It actually wasn't compared to HM and LFL. She really hyped it up with the promo singles and the the GREAT promo-pics, the change in both her musical and visual direction and she gave quite a bunch of interesting interviews for magazines. We got a bunch of controversy, three videos in a rather short succession and everything felt fresh and exciting. The problems began halfway through the era when she cancelled all sorts of performances and did not decide to drop 90% of BtD live in favor of new content (something that does not bother us by now cause we are used to it). But all in all the era was actually pretty exciting, mainly because the new direction she took was so exciting. Compared to that, the HM pre-release-time was pretty dull, yet at least it all went in a rather planned and logical way. After the album, she really didn't do ANYTHING exciting anymore, but noone actually expected it at that point. But LFL is just so messy and annoying and the new music, no matter if you like it or not, is not strong enough to build up as much excitement as it did back with UV.

 

i have to disagree for the most part. you enjoyed the controversy of her saying she wished she were dead and feminism is boring? you enjoyed her scrapping a big budget video for an afterthought on an iphone camera? (even the west coast video was looked at as a big disappointment on here.) you enjoyed her ignoring UV on tour? she abandoned the album after about 3 months, so "halfway in" wasn't even that long. 

 

HM era sucked worse, don't get me wrong, but i think people are looking back at the UV era with rose-tinted glasses because the album itself was so great.

I'm a fan of some pretty low-key/unknown artists so the prospect of waiting another month without promo really doesn't bother me luckily! I'm still as hyped for LFL as I was when Love first dropped or when the trailer dropped etc 

 

I get that a lot of people want promo, and I'd love that too, but the amount of negativity on here is draining... we KNOW new music is coming and we know WHEN, and once the album has dropped everyone will be chatting with their reactions and opinions and theories about meaning etc, I'm for sure looking forward to this place buzzing with activity again and no more endless "this era is so boring I don't care anymore" posts   come thru LFL and save us all!
