I'm a green anarchist/socialist. I'm not capitalist at all Lana is a human being like any other. She can drop her job, change, do it for free it's her choice. This won't change the fact that the music industry is a business and some things may be seen as unprofessional

SalvaWHORE 34,006 Posted September 19, 2021 If (some of) you guys still have time to judge Lana about her choices of her own personal life & her social media accounts, you might as well have time to go streaming all of her previous eras if you want to "help" her so bad, for her sake. Y'all still have 4 weeks before Blue Babisters release date for that. 5 Quote @WHORE OF TROPICO ⇨ @SALVAWHORE
Flowerbomb 65,594 Posted September 19, 2021 I think the general consensus is that when you're signed to a major label, you have an obligatory duty to meet them halfway by promoting your music on social media, which will put money into the record label's pockets (which in turn will be put towards the artist to make more music). Obviously Lana is her own person and she has the freedom to leave social media (which she has done), however, she is essentially a businesswoman and her entire persona of Lana Del Rey is tied with her label. I don't know why people have a hard time accepting that? That's how business works. I think the issue in this thread as a whole is that everything is black and white. Where's the grey area? We can agree that yes, using Instagram will be beneficial for her career (especially in these modern times), and we can also agree that Lana getting rid of her socials is good for her on a personal level. Let's just agree to disagree on this one

I wrote a post and instead of coming up with any kind of thoughtful response (at least @Sportscruiserbothered to), you just attempted to make it personal. Grow up For someone who is seemingly sooooo concerned about Lana's wellbeing which has taken a hammering due to sm toxicity, it's really interesting that you show up and choose to be downright cunty to strangers on here as a flex Banished #fuckoff 1 Quote ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream

Let's just agree to disagree on this one It's just about right place & wrong time. Social media is neat for an artist's career nowadays. But Lana's clearly desperate to leave this platform already, since the QTFC stuff. Maybe she thought it was about time to dip 5 Quote @WHORE OF TROPICO ⇨ @SALVAWHORE

Nobody is saying she should put her career ahead of her own wellbeing and wishes, but it's a fact that leaving sm has professional implications. And maybe I worded my initial post poorly but that's all I was trying to say. 9 Quote ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream
Dark But Just A Kenny 469 Posted September 19, 2021 I couldn't care less about her signing off social media, I'd do the same if I wasn't a lazy twink with no aspirations in life. I'll miss the selfies though

And maybe I worded my initial post poorly but that's all I was trying to say. The problem I've noticed throughout the years on this forum is that users tend to put words into other user's mouths in heated discussions, so I think that's why you're getting a lot of backlash here. You made a lot of sense and I know your sadness words were taken out of context. There definitely are professional implications when it concerns a high profile pop star abandoning an essential 'tool' which greatly helps their music get further exposure. Anyways, I agree with everything you said. You're not trying to be harsh - just realistic.

moonbeam monsoon 1,281 Posted September 20, 2021 maybe the label wanted to test the waters of releasing music without artist promo on sm? Lana has an established and pretty broad fan base demographically so they could have decided she was the safest bet for such an experiment. Did she ever directly say she was leaving for her mental health? I don’t remember her exact wording honestly. but didn’t she “go offline” before the COCC release? Phase one of a longer term plan perhaps edit- it also got her in the news, deleting all her social media platforms. That’s promo in itself, maybe even more effective buzz than a few instagram posts

I actually support Lana's decision to leave social media. I talked about this in the unpopular opinions. But I still think that it was kinda unprofessional doing this in the middle of an album rollout, even though this won't affect her sales or reception. As I said, Lana is a house name with a strong fanbase, leaving social media won't hurt her career Spoiler And I still haven't discarded the PR option. I will only remove the marketing strategy reason after she releases Behind the Iron Gates
