Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

Recommended Posts

Honestly after this era I kinda feel like Lana prepared us to not care anymore. :awkney: I think I'd be okay with a 5 - 6 year hiatus. She'll come back with loads of stories and melodies and we'll be happy, she'll be happy, everyone will be happy. I feel like Lana wants more from life, and we want more from Lana, especially after this whole I don't give a fuck I do what I do I'll lie and I don't care attitude. I think it would healthy for her and us. I see no downside. Maybe she'll release the unreleased tracks in HQ as a 10 years after BTD Golden anniversary album or something, along with a DVD of never before seen interviews, all the footage chick filmed, behind the scenes of many beloved music videos, a couple hour long HD concerts, and a few never before heard gems like The Good Life, I Talk To Jesus, Yosemite, Life Is Beautiful, etc. I'm honestly down with the whole idea, even though I know some of you would die from heartbreak.

the fact that you're not Lana's manager...

Does anyone else feel that HTD is eerily prophetic in a way? Its like her telling us what she will be thinking when she finally does "disappear" from the public eye and gets married. Why else would she write about having "two kids" when she obviously doesn't? This may be a stretch, but I think NFR may be one of her last albums and Lana is therefore finishing the narrative that started in BTD w a happy ending so we won't have to worry about her after she's gone. Thinking of it this way makes her lyrics at the end of the song, "no one's going anywhere," so much more ironic considering she's going to be leaving us soon ..

pretty sure we said the same thing about lust for life though... she's always "quitting music" every album cycle

I knew someone was going to bring up MAC and VB lol.

NFR wasn't done when both singles were released, as opposed to the poetry book. I know we are all tired of this dragging never-ending pre-release period, but she has to release it at some point. And the press release that came out in January with Hope's release said mid-year. No matter what her «endgame» is at this point, she has to release it in the next months (May or June seem plausible). Of course I know things change with her, but I doubt NFR will be shelved until July-August or even later.

I definitely remember her saying in the interview with annie that the album was done when they played the premiere of MAC?? Did I dream that

The album was done. She changed her mind again, though, and decided to redo the album.

« Redo the album » is very exagerrated. My theory is that the poetry book took more time than expected and decided she could still add one more song to NFR in the meantime.

I definitely remember her saying in the interview with annie that the album was done when they played the premiere of MAC?? Did I dream that

She said she had sequenced 11 songs at the moment. It never was done in September.

HTD could be her « swan song » in a way. I don’t think she will stop making music, but I expect her albums to be more scattered in time: she wants kids, she is working on a Broadway with Rick, she started writing and might want to pursue that avenue in the next years.

It’s not uncommon in the music industry, to put out that lead single while the record is mostly done (like there are 2 more songs to go). Like LFL, she must have thought she would be done very soon when MAC came out. But she enjoyed working with Jack and created good songs that she wanted to include on NFR, I guess? I guess she also didn’t expect the poetry book to take that long to write and kinda decided to include more songs on NFR as a bonus?!?! Dont know if this makes sense though.

I’m 100% sure the delay for the album is because that damn poetry book. I’m telling you, she wants to do a bundle of some sort with it. The poetry book, like she said, was just a sort of thing that happened. When it started to officially take shape she may have realized she wanted it to coincide with the album. I feel a strong June release date

She has said it is finished twice now, but Ben said it wasn't completed on IG. Maybe he was referring to the packaging, cover art, etc?

Ben probably was referring to packaging, release date, cover, booklet and stuff with the book so both of them are ready to release at the same time.

That's what I think. We should never have trusted March 22nd, even if it was true, since nothing came from Lana and the same thing has happened with LfL.

i wish it was just that but ben's words "good music takes time to finish ..." im assuming he's referring literally to the recording of the tracks not the album in a whole

tbh she has no reason not to just do a surprise album drop along w the HiaB video

You would think she has an Ariana Grande-like promotion schedule to fulfill :rip:

But she’s not going to do a surprise release. I’m sure she sees it as gimmicky or something.

She said in the last that she likes a schedule, thus no surprise release. But hey, this era is different in so many ways. I don’t see a whole lot of interviews to promote it, so who knows?
