No matter whether or not this album flops, just a reminder that Halsey's three collabs are:

    Quavo
    Lauren Jauregui
    Cashmere Cat

    And Lana's three collabs are:

    The Weeknd
    Sean Ono Lennon
    Stevie fucking Nicks

So idk if it only sells two copies it's pretty fucking iconic either way. Only. Fucking. Legends.

I've always loved Honeymoon but lately I've been caught on admiring how fucking beautiful the production and overall aesthetic is. From the subdued percussion, breezy synths, sparse and scattered piano chords, to the angelic vocal layering and adrenaline-inducing arrangements on some tracks. It's both a pity and a blessing that the production takes the backseat... as gorgeous as it is, nothing compares to Lana's delicate vocals and I'm really glad the producers gave that the spotlight.

Literally a day after LFL you guys are all like SOOOOO DO SOMETHING?? Doesn't matter how much she does, if she isn't doing five things a day you're all ungrateful brats.

Lana working with people like Stevie Nicks, Courtney Love, and Sean Lennon, shows you how legendary she is

Lana is quite legendary in her own right, she'd probably only collaborate with people with more status. Not generic.

Could you imagine her vocals on a Katy perry track? Dua? Melanie? Rihanna? Of course not.

Could you imagine her vocals on a stevie track? On a Jim Morrison track? On a Beatles track? Yes, no matter the quantity.

When the title Tropico first surfaced, there was a lot of speculation about where the name came from. People wondered if it had anything to do with a video game of the same name. Or if it was a reference to the Pat Benatar album.

I just assumed it was a word Lana came up with independently, or perhaps that she forgot Pat Benatar's album was where the word first entered her mind. (After all, she does often reference others' lyrics and album titles seemingly unconsciously. See: Lust for Life.) At any rate, I never gave it much thought after the release of the film, which I watched a grand total of two times (three if you count searching through it for screenshots for this thread).

But recently I've developed a possible theory about where the name may have come from that I don't recall seeing discussed on the forum before (though maybe I just missed it):

Tropico is/was the name of a real place in California. Now just a neighborhood in Glendale, CA and Los Angeles' Atwater Village, it was once incorporated as an independent city from 1911 until 1918 when the upper half merged with Glendale and the lower half merged with Los Angeles.

Today, there seem to be only a few references to the name of the city that once was: a post office, a seedy motel, a new apartment project, an old folks' home.

Here are links to several pages about "the lost city of Tropico":

    http://waterandpower.org/museum/Early_Views_of_Glendale.html
https://calisphere.org/search/?q=tropico (There's probably some great cover/fan art material in some of the PDFs here.)

Tropico was also home to Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where Walt Disney and many old Hollywood celebrities are buried or have their ashes interred.

I have no idea if Lana is aware of any of this history-- given her proximity to it I suspect it may have inspired the name either way-- but it is certainly in keeping with themes in her work of old Hollywood and lost Americana.

Feel free to post anything else interesting you find about the city of Tropico.

I'm gonna post this in the other thread but I'll post it here too.

If anyone of you are wondering what the Seven Wonders is, it's this:

So basically there are many seven wonders in the world, ranging from 7 wonders of magic (which I will explain below), 7 wonders of the ancient world, 7 wonders of the modern world etc. I chose to explain the 7 wonders of magic because it's pretty obvious, especially in the LFL trailer.

    The Seven Wonders of Magic

Telekinesis - To move objects with ones mind (In the beginning of the trailer we see the goblet, hourglass and hologram of the world move in front of Lana)
Comcilium - Control and reading of the mind (Lana looks into the hologram of the world and cheekily looks up at the camera, as if she's knows what we're thinking)
Teleportation - To move through space without aid (Lana's hologram moves from the desk to the window)
Divination - To foresee all things accurately (Lana looks out of the window, foreseeing Hollywood)
Vitalum Vitalis - The balancing of scales between two life forces (Lana compares our generation to the 60s/70s)
Descensum - Prjoect oneself through the various planes (Lana talk about sending her love to us all through the ether)
Pyrokinesis - The starting and control of fire (Lana says "Or shall I take the day off and turn down the fire". Then as she gathers the ingredients in her hands, a poof of fire/spark ignites)

Then she draws the seven planets in front herself.

Manifestation of all powers indicates the next supreme witch.

This collab really sounds exciting! But 3 collabs on one album is a lot... So the album will be quite different to Lana's former work...

She said it's a spring release so May 26th still sounds accurate. If that's true, they need to start releasing more stuff asap (tracklist, pre-order, LFL video or another song?).

I'm excited for Stevie Nicks if that's true, but I hope that's the end of the features on the album.

They hit the nail on the head with this one. People didn't hate Lana herself, but they hated what she represented, which was a culture change. I have to admit that I was a big ass Lana hater when I first discovered her for the same reasons other people hated her. When I listened to her other songs I am became a changed man. Unfortunately that didn't happen for all haters
