People expose themselves to dangerous chemicals that could trigger an allergic reaction and kill them, because they think their natural hair color isn't pretty enough. Every day in my hair styling forums, I see people severely damaging their hair, damn near going bald, and burning their scalps because they don't like their hair god/nature gave them. And relaxing? Don't get me started on that. I don't see how this isn't mental illness using your logic.
