i'm not saying she owes us anything. there's a difference between wanting to force her to release stuff or whatever and saying i think it would've been a good idea to put out what she had and what she and her collaborators were confident in, instead of mostly scrapping it. i don't really mind the delay, although i think we must be realistic about it not coming in the next 12 months, but i'm quite sad stuff like henry come on is getting scrapped, that's it. and once more, that's just my opinion, so this tone you have is very much unasked for

But she's not 'scrapping it'. She's switching up the style and production.

I'm honestly not using any tone aside from 'chill, girl' and 'no one is scrapping the songs'. She's not happy with the material yet, but she's working on it. Don't worry about Henry.

Did she actually wanted to release say yes to heaven or she was forced?

This album will come out in spring or summer most likely, no way she’ll wait till 2026. Lana doesn’t like to sit on things too long if she feels it’s ready, otherwise she’ll start having doubts.

if she had what was almost a full album in February (which i'm guessing is true, since she announced it which means it was nearing completion, and since she said it had been in the making for 4 years), and if she doesn't like it anymore, it seems to me she's going to get rid of most of what she had. she's definitely going to keep some songs but scrap some others to replace them with others.

i agree it's not exactly clear to what extent she's just going to rework the songs she already has, but the way she worded stuff the other day makes me think that she doesn't even know in which direction she wants to go yet, so i think she has the intention to write completely new stuff, which means that part or most of what was intended for release originally is indeed getting scrapped.

it's also what happened with lust for life and blue banisters whose final versions aren't technically adored by the fandom. i'd say there's a lot of discussion about the original lust for life and the original rock candy sweet, which she ended up mostly scrapping in favor of something that isn't deemed her greatest work. so i'm excited for southern gothic but i don't think we should take it for granted that any reworking she does is necessarily for the better. i'm happy for the majority of people who are happy we're not getting a country album though

and i know you might not mean it like that but imo it's already quite unpleasant to say stuff like "source?"

I'm 99.99% sure that the original Blue Banisters/Rock Candy Sweet was just the same, minus the Drew Erickson songs but there were more unreleased songs (like Wild One, Fine China, also the I Can Fly soundtrack lol). 

 

I'm sure that the changes in Lasso are just directed towards Southern Gothic sound.

I think we've been lassoed. Again. 

 

Whatever results, it seems will be another compromised LDR album. Except for Honeymoon and perhaps NFR!, hasn't every LDR been compromised, ending up as a sort of jumble of the original conception? 

 

We know she didn't have full control over BTD, we know Paradise resulted from the abandoned Tropico, we know UV was considerably reworked and reconceived, as was LFL to an even greater extent. So was what became Blue Banisters, which was announced under another title, and then 4-6 songs were reportedly abandoned, with the older already-leaked material replacing it.

 

I'm not sure about COTCC, but I know Lana was hesitant about releasing it as it was in terms of production and arrangements.   

 

So that leaves Honeymoon and Ocean Boulevard, and now Lasso is also going through a reconception, likely with an unknown number of songs dropped. 

 

Of course, I want Lana to be happy with whatever she releases, but it's the constant announcing of dates, conceptions, and album titles and then all the delays and changes that bites for Stans and fans.

 

It's redundant to have to say so. I think it alienates and exhausts fans in the long run. All she and her team have to do is keep mum until the details and facts about the forthcoming album are absolutely confirmed--until vinyl is being pressed.

I really think sonically this record is about to be a lot like Text Book. not aggressively country, but definitely leans in that direction. a bit experimental while still having moments that sound like classic Americana, dark tone, odd percussion, pretty subtle but more going on than just piano or guitar. it has the same unhinged energy that she’s been giving off lately lmao. and the vocal style seems to be how she likes to sing now

yes, as i had every right to. songs are getting scrapped, i’m not happy about it because i was interested in them and they were done and announced. i don’t know how that can be controversial. just because lana makes a choice doesn’t mean everybody has to be 100% happy about it, especially when such choices have led to disappointment in the past. i’m not forcing anyone to be unhappy about her choice, as i said, i’m happy for the vast majority who’s happy she’s scrapping the country stuff.
