Rebel 3,177 Posted December 1, 2014 With your big eyes And your big lies With your big eyes And your big lies I saw you creeping around the garden What are you hiding? I beg your pardon Don’t tell me "nothing" I used to think that I could trust you I was your woman You are my knight and shining companion To my surprise My love's demise Was his own greed and lullaby With your big eyes And your big lies With your big eyes And your big lies I noticed you got hot in summer You had no comfort Your shirt was cotton Your face was sunburned You paced around like you’d been waiting Waiting for something Your world was burning And I stood watching As I looked down The flames were high You watched me frown I said "goodbye" With your big eyes And your big lies With your big eyes And your big lies Is it me, was I wrong to have trusted you? Did I see what I wanted, what wasn’t true? Was I wrong to go on like a little fool? It’s amazing what women in love will do With your big eyes And your big lies With your big eyes And your big lies
Just Cherry 3,799 Posted December 1, 2014 These lyrics, except for the shortness of the chorus, are pretty lovely so far. Sad.

CarcrashBandicoot 760 Posted December 1, 2014 I love these lyrics so far, they sound so different coming from her.
Greenwich 1,053 Posted December 1, 2014 It sounds like she wrote lyrics and then had someone help her to make them sound.... "better". it just seems more advanced than what she has written in the past..
LittleFool 1,912 Posted December 1, 2014 It sounds like she wrote lyrics and then had someone help her to make them sound.... "better". it just seems more advanced than what she has written in the past.. That or she's just maturing lyrically. I agree with you though. Especially with the possible push for an Oscar nom/win, I'm sure there was more "help" involved than normal.
ilovetati 15,299 Posted December 1, 2014 I think she just wrote them with the film in mind so they're less "Lana-esque." She's a smart writer...I don't think she had much help in making these more conventional.

I think about "Disco" and "Elvis" and wonder why she doesn't stick to this amazing writing though? Like why can't it be great writing incorporated with that lana-esque style? @ it would be very hard to say she's matured since UV (it's been only 5 months) where lyrically i wouldn't say it was anything special.

I guess I don't mean since UV. I more or less mean since BtD and Paradise. I'm lumping Big Eyes with the UV era. From her first record to now, there's been general improvement to me.
Chris Cuomo 3,324 Posted December 1, 2014 lyrics r nice but they're still pretty plain and simple- I don't get how anyone sees these as above her level of writing
longtimeman 9,011 Posted December 1, 2014 Yeah, I love this, but I'm not seeing these lyrics as being some massive jump in quality from Off To The Races or Do Live or Die or Sad Girl or dozens of other songs. (Edit: WTF is 'Do or Die'?)
SarcasticBeauty 1,552 Posted December 2, 2014 Her writing was always excellent in a way that they were hella unique on what happen through them. But these lyrics are something great though. More along the lines of how it was said I guess. More relate-able in the sense of the meaning, because usually in Lana songs you can kinda relate but barely; you'd be stretching it because her stories are usually wild. lol
Anthem 1,559 Posted December 2, 2014 "Was I wrong to go on like a little fool? It's amazing what women in love will do" Sounds like Lana has been back on a Wicked Game kick. "Strange what desire will make foolish people do" This song sounds amazing though tbh. I like the lyrics so far but the melody and production... this is one I'm gonna have on repeat for months. 3 Quote Goddesses don't speak in whispers. They scream. Anthem 1,559 Posted December 2, 2014 I knew it was reminding me of something - thanks I used to listen to WG all the time and it almost immediately jumped out at me. I think its cool that she references it. 0 Quote Goddesses don't speak in whispers. They scream.

HugoRockz 55 Posted December 3, 2014 From the preview, it kinda reminds me of Gods And Monsters somehow. The sound of the track, not the lyrics. Am I the only one?
StealingTheMoonlight 278 Posted December 3, 2014 From the preview, it kinda reminds me of Gods And Monsters somehow. The sound of the track, not the lyrics. Am I the only one? When you mention it, yea it kinda does. I guess it's the drums that make me think of it.
