Obviously. But I'm not defending her. I'm doing the exact opposite. Y'all are outright defending Lana and like I said, if it wasn't Melanie, it would be something else y'all bring up to run PR for Lana.

Both messed up, but one is clearly more responsible for accusations.

Terrible things Lana has done: posting on Instagram, mentioning BLM in a song, and marrying a questionable alligator tour guide.

You guys can't be serious. 😭

I'm really not saying this to be confrontational or aggressive or anything really, I like you and I think you're cool! But realistically, Lana nor Ben are his boss, they're not the CEO or HR of Black Box security, when you hire a third party service you're not that involved in background checks, the most they can do is request a new security guard and forward all of this info. I know cause my dad does a similar thing for his company, like he's polite and friendly to the security guards, but he's not all in their business y'know? I hope this girl gets in contact with Black Box security because they're the ones who can do something like firing him. I don't mean to blindly defend, I'm thinking about this logically, and like I said you can't fire someone from a company you're not in charge of. You can only say hey I don't want to work with this person anymore for these reasons please look into it and send me another bodyguard. I hope this guy gets fired cause he's awful, but that's Black Box's responsibility

A lot of you seem to be negating the fact that Lana has developed a personal relationship with him to a degree(buying clothes, dog giving) and she’s(victim) made the family aware yet Lana is still employing him through the third party agency when she+ team can issue a complaint. The abuse is not Lana’s fault but it’s very odd of her to keep this man on as her security if she knows(very likely) considering her brother saw the evidence and read the messages months ago.

I’m confused what anyone expects Lana, TaP, or anyone that’s not in charge of this guy’s work contract to do?

Plus, you can’t just fire someone bc of online claims, that’s grounds for wrongful termination—I hope she’s at least filed a police report.

And if she has filed a police report, then really, it can’t be discussed publicly—he’ll be investigated pending the police, and put on leave until a decision is made. From what I understand (albeit not an expert).

We don’t know his contract but it’s very likely if agency work to be something that can easily be changed arrangement wise to another person.

A Reddit user said that some vinyls from The Weeknd's “Hurry Up” were sent to a university store in Berkeley, California, and one of the album's tracks is a collab with Lana Del Rey” well I’m hanging to this since it’s so damn dry in here

I'll ride with you on this one.

Right! I also saw that the girl, victim of violence in this case, said that this guy has "multiple previous arrests" which made me think because if he's a felony..could he even be hired for working? Idk how this things work there but I doubt lana's team would hire someone who was arrested multiple times, or had other accusations.

Idk they only know the truth (I'm NOT implying the girl lied or anything, just thinking it's all so strange) and they'll do what it's necessary..this thing is surely being investigated and obviously lana's team is keeping a low profile, until something definite.

With background checks, which I assume the place that hired him did, would show even non-felony arrests. tbh I don't think it's being investigated, I think Lana's team is doing damage control but doesn't actually care.

How did Lana manage to get the record deal she did? She gets to own her masters to all her Interscope era records and have complete creative control in her records, and own her back music: AKA, May Jailer, etc. Other artists though don't get to own their masters, surrender creative control, and all past music, released or not, becomes property of the label.

What did she do to get a cushy deal?

She doesn’t own her masters,

She owns her songs/copyright which she licenses to her label.

Dang. Even so, there are a lot of artists who don't even get to do that. Did she have a good lawyer or something?

I don’t know what kind of witchcraft she did to get Universal to buy her out of her previous contract,

But generally if A you don’t take a huge sign on bonus & B if you’re usually the Main songwriter.
Lana most likely gets most of her cash from the residuals,

That’s not saying she doesn’t receive bonuses from the label from time to time.

I really don't want to reignite the flame of this topic, just want to say that this is the most adult post in this entire thread lmao I really hope some of you guys are under 18 or something, bc firing someone is not as simple as it is in movies and cartoons and shit (like, the boss just yells ''you're fired'' and the employee leaves with their stuff in a box)

I was an intern in a public government company and there was a similar case. Someone made an anonymous report that this guywas involved in sketchy stuff (not DV, but it was a crime nonetheless). But he had worked as a government employee for over 10 years or so, and, in Brazil, you can't just fire someone who's worked as a civil server for over ~3 years. There needs to be a very good reason to do so and you have to go to court. The first thing the company did was investigate the anonymous report, bc they couldn't just take it at face value. Then all the other bureaucratic procedures followed.

It really isn't the same thing and idk how USA laws work thank God, BUT, I understand that if the police is involved, ppl just can't go yap about it on Twitter. Even the victim seems to have quieted down. That probably indicates that she went to the police and has a lawsuit going on now.
