not only this, but she's currently been writing her best lyrics in her career. Kintsugi, Fingertips, A&W, Ocean Blvd, and The Grants proves that 

i can't believe we're at a point where people are saying she would benefit from hiring a lyricist, she has written literally every song she has ever recorded, why should she dumb herself down? why should she give up creating art that is meaningful to her so that she can chart, which is something she doesn't even care about? her music has never been basic, mainstream corporate pop (she's really not a pop artist, i will forever stand by that) if you want upbeat, bombastic hits that were written by songwriters with the sole purpose of making money and going viral, go listen to ariana grande lmfao

I feel crazy for saying this, but to me ocean blvd feels in some ways like she is circling back to her pre 2011 era of acoustic sound...

Also, I dont mean this in a bad way, but objectively Blue Bannisters is not a real album... LISTEN... There is pretty much zero conceptual reason for her to dump 7 or so of her unreleased tracks in the context of that album. What I think happened is that Lana for some reason felt the need to drop a new album right after COCC, and at that point in time she had a clear direction in mind, which was to cover her own family relations and to diss some of her family members... - thus she ended up with 4 new songs (Textbook, Wildflower Wildfire, Blue Bannisters, Sweet Carolina) that cover those exact themes and which are the only "true" BB songs, because they were clearly meant for the album in the context of the announced themes. From that point, I speculate that for some reason she either did not have enough material that covers these topics to arrange it into a full LP, or she decided not to continue in that direction for personal reasons. The issue with the latter is that ultimately she did continue writing in this direction for Ocean Blvd, so I honestly think she probably just wasnt sure back during the BB era of writing or just needed more time. Anyway, to make up for this lack of material and time, she decided to drop some random unreleased songs just because she liked them and because she probably was still liking the idea of releasing an album comprised of unreleased songs, which she mentioned back in 2017. Because even the relatively recent songs like Black Bathing Suit and Beautiful (?) were outtakes. And now, in the Ocean Blvd era, the rest of her Blue Bannisters era/style writing was finally completed and thus she dropped Fingertips, which definitely sounds like a BB outtake and other songs about her family. Maybe she had a writing block on the topic of her family, which resolved after she started writing her memoirs or smth. Pure speculation. 

ANYWAY, the point is that I do not think it is fair to call BB an album, when it is essentially a mixtape. And because 70 percent of BB is random outtakes from 3+ eras, most of which were left musically unchanged, I do not think we should use BB era as any sort of reference for her future musical direction or as part of her evolution, because it isn't. It is actually what sets Ocean Blvd apart, which is that unlike Blue Bannisters, some of her songs from Ocean Blvd, which are thematically identical to the themes of the core BB songs, were actually adapted to suit the record and not just dropped as is.
 

I agree that cohesion is important in a record (HM and Chemtrails are my faves for a reason) but luckily even in her least cohesive albums the songs are still somehow grouped in a way. For example LFL has a lot of different sounds but they are like segments of the album (the classic Lana tracks + ballads, the folky songs and the bops). Same with Ocean which in my opinion is really cohesive, it's just that the last 3 tracks are way different than the rest of the album 
 
I feel like Lana has a too distinct and iconic sound to ever do a truly not cohesive record like it sometimes happens with artists that just create playlist-like albums with songs that are given to them.
I think songwriters as a whole usually have a minimum cohesion on their records just by the fact that they tend to be in a particular headspace when creating their albums

I love reading all of your concepts for the album so much.. it pains me to know they're probably better than what we'll actually get 

Lana Del Rey's 9th studio album, "The Departure", is set to be released February 2023. She explores a sultry, sexy, jazz-influenced sound hidden behind angry lyricism and sometimes screaming vocals. She harkens back to her days of "Ultraviolence" and "Honeymoon", but with a more mature tone. Father John Misty also makes an appearance on the track Discrete Night Calls, a seemingly "sister" track to her predecessor, Dealer. I think the only "young" or even tumblr thing about UV are the lyrics tbh. In my opinion the UV sound could absolutely still work with newer topics and lyrics. Maybe not with chicken running barefeet but you know what I mean... I just love some electric guitar and it works so well with Lana's voice and style in general.
 
 
In general, if I say I'd like her to work with Dan Auerbach again, I don't mean I want UV 2.0 or I want her to sing about being a sad girl (although she does sing "I'm a lost little girl" in Arcadia, so let's not pretend), I just think they created an absolute masterpiece together and obviously had great chemistry. 
I feel like people who don't always say yes make her more productive or creative or whatever.
 
That's why I'm always praising Dan so much. I don't want them to re-create UV but I'd love it if they created something else, I'm so sure it'd be really amazing.

I'd love to hear some psychodelic Lana again but guys... let this woman live. Some of y'all treat her like she owns you money. Let her be and trust the process there's literally Buddy's Randezvous and Dealer.. I don't think she could stuck forever in jack antonoff zone (let's pray she dump him ). 
But this new Arctic Monkeys album realized me that it's okay to change the direction from what other people want you to do. Like a lot of us would die for another AM or UV and old tumblr vibes but unfortunately it's over but that's how it is. We grow old and so does art.

Alright. We were down for about an hour and I’m going to explain why.
 
As I was just beginning to fall asleep two hours ago at 2am, I received a phone call from an unknown number and groggily answered it. It was someone who identified themselves as Bridgette, asking for the owner of LanaBoards.
Confused and taken aback and also half asleep, I just nervously laugh and ask what this person needs. They hang up.
They then text me saying that they are a social media analyst for TAP Management, Lana’s management, essentially informing me that Ben was in talks of having the site shut down for recent leaks, discussion, etc. Saying that this was Lana’s personal request.
For over an hour and a half, this person proceeded to fill me with stress and anxiety through text message regarding this “issue” with the site and not answering my calls saying that Ben would be reaching out to me personally tomorrow to speak further.
Though I was initially skeptical that this was a prank after they called asking for the LanaBoards owner due to the suspicious number (I even texted my personal best friend who knows I run this site and is infamous for her prank calls that don’t typically target me who confirmed she wasn’t behind this), the gravity and severity of the situation that they informed me of once they texted me after they hung up lead me to treat this as a better safe than sorry situation. When I asked how they received my number as Lana’s management doesn’t have my current number as it’s changed since I last spoke with one of her managers years back, they said that Lana herself provided a list of fans they thought may have managed the site, and they listed my ex-girlfriend of 3 years ago who is a fellow prominent Lana fan in the community as someone they reached out to that eventually put them in contact with me. (Note, I have no idea if she’s actually involved with this and highly doubt that she is as it would be very out of character given how we left things at the end several years ago, but that only added to my concern as well as my suspicion.)
Everything that they asked of me I immediately cooperated with, including temporarily pulling the site.
Then, after an hour and a half of this anxiety inducing madness, they tell me this is a prank. They then identify as someone named Dez.
This was not funny.
It was very immature and inappropriate for someone to call me posing as a member of Lana’s management asking about LanaBoards at 2am on a Monday morning ahead of a very busy workweek for me as I’m spending the next 5 days working 14 hour days on set.
 
I am posting this here to just say, if this is someone from the site, do not ever do this again. I would also appreciate if you could please reveal yourself and how you got my number, as I’m really concerned about how LanaBoards members/Lana fans are receiving my personal cell phone number that they feel free to call to harass me for a prank at 2am.
If you are someone who has my phone number, which I know is a couple of you here, please do not give it out without my permission.
I keep a relatively small personal circle, and whoever is behind this has relative knowledge of my life regarding the fact I own this site and the name of my ex-girlfriend that I haven’t spoken to in years. This just grows my concern of my number and personal details being passed around.
 
If there ever is a serious issue regarding the site, LanaBoards has a contact email and social media pages that work just as well.
& if you’re going to prank me like this, choose a better time.
