Say Yes to Heaven

Hope is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have - But I Have It [Sylvia]

Recommended Posts

My personal understanding:

Her past perception of love:

So there's her youth (fifteen year dances), her messy relationships, then being open to Bowery (which is a neighbourhood in NY) & Bowery Bums was a name for disaffiliated alcoholics and homeless persons which the place was known for (kidness of strangers)

Now the present perception:

the stage (finding her love in us), then being devoted to God & talking to him by all means even poor ones (her being a host for God making coffee in a messy pot, she has no other crockery set to present but she's still inviting him to talk)

^ present perception

After she's gone:

coming back to her roots and wanting to channel her dad from beyond the grave, the original love that comes from family.

Take this with a grain of salt, it's my own interpretation.

Ummm wow this would make even more sense.

Didn’t she she was most happy when she was working with homeless outreach in the city?

a strange choice for a single, it definitely needs the context of the full album

what liability was to melodrama if you will

I get these are "singles" - but i still don't think we have gotten the lead single yet.

MAC/VB were so far out, and this almost reminds me of when she released Honeymoon before we got HBTB.

umm didn't lana post the snippet before the latest Banks drama? Also she told fans about this track like mooooonths ago, yeah she could have made some changes since then and include something about Banks but.. i think its more about her depression

it most definitely is not about azealia but she should have changed the lyrics since the context she‘s puttinh this out is months after that drama.

whether they are about someone or something they’d still sound very tone deaf paired with the line before and she shouldnt have written // put them on a song in the first place.

I don't really...understand the song?

I mean, it's beautiful, I love the sound of it. But the lyrics don't really make sense. I see some traces of talking about depression but I feel like it kind of gets lost. Can anyone share an interpretation of theirs?

Yes same I feel like I get the feeling she's trying to portray but as far as what the actual lines mean, even reading over them I'm having trouble reinterpreting them in a way I can rephrase. And as a literature student who does that every single day for classes it's frustrating me, lmao

I think that it's like how she perceives her life right now. She knows what she lived,  what she is living right now and how it would be easier to live. It seems like she's just writing about how she perceives everything that has structured her and how she's being structured right now. It's about how her past still in her present somehow, and what she's changing in her new phase.
