This def sounds like it was recorded in 2021. I mean this in the most neutral way possible but you can hear that she was plus-size when she sang this. It’s fierce

He played this song in 2020 during a live stream (along with Take Me Back to LA). We don’t if the song had the Lana feature at that time though

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of it

When Abel sang "mama I'll pray" twice in the outro (I read the lyrics while listening to the song), I heard like he was saying "Lana Del Rey"

I read on Hurry Up Tomorrow's Wikipedia that:

Quote

The initial vinyl and CD "first pressing" versions of the album feature a shorter and different track list composed of 11 songs with a total runtime of 41:43. It features alternate versions of the songs "The Abyss" and "Red Terror" and the bonus tracks "How It Feels" and "Runaway".

So...where's the alternate version, like is it released now as well :usrs:

Mama Del Rey :trisha:

"Swan Song. It’s on my album Honeymoon. It’s the antithesis of hopefulness. It’s about trying to find beauty in giving up. If I had my way, I would continue to persist in all areas of my life, but it can be quite challenging because I can be too trusting too soon."

I really like the song and I am obsessed with Lanas part :oprah: Her vocals and the synths are great, she really ate :trisha: I agree with everyone that said we need more of that, I wouldn't mind something like that on her own future projects :true:

And this is no hate on her last few albums and on her recent producers, I really enjoy their work in general but hearing her in a professional mic recording, over this synths and on a Weeknd track again was refreshing, I hope you all know what I mean:true: The year started very good that way, musically at least :thumb2: I can see myself obsessing over the song and getting into the whole album over the two next weeks, then I hope it's Henry time, in conclusion, what a great musically appetizer :gurl:

The song is really beautiful, I loved the layers of this production. It's this dreamy dark electrowave sound which I really love and I'm so glad that we got to finally hear Lana in one those productions.

We can definitely expect amazing vocals from her collaborations with The Weeknd, in the end it literally felt like a space alien sang when she was belting in the outro which was also the same reaction I had when I listened to Stargirl for the first time.

While I'm very grateful that we got the collaboration with Abel, I am bit sad that she was only in the outro like in Party Monster because not gonna lie I expected a full verse like in Stargirl or Prisoner. But I guess it was Lana's choice, like it was with Snow On The Beach. Maybe we'll get The Abyss feat. More Lana Del Rey but a delulu can dream.

I loved the Azealia Banks Twitter beef reference with the "threat not a promise" line.

My favorite collaboration of theirs still is Stargirl, I'll never forget the euphoric feeling of it while listening for the first time. But I did like the new song more than Party Monster or the Money Power Glory remix.

But I also think that the song is one of the best ones from his new album, the whole track felt like a song installed from the future because damn, I loved the dreamy synthwave layers, it was so crystal clear and immaculate. Both of their vocals were stunning as well, I loved that so much, sometimes it felt like the vocals melted into each other which reminded me of Lust For Life. I really need a dark wave electronica album from Lana. She would kill it one hundred percent.

One of my favorites too.

These are all pretty fucking great:

Wake Me Up

Cry for Me

Sao Paulo

Open Hearts (SOTY)

Given Up on Me

Timeless

Take Me Back to LA

The Abyss <3

Hurry Up Tomorrow (fun fact: David Lynch is listed as a writer, and I really wonder in what capacity and how and when this happened)

Quite a few fillers on this record (I Can't Fucking Sing,  Until We're Skin and Bones) and songs that are just fine or missing a bridge (Drive, Give Me Mercy), but I like the record overall. There's a lot to unpack.

The song I'm not feeling at all is Red Terror (a pretty unpleasant listen for some reason despite contributions from Cirkut and Oneothrix Point Never).

The Abyss giving Don't Call Me Angel where the song is just whatever and then Lana's part is completely different way superior song. :toofloppy:

What is it with these DCMA comparisons?

Nothing about The Abyss sounds anything like DCMA.

OH she's saying is a threat not a promise? like as a question I thought she fucked up the Azealia quote :keyboard: the vocals with the delay at the end 200.gif?cid=6c09b9521nl5m0sj76anvwvub87d9zok1qqd9qeroxrgtb0v&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=200.gif&ct=g

he always brings out the best in her vocally cause she's never doing this shit on her own music and why?? its so good she has such a unique timbral quality to her voice and especially her higher register that is so unique and immediately identifiable as her I luv it
