lot more similar to Born to Die, but is slower like Ultraviolence. Its lyrics remind me of Paradise, with its references to fire, roses, and so on, but it also has a bit of an Ultraviolence feel as well with the reference to "the history of violence" line. It also sounds very much like a soundtrack song too.

Music to Watch Boys To has this exotic/tropical vibe and lyrics that reminds me of Paradise, but the drums remind me of Ultraviolence, as does the "nothing gold can stay, like love or lemonade" line. The only Born to Die reference I can think of is the "blue ribbons on ice" line (This Is What Makes Us Girls throwback).

Terrence Loves You is probably the only song on the album that sounds as if it definitely could have come from another era. It sounds like a bit of a slower Ultraviolence track, in my opinion, with the guitars and drums towards the end, and the jazzy influences.

God Knows I Tried is quite similar to Ultraviolence - not really sure why, but it's kind of slow, has guitars and a lot of reverb. The chords are also quite similar to "Kinda Outta Luck" so it has a bit of an unreleased feel too.

High By The Beach is quite a modern song with a few electronic elements, as well as fast beats and a catchy chorus, which definitely makes me think of Born to Die. Lyrically though, the bridge takes me back to AKA, with that "lights, camera, acción" reference.

Freak reminds me of Paradise, since it's kind of Cola 2.0 in my opinion and it has that same sexy vibe to it. The beats have a similar feel to Born to Die.

Art Deco sounds quite similar to Born to Die as well, with the beats and lyrics.

Religion starts off sounding a lot like Ultraviolence, quite slow and reflective, but by the chorus it sounds like a more mature version of a Born to Die song, with the chords in the background and the beats.

Salvatore has beats most similar to Born to Die, but vocals reminiscent of Ultraviolence or Paradise.

The Blackest Day reminds me a lot of Cruel World, considering its length and chaotic nature. It even references guns. A few of the lines sound like something off Paradise or Ultraviolence ("Just put your hands up in the air, the radio on" which is similar to West Coast and Burning Desire's lyrics). The chords in the background though sound very much like Born to Die, and it's quite a fast track by the chorus and bridge.

24 sounds a lot like her soundtrack songs, but has that same jazzy vibe as Ultraviolence.

Swan Song has the orchestra of Born to Die, vibe of Ultraviolence, and the lyrics of Paradise, but more than anything, sounds like another soundtrack song.

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood reminds me most of Ultraviolence, it has a very similar tone to The Other Woman in my opinion.

So, overall, you can pick out lots of elements that reference her previous works, but the album as a whole is so diverse that it doesn't sound like just one album. It has the variety of AKA and some lyric throwbacks, some similar beats to Born to Die, a bit of a tropical vibe reminiscent of Paradise, as well as the slow, jazzy feel and occasional guitar strum/drum sound of Ultraviolence.

I feel like you should add a "mixed" option to the poll, because Honeymoon sounds neither like just Born to Die nor just Ultraviolence.
